  • A very spendy day today because we got our new bathroom :j. £350 for the bath, sink, and toilet with all the taps etc. Amazingly this was £50 more because we needed a slightly smaller than standard bath and less bath = more money apparently . Anyway, just got to pin DH's best friend down to a day he can help DH fit it now and get a shower, shower screen and tiles organised. I'm pretty sure we will get it all done sub £1k which is way better than the £4.5k quote we got from a plumber recently .

On the subject of DH though, he has hurt his leg and its been getting worse not better for the past 5 days. I'm going to take him to the walk in centre tomorrow (though truth be told he will be limping in not walking in!!).

Oh and I nearly forgot, we cancelled the Santander credit card this morning :j:T:j.

  • Well DH is now on crutches :(. It's probably cartilage damage as the xray didnt show anything obvious, but it may take 6-8 weeks to heal . In the meantime it means that he needs to rest up as much as possible (is it bad that I'm selfishly seeing this is yet more work on my overspilling plate?:o). On a positive note though the car park pay machine was out of order at the hospital so £2.40 saved :rotfl:.

Can't believe half term is over :(. Back to job one in the morning :(.

Joking of course. Us women have broad shoulders and sh*t just keeps getting piled onto them. At least at work you can escape from life for a wee while. Chin up xx

  • Oh my goodness, thats terrible news!! I know what you mean about seeing things in the context of how much work it is for yourself. Just try to look after yourself as best you can, because not only do we get all the work we also do not get the option of time off when we are sick :(

I agree entirely, just look at your time at work as a break from home... although if your anything like me you just stress that you are coming back to no one talking to each other and everyone is a bad mood surrounded by chaos :rotfl:!

Make sure you stay on here everyday, at least then we can make feeble attempts to cheer you up.

I don't know if this will make you laugh, but it definately took my mind off my troubles, OH is a manchester fireman and he got called out last night to remove a s*x toy from a 69 year old man... they had to use the air cut off tool that they use for car crashes (and they made the man sign a disclaimer first in case the worst happened), I know this is completely unrelated to your current problems but it made me smile so much, there is always someone having a worse day than me (although not sure whether it was the man in question or the firemen :o!!

    Keep your chin up

Thanks MIT. Work wasn't too bad this morning, but one of the girls announced she was leaving when we break up for summer so not sure how that will affect things as she's second in command.

    O...M....G!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

When good days go bad eh????!!!!! You are right, even when I'm having a really rotten day, and least I don't need a fire crew to pull something out of an orriface :D.

Had the speech therapist round today to do an initial assessment on DS2 which I requested back in January when he only had a couple of words in his vocabulary. Since then though he has improved quite a lot so they said he's probably just a late developer and to give it another 6 months before they start working with him if I still feel it's necessary. They thought he was delightful though and very intelligent with a marvellous concentration span for a 2 year old. Very proud Mummy!!!

Off to make tea, then run Beaver's and then I'll be back to catch up on everyone's diaries Xx

Thats excellent news about DS2. How is DH??

If you get loaded with extra work when your colleague leaves hmaybe you could renegotiate for a bit more money??

Glad you seem to be having a better day today :D

  • Thanks Splodge! DH is ok today after a shaky morning. He couldn't get up with DS2 this morning when he woke at 6.30am as he felt he couldn't manage to guide him down the stairs with his dodgy leg, so I got up with him. No problems there except DH then stayed in bed for another hour leaving me to rush round doing everything and being late getting in the shower. When he surfaced he insisted on trying to help while on crutches which by this point was actually the last thing I wanted as he took ages over everything and kept getting in the way so we ended up snapping at each other. It's funny now but at the time I wanted to wrap his crutches round his neck :rotfl:.

I kind of fell in to working at the playgroup as my friend works there and she suggested me as a stand in for sick leave and then they kept me on. Before I had DS1 I was actually a bank manager (shhh don't tell anyone :o). So I'm not really qualified to demand extra wages at the playgroup until I've finished all my training. I'm not sure that it's what I want to keep doing but it fits perfectly with looking after the kids and DH at the moment.
