leaving children for 6 months

Why is the job only 6 months? Would it turn into a permanent thing? Also, where is the job? Being halfway across the country is one thing, being in Australia would be another. Also, other than you being away, what would the other differences be to their life? Any?
6 month contract on a cruise ship as head stylist,
they would go to the same school, live in the same house etc, but only their dad would be there not both of usShut up woman get on my horse!!!0 -
As a mother there is no way I would ever leave my child for 6 months.
When you have children they should be your number one priority, it may be your dream job but you will miss out on so much...0 -
Totally depends on the job - and like lika86 has posted - why is it only 6 months?
I mean what if you did it for 6 months and dont want to come back - is there a chance you could move your family to wherever the job is?
I cant say what Id do without knowing more.0 -
Me personally - no. I would miss them too much and I know they would miss me as would my hubby. No amount of pay etc could compensate what would be missed. The best thing you can spend on a child, is time.0

No, because I know I couldnt bare it and also it wouldnt work with my husbands job as hes out early and back late.
I wouldnt look down on somebody for going for it though.Sorting my life out one day at a time0 -

I can't see as a family you would gain from it, only you would. I imagine the wages won't be fantastic, so it's not like you can send a packet home for the future and it doesn't sound like amazing career advancement. It just sounds like fun and a bit of travelling for Mum.
Do you really think your children would be able to rationalise it?.0 -
Who cares what others think, it's about you and your family. If all are happy then go for it, just be careful they don't say what you want to hear but are actually not happy with it at all.
Personally, I can't really think of a job that would make me happy being away from my two children for 6 months, I just can't conceive it, but that doesn't mean I would judge someone doing it or think they love their children any less.0 -

I couldn't, I would miss my child way too much.0 -
