Lucky,
So sorry to hear hubby has had another setback. I echo others' thoughts about the use of the app and the kindness of the ladies who found him. It must be so scary and frustrating for the both of you.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote: »Most people would want their kids to win but not DH. Nah - that would be my Dad. My sisters and I used to take (imaginary) bets when playing mini (crazy) golf as to how long it would take him to start squatting down, eying (sp?) up the lie of the green (for mini golf?!), and all the associated angles, etc. This is what you get when your Dad plays (well, he did then) off a 7 handicap for the 'real' game.
The answer - usually about the 2nd hole! Lord, love himAnd, yes - he usually did beat us. Soundly!

Hi Lucky
Thank goodness for the app! It's a shame there isnt one that can tell a person is about to have an attack and contact someone.
Half term sounds like lots of fun and lots of quality family time. Don't let this setback taint such a good week otherwise!

Lol JAT, that sounds like my FIL!! At his best he played at 1.8, so even a game of toddler golf with plastic clubs in the garden had to be just right :rotfl:. It's definitely where DH got his competitive streak fromOctober_Starter wrote: »Hi Lucky

Thanks October! An app to tell the onset of seizure would be amazing! We've had a nice day at the Farm today though. Our passes run out on Sunday so we wanted to go one last time. Think I paid about £24 for them in February so we've had our monies worth out of them!
We also called into the stables with a big tub of celebrations and a thank you card for the girls who rescued DH. It makes me feel better knowing we've said thank you properly :T.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Oh dear, Lucky - so sad to read of MrL's latest mishap.
Hope he isn't too despondent.. One positive is that he can take the boys T&Ting without needing a costume (sorry)!
Re non-canine seizure alert apps; found this:

Looks like a good system, except you're not in Oz lol.
Don't know whether it's a 'stand alone' aid or all the - rented - watches are controlled centrally? If the former, and it's possible to buy, would be worth fund-raising and maybe Granny could bring one back for you?0 -
Robin, the Halloween mask was the first thing I said to DH :rotfl:.
I had a look at those watches, thank you. Found the link to the European site and need to spend a bit more time looking into it. I think the purchase price is £239, but then it talks of a monthly charge of £18 or £24 depending on package, so need to figure out if it's either or, or if you need to pay for the device AND the monthly charge.
Today is MiL's birthday. She came round this morning to get her presents etc and then asked DH if he'd go look at a new car with her. They were away 2 hours and were offered a good deal as long as she signs tomorrow!! I then had to go to the bank with her to sort finances and DH and MiL are supposed to be going back to the dealership this afternoon. In the meantime we are pumpkin carving!
Going out for a meal later to celebrate MiL's birthday. This week isn't looking good for weight loss either!Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Nice work Robin! It's amazing what they can do with technology these days. I hope it is a one off price Lucky, then you could save up for it. It would give your DH some more independance and you piece of mind!

Glad things have settled down. Good that Mr Lucky got involved with the car purchase, the sort of things blokes like to doI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Hi Lucky...
I am so sorry to read about DH's seizure whilst out. Thank goodness for the ladies who came across him, as I am sure, with or without the app he would have been off to the hospital and you would have been contacted... but WOW to the app! Very clever. It is so sad that his independent trips away without mishap have been overshadowed by this one time, but all it takes is the once I suppose. I finally realise the fear you have at letting him go, and why the possibility of a night away didn't mean you could relax.
I hope that you haven't forgotten the funding for your experience away? If you could get that amount, may well be it could be put towards the watch. If it helped your peace of mind, then surely that is worth far more than a night away?! As for the monthly charge, I think it is probable that this is an admin cost for the running of the scheme, unfortunately and therefore on top of the cost price of the watch. Think of it as an incredibly smart mobile phone contract? You said yourself, sometimes you need to lift your head above the weight loss and the debt busting. £18 a month for peace of mind seems a small price to pay.
Have you thought about crowd funding or fund raising via the book of face for things for DH? If people can fund b00b jobs and things via it, why not a true medical device helping you? I would certainly chip in if you set it up. I've regularly donated on there to certain causes close to my heart, and these are people I have never spoken to who have touched me. I am sure you touch many lives, here and elsewhere. It is not charity. Merely, 'we need this, because of this, and we can't afford it, because of this'. Think about it
Hope you enjoy the last couple of days with your boys and the weather allows some fun. Thank you for dropping in and thinking of me in all your hubbub xx

im still back on page 243 catching up but just noticed you saying you wash your uniform - maybe someone else has already said but you can get a tax refund/reduction for washing a uniform. No idea if this will help or not but its worth while saying in case it helps anyone

Happy Halloween!!
Daisy, thanks for the thought but I haven't actually paid any tax so there is none to reduce/refund. Hope it helps someone else though and thank you for the thought.
Lilt, good to have you back and glad to read on your diary that you had a nice time away. Sometimes Mr Lucky is like a 3rd child rather than a grown-up, so my fear at letting him out alone is akin to you letting Jellytot out by herself!! No one thinks is weird not to let a 2 year old out by themselves, but it's harder to explain why a 36 year old needs a chaperone! Talking about his time away the other week though, Best Mate called round a couple of nights ago and was talking about it but DH couldn't remember any of it. It was like he was listening to a story he hadn't been part of, never mind something that happened to him less than a fortnight ago. It also transpired that DH had got lost a couple of times going to and from the toilet block and had to be rescued .
I'm ashamed to say I still haven't looked into the watch idea more as I haven't had time yet. Meal last night was lovely, but it made for quite a late night and then we have been out all day today at Beamish. Got the free pass from my Mum's work again, but still spent a pretty penny on rides and in the fish & chip shop. Really lovely day though, and a totally different experience to going in the height of summer. It was much easier to have a good look around and it was so pretty with the scenery being so autumnal. Yet again though it was like the first time Mr Lucky had been as he really didn't remember anything about it, it's not even like a little spark of recollection when there.
