    :wave:Hi plmbl,
It sounds as though you are having a good Easter holiday. I definitely think EH is a great buy because there are so many properties in the area. some are EH and NT so you can still get in with EH membership. As well as all the huge castles are some smaller gems. My kids loved Aydon castle near Corbridge. It is a lot smaller so when they had events on they managed to get a look in as they weren't pushy children.

Well done on the weight loss. I still haven't managed to move mine. My knees are giving me a lot of bother so I am thinking of rejoining the gym. £15 a month is a lot though...

Sounds like you had a good day

Membership of heritage site sounds like a good idea. Sometimes when you take out membership following a visit you can be refunded the cost of your tickets so check that out. Also I think Mr T are now doing instant printable deals so you may be able to make use of membership immediately

Your sis is a darling, isn't she, clearly made from the same caring mould as you

Granny, she certainly is a darling! So thoughtful. She always asks how we are with money and I answer honestly. She gave me all the money she had with her :A. It's strange having our roles reversed though as she's 6 years younger than me and deaf, so it's always been me looking out for her.

I was on the mobile site for clubcard and it may be different on the desktop site, but it definitely said they would send the vouchers out with an EH application form. I will check it again though thank you Xx

20lbs weight loss is amazing, and sometimes a hold is as good as a loss if you'e had a crazy week. I'm carrying some excess hot cross bun weight, hoping that'll fall off of it's own accord. :rotfl:

Hi pooh, good to see you.

Will definitely check out Aydon castle thank you. Sounds perfect.

I agree £15 per month is a lot. I justify it because it covers both DH and I and we use it a lot. It's cheaper than going for coffee once a week but come the summer we could do just as well going for long walks. It's definitely helped with the weight loss though.

  • DH went for a 10k run with his friend this morning (the one who gets married next week!). I was glad he got to go as it perked him up no end, but it took up most of the morning by the time they ran, then friend came in for a drink, then DH got showered and changed etc. By this time we had missed most of the family fun day we had planned to go to so we decided not to bother. To be honest I'd been worried about going with no money and the kids being upset that they couldn't go on the rides etc so I was a little relieved. The sun keeps disappearing behind the clouds also and it's very windy too, so whilst it's been great for drying washing outside, it might not have been so pleasant in the woods anyway.

A couple of new films arrived from L0vef1lm, including Hotel Transylvania which the boys really wanted to see, so we are having a dvd afternoon instead. I'm at work later, but as long as I don't buy anything my NSD should be safe :D

    Blessing in disguise, huh?! ;):)

Used to have LoveFilm when we didn't have a TV, but find there's usually something on freeview to suit! :)

    Hi Lucky

Sorry if I upset you with my post on Robin's page - I know every head injury is different, so hadn't wanted to raise the spectre of violence. I had no contact with ex DH for more than 5 years after our divorce, (which in itself took 5 years) but in the last few years we have been able to establish a friendship. My youngest son (now 27) engineered a meeting, as he was just about to become a father and wanted us to be able to both be comfortable at social events like weddings and christenings. Little did DS2 know at the time but it would be a god-send when he was in huge trouble and needed us both to support him (which we did).

Life, in all it's rich tapestry, is so unpredictable, isn't it!

Anyway, it's great having MSE friends with such a wealth of experience to bounce things off, and offload when things get tough.

    Hugs for you xx

  • Satchmo sweetie you didn't upset me (apart from being sad that you had to go through that!) In a weird way it made me appreciate that DH 'only' verbalises his temper on occassions rather than physically expresses it. That would be a dealbreaker for me no matter how much I love him, particularly if it was towards one of the children.
I hope our dear friend Robin is ok Xx

HAW, I really like l0vef1lm, but the time is almost due to cancel it again. I like it when they tempt me back with reduced price offers :p.
You will be pleased to hear I achieved my NSD :T

Granny work went ok thank you. It just ticked over nicely Xx

I love the way we're all looking out for each other on here! And it is good to share our own experiences esp if it helps someone else :)

ha ha :) I know what you mean!! Took me about 6 months to cancel. Every time they kept telling me I had £6 credit or something, yet somehow managed to keep charging me?? I don't get it!! Finally got left about 6 weeks ago. Tempted to maybe take it on over the summer again for the girls....

    HAPPY FRIDAY :D:D:D

  • Happy friday HAW (and everyone else). Hope you have a fab weekend away Granny Xx

Today is MIL's best friend's birthday so we all went to a cafe for lunch. We bought her a small box of yankee candles (£5.99) and you'd think we had given her the world :D She said we shouldn't have got her anything as we can't afford it, but she has been soooooo good to us and the boys I couldn't not. The worst part was lunch cost £16  and I feel we should have put that towards the present and not eaten out!

Afterwards we took the boys to a softplay, but it was one in a council run leisure centre so we got it cheaper because of DH's disability card. It was only 90p per boy, £1.80 in total :T There were a few other kids there when we got there but they left soon after, so my two had it all to themselves :D.

Pay day today so pressure is off a little, but not a lot as it's my first month of pay reflecting 3 hours per week. I got my payslips back from DWP today, but that's all. No letter to say if they will be paying any overpayment (which they should), so I tried to call to ask but the staff are on strike this afternoon. I don't blame the staff in the slightest, I know how overworked they are and how they need way more staff, it's just another bit of proof that my luck sucks :p
