It's after closing on Christmas Eve, the great unwashed have known this day is coming for an entire year & it's not a moveable feast like Easter . . . There's hardly any stock left on the shelves & you just want to get home for your one day off . . . You & the rest of the staff are in your coats walking across the car park to go home and a cluster of desperate fools want you to go back & re-open the store because they 'need just one thing' . . .DFW NERD# 1175Proud Member of Sealed Pot Challenge #5 ~ 1479 cashless_wonder~*DEBT FREE & LOVING IT*~0

I've had rude people speak to me. I worked for marketing agencies and go into supermarkets in business dress with a big visitors badge pinned on.
I often get asked where products are. I'm polite and say "I'm sorry I don't know as I'm a rep and I don't work here." Most people are fine with that.
A minority are extremely rude to me and swear or make abusive comments because I can't help. I visit loads of supermarkets though and it's not my fault that I don't know the exact location of every single item in every single store! Here I go again on my own....0 -
A colleague of mine and I have decided that next time we get someone like that, we'll respond as if we're in the movie Airplane:
Customer: What's RAM?
us: It's an uncastrated male sheep, but that's not important right now.
And make damn sure you don't let them call you Shirley.

I was shutting my shop up one night and just as I was pulling the shutter down at 5.30, a couple turned up in their car and asked if I was still open. Stupidly I opened the shop up for them to have a quick 'Look around'
By 7.30 they had just about managed to choose a fireplace they wanted, they needed it that week. I signed them up, they read through the T&C's and paid 1/2 amount.
9 am next morning, Phone rings. '' I want to cancel, seen it cheaper on Internet'' I said NO. Abusive words spewed out, threatening me and my shop and the parting words back where ''see you in court''
Oh, how smug was I on the day of small claims hearing, when they were told they had signed T&C's which stated no refunds and all orders non cancellable ( Good job I got TS to check over legality of contract before I started using it). It was great getting the rest of the money paid and also an additional installation charge as they had cancelled original one.
Sometimes we do get our own back :rotfl:
So did they receive the goods or not?0 -
Think some of the above are stupid questions ? you want to try working in the catering section ....................................
Examples from my restaurant ..................
What kind of meat is in your Venison Stew ?
Do you have a Vegitarian Meatloaf ?
Whats in your Steak & Ale Pie ?
and the one that creased me up so much service was on hold for 10 minutes .................
Do you make Bannana Fritters with anything else ? ?????
Give me strength !
thats nothing whilst dining in a fast food place the other day a woman in her 50's walked up to the till and asked for a "cheeseburger but without the cheese " :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The sooner I get our of the hellhole known as retail, the better.
I Suspect that the majority of the customers in your 'hell hole' would also get the flags out when you 'get out'.
If it's that bad and you dislike the people who pay your wages so much - why don't you just walk?
TIP - Don't consider a customer services role if you do decide to move on.0 -
I think another one of the most annoying is the customer that literally dives in the door as you're on your way to shut them! Eery night this week this has happened.we have live sand families to go home to so why should we stay late because they can't plan their lives better. And to the " do you work here" comment I get this too but normally when I'm just in my uniform in another shop where the uniform is completely different!0

What a ridiculous post.
By your reckoning, the only people who should be in customer facing positions are those with incredibly thick skins and no self respect (who are, let's face it, unlikely to be very effective with customers anyway).
Why should those of us (probably the majority) who are unfailingly polite to retail staff have to put up with less effective staff because no one decent is prepared to put up with the crap that a few self entitled morons feel they are able to dish out?
You avatar seems pretty accurate. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
