Hope it was a high power Hoover Beanie :)

  • Wow they are some awesome presents Beanie!! :rotfl:.

Steph, I'm sorry to hear about your Mum. My sister was left profoundly deaf by meningitis when she was 3 months old. It's such a cruel disease. Big hugs to you Xx

Robin I completely agree! A working car is absolutely what I need. It's all fixed now :j.

Sparky it's a shame to hear that Mr sparky doesn't think of you both in terms of a team rather than who earns most :(. I hope he can be happy for you in your promotion (and also that he shares his bonus!!).

SA I loved my alone time!! I cleared out 2 cupboards of rubbish which then allowed me to store bits and pieces that have been getting in the way. I also cleaned out the fridge!!

Both boys had a good first day, but neither were happy at lunch time. According to DS2 his lunch was cake, mashed potato, crocodile and paper :rotfl:. I'm pretty sure the crocodile was actually chicken but who knows what the paper was!! The only thing I can see on the menu that was paper-like was a wrap type sandwich, so perhaps he had a wrap on it's own! Both boys get free school lunches because DS2 is part of the free school meals for all children up to year one initiative, but DS1 gets them too because of DH's condition and benefits. DS1 had chosen a sandwich, a drink and a cookie but when he got to the till the lady said he only had enough on his card for the sandwich so he had to put the other things back. When he told me this tonight I rang the school who said the free school meal allowance was £1.90 and the sandwich was £1.70!! £1.90 is enough to get the hot meal of the day deal which comes with a desert, but DS1 said he didn't like what that was :(. I need to find out if I can send more things in with him to bulk out what he has, or put extra money on his card. My friend said her daughter spent £3.27 on her lunch today!!

Put 5lbs on at fat class tonight :o:o.

  • Yay to the boys being back at school in beautiful new uniform, but as for the lunchtime disaster the poor pair! How is it possible to give him that little on his card, or provide a sandwich so expensive that that is all he can have. Surely that defeats the object of the whole scheme. DS2 made me laugh, crocodile and paper bless him! I still struggle to eat carrots thanks to primary school.. How can they make them taste like oranges?!

Whoopsie to fat class! Next week ;)

To yourself and Robin, I am sure SA is in agreement with me; we know you NEED the car battery. Undisputed that you need your car. But DON't call it a birthday present. Buy a 50p bar of chocolate and call that your present... anything, just not the battery!

I got the most awesome Vax from my daddy for my birthday this year Beanie. It is so high powered, it sucked up the lino in the kitchen by accident and ripped a hole, in the middle, not even by the edge!! :$ - but I really wanted it and would not have bought it otherwise. A car battery is on the necessities list. Houses can go without vacuum cleaners and still run ;) although if you leave it long enough the mess will grow legs and run for you... :D

I'm sure you can send DS1 in with more food... those cards are cool to top up as well though. You could probably buy a pack of cookies for the week from the supermarket for the price of the cookie in the canteen though!

Glad the car is back in action Lucky. Boo to the weight gain. Agree with Lilt you need a teeny weeny something for your birthday, maybe a nice bunch of flowers? I hope Mr Lucky bears in mind all you do and just how much you go without for your family. You wouldn't spend money on a tattoo would you? Your "me time" sounds like mine - I always think of something to do:)

  • DS1 managed to get a roast turkey dinner as a free school meal today but still didn't have enough for a drink or pudding. There is water available which is fine, but still think I will add more to his budget to get a pudding. That said, he took a mini pack of cookies in his bag with him incase that happened and didn't eat them, so he can't have been starving. DS2 had pizza and ate every pick to get a well done sticker!! Much better than yesterday's crocodile :rotfl:.

DH and I went back to the gym this morning which was good and kn@ckering in equal measure!! We then went food shopping and I now have £4 left until Friday. Fingers crossed nothing crops up tomorrow!

Hope everyone is well. Thanks for your input Lilt and SA Xx

Wish I could get Mr SA interested in the gym even if it was just swimming, I think it would be beneficial, maybe build up his strength. Did Mr Lucky ever have mobility issues? I know they both have different reasons for their brain injuries but I'm just wondering really if it all boils down to the same thing in the end? I think Mr Lucky's done really well all considered. The human body is an amazing thing really.

Mr Lucky didn't really have any mobility issues apart from broken bones (ribs and clavicle), being confused about what he was doing and not being able to sit still! He used to wander round in circles and it was quite exhausting trying to keep up. He was always into muscle training before the accident, but after we were told seizures were less likely the fitter you are, he has got into running, cycling and swimming as well. Obviously swimming is more dangerous in terms of seizure, but it's a nice easy way to exercise and I'm sure you are right in thinking Mr SA would benefit. Could he not go with his carer? Xx

Will look into the swimming as he was a good swimmer before. He's too scared to now in case he gets into difficulties but surely the local leisure centre must have special facilities for disabled people? Unfortunately I can't swim - I was thrown into a river by an idiot many many years ago and almost drowned which has resulted in a phobia of water ever since. I still get flashbacks.
