I hope that explains it.
Of course they wouldn't; BUT, haven been given an allegation that an account is being used for fraud, They should be examining the account to see whether the pattern of transactions is unusual. A single payment of several thousand pounds isn't odd but several in a week is.
I have had accounts frozen by banks simply because their computers flagged up a sequence of transactions as suspicious.
My OH once had an online savings account frozen until she completed a detailed telephone financial review, because she tried to remove almost the entire balance (£xxxxx) when the savings rate on the account dropped to almost zero overnight.
So - to suggest that banks cannot do anything at all when a specific allegation of fraud is made, is simply beyond belief. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Another one which shows up in searches as having similar text to the above suspicious sites:
http://thevehiclemovers.com/ - now appears to be down
This one also looks suspicious:
http://www.marshalldiv.com/world/index-1.htm
Claims to have begun in 2008 but the domain was only registered in 2012!
Some other sites also using fake verisign seals:

I've not read this whole thread but I never understand why folk post asking about scam or no scam?
Surely the fact that there is doubt to begin with means walk away? It's only a car. My opinion only of course.0 -
He's still at it. Was interested in a car on Gumtree but emails got a bit suspicious then I found this thread and exactly the same messages ensued. Now he's Albert Voor and using Carbrokersgroup.com. Told him my friend in Belfast would give him a visit but he obviously doesn't live there. Should I prolong his agony for any useful purpose?0

I'm assuming that the 'poor unfortunate souls' that lost lots of money where trying to buy cars that were ridiculously cheap, and therefore kind of taking advantage of the 'seller' who had priced his/her car too low?
'You can't cheat an honest man'.And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
I have very foolishly fallen for this scam and lost a large sum of money. The new details this guy is using is Adam Riessen and the car brokers is called securecarbrokers.co.uk. I called gumtree and asked them to remove ad and also emailed them but their response was that they are already doing a good job with providing safety advice on website.
They are using Barclays again and even after informing bank of the fraud in less than 24 hours and going to the local branch with documentary proof of fraud and a crime reference number I was told that I would need to take this up with my own bank and they couldn't check the account or refund my money. I am sure they must be profiting in some way as this scam seems to have gone on for a long time.
The car brokers website took a lot of details from me so I definitely have been victim of a money scam but am wondering if anyone else out there that got conned by these people had their identity stolen or were they happy with the single payment they got off you.
These people are so sick though even after I discovered it was a scam can you believe he called me up to ask when he could bring car over and whether health wise I was OK since he knew I had been quite sick during our email conversations.
Anyway biggest wake up call of my life that is going to change my life forever and always have me looking over my shoulder.0 -
Apparently seller-autotrader.com is now also being used.
Domain registered on 5th April 2013 by domainsbyproxy.com
Site looks very similar to previous sites and asks for a £60 deposit to book a collection.

GB-AUTOTRADERS.COM. I did this yesterday, was told it would be an AM pick up and still waiting. Luckily I have probably only lost £80 compared to some amounts I have read on here. Cant believe I fell for it really, but oh well you only get fooled once eh!!.0
