I've cancelled two very good cases with these morons this week and moved them to a lender that actually realises that they are making decisions that greatly affect peoples lives. I've personally refunded the £99 booking fees to these clients who are as thoroughly jarred off with Nationwide as I am. Unlike Nationwide, I happen to take my clients satsfaction seriously even if I do end up out of pocket.

Nationwide at the moment don't seem to give a rats asss about any sort of service standards and I would advise anyone to take their custom elsewhere at the moment.
  • Very disappointed with Nationwide I have to say.
Had a previous mortgage with them and I was very pleased with their service, but when I came to get another mortgage with them this year, it's been problem after problem.

After having a valid mortgage offer with them in Feb I had to re-submit all my salary documentation again and start the mortgage offer process a fresh.

This was only the start of the delays I'm afraid. Luckily my broker has been doing all the chasing on my behalf but it has none the less been very stressful and frustrating as the week shave gone by.

Each week there seems to be a new excuse as to why no decision has been made. They have got a huge back log of cases to work through I was told and any slight problem with you application seems to mean to go back to the bottom of the queue or sit in someones in-tray for a week. 48hr reply deadlines have been missed numerous times by them.

Finally my mortgage offer was re-issued two weeks ago (yes re-issued, all that was wrong with the original one was the price of the property we are buying is now £2k less) but guess what, there is still a problem! They issued the Mortgage Offer with an expiry date that had passed!!! Can you believe it, after waiting since May they issue an offer which we can still not use.

Apparently it's not a straight forward issue to solve and is having to be 'keyed manually' and involves going back to the underwriter.
This really has to be the worst customer service I've ever experienced and being such a major step in ones life leaves a very bad taste....

One day we might actually get a VALID mortgage offer and might just move in for Christmas.... perhaps 2013 :)

    Its not just me then!

We've been trying to get a mortgage off these clowns for over 2 months now.

They seem to not give a toss.

We're in danger of losing the house now because of them.

Not even an apology. And to think I was considering an application to these jokers.

They just forward your details to customer services. I did so yesterday and haven't heard anything back yet.
  • Have posted this on another thread, but desperate for help...

Having an awful experience with Nationwide and desperate for any advice/tips for speeding up an application. It's actually the purchaser of my property who is with them, but the delays are now jeopardising two sales and three families. The most frustrating part is their empty promises that things will be done in'48hrs'. Every time we get ready to move, we are let down. Disgusted with their service.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, but going on the posts above, I'm losing all faith.

Hi all, I've applied to Nationwide last week (26th July) as a first time buyer, with an 85% LTV through countrywide. I will update with progress to give others an idea of how long this process is currently taking..

So far my broker tell me NW are taking 1 1/2 weeks to begin their assessment. Valuation has already been completed.

    Hi,
    update for other readers:
-applied on 10th of July in branch, with all documents provided
    -valuation 3 days later
-offer sent on 28th of July. I haven't receive it yet but just spoke with someone from their call centre.

So in total 18 days, not bad. I expected minimum of 4 weeks after reading this thread.

Details: 1 permanent worker + 1 with limited company, 80% LTV, flexclusive tracker. Part of the deposit is in foreign bank account and their consultant was afraid it might be a problem and I might need to transfer it to UK before mortgage will be offered. But looks like everything went ok with no additional requirements from Nationwide.
  • Hi, Mortgage application went in for the 28 July, valuation was done on the 31/7/12. Had an email on the 4th august advising that the valuation had been satisfactory. How long will I have to wait now before an offer/rejection? Spoke to MB who advised Nationwide have all the information that has been requested. I rang them 9th august and they advised waiting for reference from employer. spoke to employer to hurry things along. They advised no contact has been made!!! Is this usually what happens with Nationwide? FTB so rang MB who advised she was unaware of the employer reference request as 3 month wage slips and p60's had been handed over. Can anyone advise how long this process should take and how long would you leave it before giving Nationwide a gentle nudge?

    Hi,

I applied as a first time buyer for a NW mortgage on 1/8/12 via a mortgage broker. I received a text message saying that the valuation was booked in for 3/8/12. I then received another text on the 9/8/12 informing me that they had received a satisfactory valuation report and will be in touch shortly.

Any ideas how long it roughly takes from this point for them to make the mortgage offer?

I sent off all the documents as requested but so far not heard anything else from them and neither has my broker.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Applied on a Thursday. Valuation the next Thursday. Text and email to say valuation was satisfactory on the Friday. Text and email at the same time on the Friday to say offer approved. Offer paperwork arrived on Wednesday.

Lovely and quick. Uncomplicated application. New build house. 15% own deposit and 5% builder. Both applicants in full time stable jobs. Income suggested a much higher mortgage was achievable so affordability was good. No other debts.

I think it just depends on your situation.
