It's really weird because so many things you say about Mr Lucky also apply to Mr SA. The bit where you say it's like having another child - tick, the getting lost on the way back from places - tick and the not being able to remember recent events - tick. They both have very different reasons for their brain damage but the effects are so similar. Wonder if their brain damage is in the same part of the brain?
Hope you have a good (and uneventful) weekend xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
It is interesting SA that they are so similar despite such different things happening to them! The brain is not to be messed with!
Mr Lucky's damage is to Frontal and temporal lobes.
Hope you have a good weekend too XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Jellytot won't be allowed out when she is 36 either love
Just so you know, I get lost on my way to various toilets and places very often. I get distracted, see something pretty and off my brain goes. I was epileptic as a child, and thankfully grew out of it, but it left me with some markers. I am easily distracted, get migraines... and oddly get so fixated on one thing that people sometimes actually have to turn my head for me to break my gaze. Sometimes I can hear them and ask someone to move me, and othertimes I am utterly tuned out. The brain is an insanely intricate object.
Does DH remember things that happened a while before the accident? Births, weddings etc?
Hugs and have a lovely weekend xx

Lilt, that's just like DH! He gets totally zoned into something and you have no hope of getting a response unless you physically intervene!
DH has lost at least 10 years of memory, probably more. He can't remember either of the boys being born, our wedding, us moving in together, his Dad dying etc etc. Weirdly, he can remember things from when he was 10 like it was yesterday. It's almost like someone has removed a load of files and left the old ones on top of the pile so they are easily accessible.
I've only just realised that the Epilepsy Nurse didn't call today. I say she didn't call, but I had no signal at Beamish and I've had a call on the home phone tonight so I can't 1471 to see if she tried. Either way she didn't leave a message if she did try. Will have to call her on Monday.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Mr SA is just his short term memory, long term is fine now although not at first - he asked about long dead relatives at one stage. It's the right side of the brain affected - the tumour was very deep as is the norm with brain lymphoma. Affecting mobility and speech the most.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Mr exDH was the same, ladies, front temporal lobe damage and initially couldn't access older memories but they eventually re-emerged pretty much intact - although he never had a brilliant memory. Short term memories didn't stick for a few years, but that has improved unless he's stressed/tired/unwell. When he first woke from his coma (3 weeks), he talked about seeing my sister. When I gently told him she was dead he said "I know, she was in heaven with me. She offered me fruit from a cornucopia and I refused it saying no, it's not my time yet, then I came back", gulp. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

SA, I find it fascinatingly scary how complex it all is. Like how Mr L and Mr SA have such similar symptoms and then such different ones too. Mr L has no mobility issues (except post seizure), yet his long term memory is so poor and Mr SA is the other way round.
Satchmo, was it very long before the memories came back to your ExDH? We are at 3.5 years post accident now and have pretty much accepted this is how it is and will be, but I'd like to think things could still change. DH has a friend who had a car accident and lost an eye amongst other problems. He also lost his sense of smell and was told it would never come back, but 11 years later it did!
Re the seeing deceased relatives, when DH woke up after a couple of days 'asleep' in intensive care, the nurse asked him if he knew who was sitting next to him (me!). He said his Gran was sitting next to him and had been for days - she died 6 years before the accident! I will say though, when he came round properly he was very confused and spent 9 weeks in hospital with post traumatic amnesia. During that time he thought he was on a training course with his old work, at school, on holiday, at a train station etc etc. he thought the other patients were people he knew from work and repeatedly bothered one guy that he thought was his boss. I can see the funny side but it was VERY stressful at the time XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Hi Lucky!
Besides the seizures, it looks like October was a very successful month. You got through it well and you had some fun and you reduced your debt. Well done! I hope November brings no seizures, lots of debt reductions and lots of good things in general!
October xx0 -
Thanks October, I hope so too.
Debt reduction went ok last month but I was mindful of leaving us enough money to get through half term. November might be on the low side too with Christmas presents still needing purchased! I do have some savings for Christmas but will possibly need more.
It's never ending! XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
