Firstly Thanks everyone for their very informative posts. Advise to people who already have Sky. Already an existing Sky customer passed the 12 months intial contract time so can cancel anytime. Anyway rang up few times today, they didn't want to know but I was very determined to get that deal so I changed my story the fourth time and Opened a new Sky account with different bank account in different name but same address and said rent a kind of room so there was no problems, sky card in the post and cancelled the previous contract. Hope this helps. But NEVER NEVER mention you are an existing customer.

OK Guys n Gals ...I have been paying £37 for tooooo long now lol

I rang them up 3 times the first 2 was refused but you learn from your mistakes lol

    Heres my pointers

Ring up and say ..... Hi i was just ringing to take you up on this offer ive had through the post , it says to quote "free Trails"

then they should say great what package do you want , tell them which you want but make sure you do not speak to them , just answer the questions as the more you talk the more chance you have of dropping yourself in it ,

Tell them what they want to hear i used the same name and same bank account , if asked about the card just say can i have a new one please as my other is a bit dodgy the kids keep playing with it lol

Hope this helps and if your turned down try and try again , not being funny here by the way but it is best if you get a woman as they wont go into stuff like a bloke does and easier to talk to without dropping yourself in it !!!

    Good Luck :)

I made the mistake of saying I was an existing customer. I put forth the loyal customer argument not getting a good deal. They didn't want to know. So I decided to cancel my subscription anyway. I don't think the chap expected that but he went ahead and cancelled. Given past experience, I'm putting money on the fact that they'll have a 'come back' offer through the post before the inks dry. lol ;)

Heya, i was wondering anyone have any ideas on how to get sky + with this deal?

Been with virgin/NTL for about a year now so im well out of contract with sky, i only have the standard Sky Box.

Does anyone know if i can get the subscription for half price (£5/Month) ?

I could buy a box of ebay :T i have all the wires here as the old owners used 2 have sky +.

Also, anyone know if i can get disney cinimagic without getting the movies?

Also will that be half price?

Am i allowed to ring up and ask for the free sky broadband and telephone?

    -Thanks

I called today and got offered it on the first go - no problems, same name, telephone number, different bank account, same address as my original account. They opened an new account for me...

Called later to confirm that my account (the original one) is due to be closed in a month - ended up with the manager who said that the deal should not have been offered to me so they have cancelled my 'new' contract!

Writing to complain, not sure if I'll get anywhere though?

Good luck to those who have managed, and thanks to the OP

This worried me a bit - I have not yet cancelled my previous sub - has anyone had any problems where they have cancelled the account after the new account has been ordered???

    Any tips for cancelling?????

    Another success story here.
Tried last night - just asked what is the best deal you have to offer me......came up with nothing close to this.
Then tried today - first bloke said no, even though I fill ALL the criteria - have the equipment, used to be a Sky Customer, not currently - except having actually received the letter/offer !!
    Anyway, third time lucky.:T
Lovely scottish lady started taking my details as soon as I mentioned "Free Trial". Interesting that they obviously don't keep a record of exactly who they have sent the offer out to, and who had the free month trial !!!
Anyway, gave all the correct details - which are the same as what we had when we were originally with sky. At every question/answer I was expecting her to say, "Sorry YOU cannot have this offer" but no problem.
New Card in the post, and hopefully I will see MY reward on Mothering Sunday, if there is any justice in the world !!!
At least 3 hours lie in, and then waited on hand and foot for the day !!:D

Thanks to op again, and to everyone else for their helpful posts.
Just proves you need to be "in the know" and persistant ;)

I was thinking of downgrading my sports package at the end of this football season and paying just the tenner for sky+.

So I can cancel straight away if I am way past the inital 12 month contract and don't have to give 30 days notice?
