Did you use your own solicitor or 1 that was offered to you?

I used my own looks like it was a mistake now :) and its more expensive as well
But if he says he has still not got it tomorrow I will call nationwide as I gotta start the process asap.

My solicitor received the offer exactly a week after I received my paper copy. I waited 8 days from offer text to receiving my posted offer.

Looks like Nationwide just arent that great at posting things!

We are presently applying for a NW remortgage, 64% LTV on 5 yr fixed. Budgeting calculators say we could borrow £40k more and we both have 999/1000 credit score with Experian. I am not sure whether they are better or worse regarding "getting on with it" than anyone else offering mortgages!
So far been asked to provide:
    Utility bills (paper)
    Payslips for 3 months (paper)
    P60s for 2011/12 (paper)
    Proof of Identity (scanned)
    Bank statements (scanned)
I was initially optimistic it would be straightforward, but reading many of these posts maybe that's pushing it. Used a mortgage adviser. Will post any progress, one way or another...
Well, 19 days later nothing has happened yet! MA said their systems were showing that they had nothing to do - in reality, had done nothing! Then claimed a pdf was illegible. These things just prevented the clock from even starting! MA reckons a DIP could be tomorrow

    My progress thus far:

12th April 2013: Went through an application with branch on phone (long story!)
18th April 2013: Had appointment to go into branch to make formal application, as arranged in 12th April. DIP issued.
18th April 2013: Received text notifying that valuation would take place on 25th April
19th April 2013: Notified that survey would take place on 22nd April
23rd April 2013: Phoned late pm to query whether valuation would happen on 22nd or 25th. Advised that it had occured on 22nd and should get offer by end of week
23rd April 2013: As soon as I got off phone a text came through saying valuation fine, then a second text immediately afterwards saying formal offer in post.

Delighted with the way things have worked out, from an application being taken late on a Thursday to notification on the following Tuesday (ie only 3 working days later) that a formal offer had been issued. Didn't use a broker and used our own solicitor.

I applied via an advisor. Full application was apparently posted almost 2 weeks ago. Noticed the application fee had gone out of my account yesterday. Haven't received any text messages though. Is that normal?
  • I think you have to opt in for the text message service. My broker opted me in automatically but your adviser may not have done.
