Thank you Mummytogirls!
This morning we went to the gym, leaving the boys with MIL for an hour. Any qualms I had about DH going to the gym after his seizure were outweighed by him needing an hour away from DS1, who was being a little toad and winding DH up (more than it should have!). It all went fine and we were back home and all friends again for lunch.
It's my cousin's son's 11th birthday today and we were invited to go bowling with them this afternoon. The boys had 2 games of bowling followed by burger and chips and it didn't cost us a penny. My Mum, Grandma, 2 Aunties and an Uncle were there too so it was good to catch up.
Afterwards we went to Mr A's and spent a small fortuneUnfortunately, this was also when the Devil Child started again and it ended with screaming ab-dabs (me not him!) in the cereal aisle. I was absolutely furious and he ended up in his room when he got home. I've had yet another talk to him about his behaviour and he's been as good as gold since, but it's really starting to wear me down. He's rude, lazy, answers back, never does as he's asked, thinks we are his servants and that we owe him anything he desires. He is an eight year old teenager and whilst I still think DH is too hard on him, it's starting to be hard to see the positives in his behaviour. Something major has to change and he has been warned!!

So sorry to hear that things are so tough again, especially after having your successes with the Carers allowance et all
At 8 your DS could be enrolled with the cadet branch of St John Ambulance. Is he in your beavers pack? Do they do a first aid badge that early?
Ref DS1 behaviour. He could be acting out from being very frightened by seeing his dad fitting, especially if this was the first one he had seen, where you weren't there to take control.....
On the other hand he might just be being a little monster, in which case start taking things out of his room each time he misbehaves. Explain he will have to earn each thing back with good behaviour. It may be a battle of wills, it may be he ends up sleeping on a mattress on the floor, but he will come right in the end.
good luck
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks for taking the time to post Chev! DS1 has continued to behave well and it's making a big difference. When he was put in his room yesterday it was without all his favourite stuff and he hated it, so I think it's been a stark warning. I had a good chat to him before I let him out of his room and asked him why he thought his behaviour was bad and if anything was troubling him, and he answered don't know/no, so I'm not sure it has anything to do with his Dad. I told him that I love him very much but sometimes I don't like him/his behaviour and that he has to think of the others in the household. When I was younger, I hated it when my Mum blamed me for my sister's bad behaviour because I was 'the oldest and should know better', but to be honest most of the fights are DS1's fault (though I'm quick to tell DS2 off infront of DS1 when it is the little one's fault!). I also told DS1 that things were tough and I need him to be my ally not my enemy as I need all the help I can get.
In terms of Beavers, the boys do a Safety badge which covers some First Aid. DS1 has moved up to Cubs and they do it a bit more indepth there but St Johns is a good idea thank you Xx
On the positive, we've had a lovely morning with the boys as I always do an egg hunt from the Easter Bunny and they enjoyed it immensely.
Today would have been FIL's birthday so we are spending the afternoon with MIL. A local private estate (owned by a Lord) is opening it's gates for one afternoon only to raise funds for charity and they are having a fete and pony rides, as well as just being able to see the lovely gardens etc. DH used to play cricket in the Pavillion in there when he was a boy, so he's keen to see it again. I've never been as it's been closed to the public for a lot of years, so I'm interested to see it.
Happy Easter everyone XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Well hello Superman :A:A:A I'm honoured you are spreading the love in my direction!!
Mary I swear by Slimming World, the only time it doesn't work is when I don't stick to it. The old fashioned way of SW is red/green days and being vegetarian I stick to green. This gives you unlimited potatoes/pasta/rice and limited amounts of meat/fish/poultry (which I don't need anyway). On a red day you have unlimited meat/fish/poultry but limit your potatoes/pasta. The new version is called extra easy and you can have unlimited amounts of all the things mentioned. It's a healthy eating plan not a diet.
Stripes, thank you for your kind words. I feel you and Mary are both way more amazing than me though, for what you do for your cherubs :A
Today has been lovely but totally off plan. We got to the private estate to find a notice postponing the event for 2 weeks due to the recent adverse weather conditions! We decided to keep heading in the direction we were facing and ended up at a park in Morpeth. The sun was shining and the boys loved being outdoors - it seems such a long time since we were last able to do that! We then stopped for coffee which MIL paid for, but I was conned into a pack of sausage rolls by DS1 on the way back to the car so not a NSD but a LSD. We called to see MIL's best friend on the way home as she had an Easter egg each for the boys so that was lovely too.
DS1 has been well behaved all day :j It's been lovely to be able to praise him.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Another nice day! Went to a free egg hunt at a local garden centre. Lots of pink and blue plastic eggs were hidden amongst the plants and each one entitled the child who found it to a standard size Easter egg. There was however, one golden egg hidden which won a giant egg, and DS1 found it! We came away with enough chocolate to sink a battleship and it cost us nothing! I would've felt guilty, but MIL spent a small fortune on plants etc while we were there!
We've then been out for Mum's fiance's 60th birthday meal. Food and company were both lovely (and free to us which was even better). It only cost us 60p to park the car, and a card and present which we would've bought anyway.
We called in to Mr A's on the way home as I forgot loo rolls the other day . So with that and the parking, it's been another LSD.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

So glad you have had a couple of nice days with your lovely family.
DS is probably seeking more attention and will definitely benefit from being told how much you need him to help you keep the house happy
