Hi, sorry I haven't really got the time to read everything. Just wanted to update signature and note that it didn't include the Becks beer for £9 as I only bought these to take me over a voucher amount so need to add on the £9 to next month's spends.
For some reason I am feeling a bit hopeful of getting close to my target this month but better not speak too soon as I still have 10 days to go!
    Hope everyone is doing well.

I have made a small investment in the two takeaway secrets books, cant wait for them to come. Not only do i have my nephew with shingles, my youngest child has been sent home from school sick.
Hopefully the books will help to cut down spends in the eating out department.

  • Afternoon all. I'm on a mini catch up because I was otherwise engaged at the weekend. I had my friend's 2 children all weekend (Fri- Sun). Along with my own 2 it seemed very hard work! DH worked and so most of it was tackled on my own! I know some of you are used to 4 or more kids! I think your own children know the routine & expectations but everything changes when someone/something new is thrown into the mix! It didn't help one was 18 months & in nappies-culture shock! :rotfl:

Anyway, they didn't dent my grocery budget too much. Leftover shepherd's pie for all the kids on Friday (it helped they are good eaters) & we were at friend's on Saturday. I'd grabbed a YS loaf on Friday so that they could all have toast when they all moaned of being hungry & their Mum had sent a bag of processed snacks!

I think I am still on budget but I have gone and thrown all my receipts in amongst other receipts & paperwork (which is one big pile)! I will update my signature each time I come across another receipt!

Off to collect DDs from school now & will enjoy my catch up whilst I sit through their 3 sports clubs tonight!

    Morning all!

The sun is shining, it's a gorgeous day, and I got bitten so badly in the garden yesterday that both ankles are twice the size and blistering! Grrr! I'll be sat indoors in the shade with my feet up today. Need to find the insect repellent - I have the same problem every May, and always get bitten before I remember!

Need to report a £10.10 spend yesterday - on two coffees and two pieces of carrot cake!:eek::eek: My only excuse is that it was the May Fayre, so supporting the town and local business.
We very rarely spend in coffee shops now, and it was a local independent one, so at least I'm not supporting C*sta ... but really, £5.05 for a coffee and a cake???

Made a sc chicken curry for dinner yesterday, so will probably have that again today. If not, we have some very old lamb burgers in the freezer which need using up, so might have those instead with salad, and freeze the curry.

Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you are doing!
    CBx :)
If you can get any Skin so soft body oil from Avon its a fantastic insect repellant and literally has 101 uses! http://www.beckysbiz.com/skinsosoft.htm

Courgette muffins/ cake - seriously good, we discovered them when we had an allotment 3 addresses ago and the only thing that grew well was courgettes.
Just use a carrot cake recipe and substitute all or part of the grated carrots for courgette. You don't need to peel them but I do to remove any tell-tale green flecks - fussy kids and OH;)

I tried to cheat on a muffin method and it didn't work. I am eating them anyway though ;)
They rose but promptly sank as the mixture was too wet despite squeezing out the excess moisture from them in a muslin bag.
Hey ho. I will continue experimenting if I get some more YS courgettes! I may even follow a recipe:eek:

Haven't done ANY cooking today. Helped out at my folks' with cleaning but Mum is enjoying cooking again.
I came home and whammed my courgette bake in to cook. :)

What a funny day for weather! Has anyone else had rain, sun and hailstones the size of whopping grapes?

Right. I'm determined to make a mammoth sized French onion soup. I do, after all, have a few *cough* onions.
This is one soup I've never made. Another box to tick off after tonight.
Seems easy enough epart from slicing a humongous quantity of onions!

I'll be looking like Alice Cooper in 10 mins!!! Onion eyes!
