have 2 at uni and 3rd going sept. although basic rate tax band i would say our income is healthy but our outgoings well over each month. So did the mse overhaul 1st jan. set GC at £750 and struggled  now 4.5 months later we're midweek and the cupboards still full. Eating fab food, bought flights for poland, bike back on road and bank balance never looked so healthy. We're now living on one income of which GC set at £600 per month with surplus going into xmas fund. Bills surplus goes to rainy day fund (which this month has already paid for polandtickets, weekend down south an bike fixing bill). I pretty much forget about the other salary as it's what's paying the children's uni costs. I know it's currently in the black and that i mustnt touch that cos sept onwards is gonna be expensive. I also know the £600 is generous and if anything happened i could easily halve it. Having spent xmas a bit worried about our finances i am now feeling pretty chuffed. So this is by way of a big thank you for all you generous people on this site.

craigwv that is a lot of food for such a little amount. :)

I spent 99p yesterday on milk but I do need to shop today as I'm out of toilet rolls almost and sugar, plus bits and bobs. Hoping to do the same as the other day and stick to my list.

I've spent £197.95 out of £400 so far.

Going to use up leftovers for dinner tonight. Bubble and squeak cakes made with left over cabbage and champ. With left over chicken stirfried in spice butter.
    £36/£240
    £5522

Morning all. Onion soup for dinner today and roast pork, cous cous and ginger yoghurt for tea after googling recipes with ingredients I have to use up. The roast pork will be chops though in my case!

Found a great bean curry version from weezl's web page:
    Bean Curry
    1 can tomatoes
    1 tin of baked beans
    1 can kidney beans
    60ml veg oil
    half tsp chilli
    2 tsp mustard powder
    2 tsp garam masala
    320g onion, sliced
    2 tsp garlic paste
Put onions, garlic, chilli, and spices in a pan with the oil, and cook til soft.
Add tomatoes and cook for a few minutes, until the tomato juice has reduced down to a thicker sauce.
Add baked beans and cook for a few more minutes til all cooked, hot throughout and well mixed.
    Season to taste.
Serve with 100g rice per person
