So sorry about OH, it must be a huge blow to you both, as in some respects he seemed (from here) to be finding it possible to do more things away of the family and give him a little more independence. :(

  • Thanks everyone. DH slept (and snored!!) all night. This morning he looks ready for Halloween as one eye is half closed and swollen and he has lots of dried blood/cuts etc. I'm still tired as I didn't sleep well and have pretty much been awake since 4am.

Maddie, I've been really trying to let DH be a bit more independent, I guess to see if he is still as bad as we all think, or if perhaps it had just become habit to mollycoddle him. Some things have worked but others have failed spectacularly. We still talk in terms of 'when he goes back to work one day' and 'when he gets his driving licence back', but I really can't see either of those things happening. Ever.

In future we will stick to him going out with paramedic mate, or going to the gym with me.

  • Oh Lucky.

!!!!!!!!. that's crap. Concentrate on the things that have worked eh?

oh I wish you'd slept too.

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Oh lucky you poor poor thing. Sending you lots of hugs.

I am glad he slept well, and that he only did 'surface' damage.... You are being so strong well done.

I know you are trying to let him be independent but it must be hard when you let him do things like this and then he does have a turn. I hope it doesnt set him back x

  • Thanks Buffy, Sparky and Mummy.

DH is quite depressed but we are trying to jolly him along. I happened to mention that he's had 8 seizures in 2014 so far, so a little less than one a month on average, and it really upset him. He thought he was getting better not worse, so it came as a bit of a shock to him that he's had almost tripple the amount of seizures this year than he had last year. This was all said as part of a conversation with the Epilepsy Nurse who rang as a result of DH being in hospital yesterday. She is going to speak to the Consultant about maybe changing his medication, and we will hear back from her ok Friday about that.

So, to the jollying along part, we all went bowling this morning. If you arrived before 12noon it was £5 per person for 2 games each, so £20 for all of us. I didn't think to ask about Carer's Discounts d'oh!! Anyway, we all had good fun but DH came last on the scoreboard!! We blamed his swollen eye and poor balance, but he was disappointed! Most people would want their kids to win but not DH. If you look up competitive in the dictionary you'll see his photo!:rotfl:

  • Fortune it makes me sick to think of what would have happened without the app or mobile phones!! *shudder*

Been to chub club tonight and have gained 2lbs! That'll be all the crap I ate (without even tasting it!) in the hospital yesterday, and then again at home last night. Wish I was one of those people who didn't eat when stressed rather than the one who eats to get through it!!

Oh Lucky what a scare (Mr Lucky that is not the weight gain!). Obviously he can't be left on his own again. Thankfully not too much damage done, could've been so much worse. I'll say one thing for sure your life is never uneventful. Sending you a big hug!

  • Thanks SA, hugs are always welcome :D. Right back at you though, as I've just read your day hasn't been great either!
