Maybe it was just a bit too soon - your DH is doing really well but he's still quite near the beginning of his journey back to health.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »I definitely want to reward DS1 somehow and I'm sure he'd love to be in the paper, but I'm not so sure DH will like the idea. He is very angry and upset at himself at the moment.
Oh crikey, I didn't mean here-and-now! ..It was just an idea to think about - in a few days hopefully DH's feelings will subside and pride in his son will rise in his heart and assist in improving his mood - that might be the time to mention it.
I wonder, would it also help DH to accept that his current problems are not his fault? That would assist the healing process.
But you know your family - whether it would help all of you or not? It's not your business to sell papers of course, so if the whole idea isn't ridiculous, consider asking the paper for a donation to the unit that treated DH, or a brain injury charity - being able to give something back may appeal to DH; improve his sense of self-worth?please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »I googled carers allowance at about 3am this morning and it's just over £58 a week. I earn £65 a week but then have travelling expenses too, so we would be the same money wise. The peace of mind it would bring would be invaluable though.
Absolutely. Unless you're doing a job that will have far-reaching benefits for the whole of mankind and there's nobody else who could do it, your priority must be your family. No-one would expect anything different from you. ((hug))
In fact you may do better financially by being at home, although starting any small business venture does imply acceptance of my current nemesis (HMRC Self Assessment Tax Return ).please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Santa is bringing DS1 some new boxes of lego so that's good timing! We are all very much sticking together today but will go out for a short while. The weather is carp and by his own admission DH feels 'poleaxed', so we won't go far but as they were in all day yesterday, even a car journey will provide a change of scenery Xx
Ah, good ol' Santa!
Your day sounds perfect; are there any ducks within reach that you could go and feed on your excursion? Get you all into the fresh air just for a few minutes, even if the weather is rubbish where you are. Stick together, be a loving family and rest today.. Enjoy each other.0 -

We have managed the day without any major catastrophes! Went to Mr A's purely because I didn't have the chance to go after work as I'd planned yesterday. We had run out of toilet paper . I spoke to my boss while I was there and she wasn't even aware I'd left early yesterday as the evening manager hadn't passed the message on! She was fine about it though.
I then called in to get weighed and I've lost 2lbs :j Class is normally on a tuesday which this week is Christmas Day so a weigh in was held today instead. DH and boys just stayed in the car. Then finally I stopped at my Mum's to drop off some things she asked me to get through the week. She wasn't in so again the boys and DH just stayed in the car.
My lovely Grandma is in hospitalShe has 2 infections so is on a drip of strong antibiotics. Hope she can get home for Christmas!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone !
Grandma was let out of hospital todayso we went to visit her at home and took her presents down. We also collected DH's prescription, bought some xmas scented candles in the sale at the local garden centre, visited my cousin and played host to a family friend who came to drop presents off for the boys.
Unfortunately MIL has full blown flu. She has given me all the food she bought for the xmas dinner and I'm cooking at home tomorrow. Mum is coming here as she was coming with us to MIL's. I feel bad that MIL will be on her own for Christmas but she says it doesn't bother her as she just feels so dreadful. We can't risk DH catching it as a temperature may induce a seizure and I don't want the boys to get it either.
We are about to prep Santa's plate and put the reindeer food/dust around the front door. I love Christmas Eve!!Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Thank you for the well wishes everyone and Merry Christmas to all!
The boys 'slept in' until just after 7am yesterday, which is late for them on Christmas morning :rotfl:. Unfortunately DH struggled to come round and was a little fuzzy for the first hour or so. After all the worry about the size of the present piles though, they were both huge!! Not least because MIL and my Mum left their presents for the boys with me this year instead of waiting until we see them at lunchtime. It took 2 hours to open everything as I insist they take it in turns to open 1 thing at a time and we all watch.
My first ever turn (at 34!) of cooking Xmas lunch went fabulously. Even my Mum being almost an hour late () didn't spoil things. Everyone said the meal was great, including MIL after I'd taken a plate of it round to her. It was a shame she was poorly but to be honest we enjoyed Christmas day at home and it was good that the boys got to play with their stuff all day. DH got a bit stressed and annoyed late afternoon over nothing, so I'm putting it down to tiredness and his head 'righting' itself after the seizure. will keep an eye on him though.
Mum stayed until about 5.30pm yesterday then went off gallivanting again. I then had some gripping stomach pains and thought I was going to be sick. I wasn't but it came out the other end though
. Thankfully I feel better today. Can't think of anything I've had to eat in the last couple of days that would have caused it and it was too soon to have been my Xmas day dinner effort :rotfl:. Besides, everyone else is fine.
DS1 was still awake at 12.30am last night/this morning . Suffice to say he's still asleep now. I got up with DS2 when he woke at 7am this morning and DH has just surfaced. Let Boxing Day commence ..... Is it bedtime yet??Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Hello Be Lucky, :santa2:
Am very happy to read that your day went so well yesterday.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »After all the worry about the size of the present piles though, they were both huge!! That's the way our family does it too, with breaks for special xmas nibbles like waffles & maple syrup or smoked salmon and biscuits.. And chocolate of course <mmm, yummy>

Am amazed that this is the first time you've taken charge of the xmas feast! So glad everything went well - and you've discovered that it's easiest for the nuclear family with young kids to host the day! Chaos but fun, especially if wider family take charge of some aspects like providing food and washing up.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Mum stayed until about 5.30pm yesterday then went off gallivanting again. Stress? Or the sub-concious relieving of stress after you'd done all the work and nothing went wrong?
Hope it was a one-off, anyway ((hug)).please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Unfortunately DH struggled to come round and was a little fuzzy for the first hour or so.

Has DH got somewhere to retreat to [bedroom?] when he's struggling to cope? The sheer volume of stimuli in a noisy house full** of excited children must be very difficult for him (**yes I know; sometimes two kids can fill a house with their exuberance!).
Anyway, do hope you and your family are all enjoying Boxing Day (and none of the new toys have broken yet! :rotfl:).0
