Nationwide Mortgages - How long??

  • Applied for Mortgage through Countrywide on 28Jun12. Still waiting for offer and can see the house sale slipping away.
  • O wow.We submited our application last Thursday, they have written to our employers for references and are awaiting for their reply. Hopefully everything will go smoothly
  • So we are no further on, now on week 8 of mortgage application and nationwide have still not said anything. Our broker is still saying that there is a backlog. I am beginning to get a little annoyed, I'm not sure whether he is telling the truth or not!

The chain is due to complete in 2 weeks and we are still without offer.

Nationwide have only dealt with our broker and we speak to our broker. Would it be seen as wrong for me to get the details off our broker and ring nationwide myself to see what the problem is? Or is 8 weeks a normal period of time to wait?

    Thanks

  • Hi

I really have no idea about time scales, eveyones is different it seems. I called them today and they said they are dealing with applications and supporting documents from 23rd August and I applied on 30th August so I really dont know how long I'll be waiting for or how long others will be waiting for.
My valuation went through really fast and now it seems like there is a long gap between valuation sign off and offer.

    My experience:

10 August - Application submitted (via broker)
15 August - Valuation carried out
    17 August - Valuation satisfactory
6 September - Formal offer issued

So roughly 4 weeks from start to finish - everything straightforward, no extra documents requested etc.
  • I'm beginning to wish I didn't bother with them. Had a mortgage offer earlier in the year on a house that fell through. Re-applying now requesting less money with a higher deposit, no circumstances changed. A month in and no sign of an offer.

    My Experience,

Appliend in the Branch on 17th August, today is 4th of October, no result yet.

Every day I call they keep saying that it is with underwriters. They are very slow, why to take so many clients if they cannot handle it.
  • :mad:I have applied end of August and still nothing. Went through branch,i cant get hold of mortgage advisor ,being fobbed off when calling to bank , and I have not been givin correct case number!
and when I called to their business centre they told me they only have me as a enquiry and they cant track my application!!
I even payed their £99 pounds in branch,I am absolutely discusted with Nationwide and all i want is to borrow extra top up on current mortgage
  • We are first time buyers using the FirstBuy scheme so Nationwide were the cheapest lender. We were accepted in principle in the middle of August and are still waiting for our offer to turn up. IFA have dealt with Nationwide, keep emailing her to ask if any news. She has told us everytime we mither her to mither NW, our app gets put to the bottom of the pile again.

The builders are getting annoyed now as our reservation has technically run out. Solicitors just keep saying they are just waiting for mortgage offer and are wanting to complete by 12th oct. Survey was completed 27th sept.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as we don't want to lose the house. We have postponed moving 3 times as builders, solicitors and IFA are all giving conflicting info/dates.

    Thankyou

My application took a month exactly from acceptance in principle to a formal offer. We applied through a broker, who thankfully, was very pro-active, and kept asking them for an update every two days. Probably only thanks to him we got it so quickly. He moaned about Nationwide though, saying that are an absolute pain to work with at the moment.
