Wow. Have just found you and read through. Had to admit to tears. I thought my life was tough just now but you win hands down. You are like me in many ways though as you can have a wee moan and rant, get hurt to the core and have a cry and then dust yourself down and get up and tart again with smile plastered onto your face. My cousin had fluid on his brain which has caused brain damage and his mood swings can be horrendous. His wife describes him on bad days as being barking
but she is an angel the way she takes care of him. Most of his life is perfectly normal and then he has really bad days where even his face twists and his voice changes. It's been awful for them but humour and the love of their family and friends gets them through it all. I'm ashamed as I rarely see them these days and I used to be there all the time but unfortunately my own caring duties for my mum have taken over most of my life. Hey ho sometimes life is sh*te but thankfully when you are lucky enough to be surrounded by fabulous people it is fine the rest of the time.
Knickers !! Hmm less said about mine the better..................nearly typed knockers there and tbh the same could be said for them too :rotfl:5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Hi MiT :hello: I'm sorry I made you cry
, it wasn't my intention honest
though I hope you felt better afterwards. Sometimes it's good to let it all out and I know how strong you are being looking after your Mum :A. I always stand by the saying 'If everyone threw their problems in the air, you'd be happy to catch your own'. It keeps me grounded knowing there are always others worse than you! In my opinion, you win the competition (though I don't think either of us really want the title:rotfl:).
Sometimes DH is so normal I forget about the accident for a little while. He's always had a brilliant sense of humour and we are best friends, it's just that he is more forgetful now and needs prompting. He's given up drinking and smoking since the accident and he is a wonderful househusband now - I rarely have to wash a dish or use the hoover :j. On the bad days though I can't leave him alone at all and he needs babysitting when I'm at work. He swings from depressed to angry to panicked to confused in a matter of minutes. I sympathise with your cousin and his wife, it's really not fun!
Don't even get me started on knockers :rotfl:! The whole reason I haven't felt able to buy a new bra is that they are so expensive when you practically need two parachutes sewn together.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

:)Not sure if 'congratulations' is the right word for such an anniversary but, it will have to do. When we got to 12 months since OH accident I vividly remember saying to myself... 'thats it, I survived the worst year of our lives' and , tbh, things have definately been on the turn ever since, albeit in frustratingly small ways!! so, definately congratulations on surviving your 'worst year' :T.
I am sorry to say we did not make the most of the jubilee celebrations in our village as I couldn't face taking DD out in that weather... she only has to look at the rain out the window and she goes under with a cold for about a fortnight !
Hope that your DH good days will keep outnumbering the bad

Thanks Splodge!! I definitely see it as most people see New Years Day, the first day of a brand new year and please god let it be a better one than last year!
We went to yet another Jubilee fete today as the weather looked great here this morning. It was a bit of a disappointment though as the people who were meant to bring the bouncy castle, inflatable bungee run and the rock climbing wall didnt turn up. My eldest was not impressed!! Still it filled in a little time while we meandered the stalls and then the rain started so we headed back to the car. My poor washing was soaked on the line when we got back .
We then priced up some bathroom suites to see how doable a new bathroom would be if we did it ourselves. It has always been a possible plan with some of the inheritance money we have left, but I keep bouncing between thinking it's a good idea and then wanting to pay more off the debts instead. A new suite is possible for £300 but then we need a new shower and tiles too. Mind you our bathroom is in danger of being closed down by health and safety anyway so it may well be a need rather than a want :rotfl:.
Got weighed tonight also and I've stayed the same. Not really surprised as I had popcorn and pizza yesterday and I can't get away with anything! Going to try harder this week though.
OOOOH and something else wonderfully weird happened!! My sister text out of the blue asking for my bank details but wouldn't tell me why (though I knew it had to be to make a transfer in as she would never do anything to take anything out). When I checked my account she'd transferred in £1k!!!! She said it was to pay off the remainder of my Santander credit card balance and get it closed off and she would talk to me about it when she comes for tea tomorrow night :j:j:j. Now, my sister is deaf so all our conversations when not face to face are conducted by text so it's hard to have in depth conversations and guage intention/reaction, so I'm not entirely sure if its a gift or loan and if it is a loan how/when she wants it back. But either way it will save us a heap of interest and will make all our debt either 0% or 5.9% and for that I'm truly grateful :A.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

OMG what a fabulous sister. It must be a week for fabulous sisters, our dishwasher gave up the ghost on bank holiday monday and whilst moaning on the phone to my sister she announced that she had a spare one in her garage and we could come down and collect it whenever we wanted... yay :T, not quite £1000 but definately felt like it to me.
Definately get yourself a new bathroom, although we are paying off these debts we do still need to live rather than exist in the meantime, I'm sure if you shop around you can find a great deal on tiles, especially if you don't want anything too fancy, and definately with all the 'jubilee' deals still around everywhere.

You're right neither of us want that title
so we just carry on and do what we do.
I desperately need a new bathroom. I got one put in about 8 years ago but the guy who fitted the suite was a cowboy and it has never been right. The woman who did the tiling was clueless ( it was me) so although it is done she had no idea how to do corners etc so it is untidy looking. The flooring is now ripped and DS loves picking bits off of it . Just needs done professionally. I have 2 friends who are very houseproud and are constantly doing their houses up, both have had their bathrooms done recently and OMG I swear I would live in either of them as they are stunning. Oh well I just dont have the money for these things so I will just have to content myself with my skanky bathroom and kitchen and lounge and hall and bedrooms and garden :rotfl:.

Yay :j:T to your sister too.
My sister has no children. She has a good job which I'm very proud of her for achieving despite her profound disability, and has lovely holidays etc. I've helped her all her life as I'm 6 years older and she has faced many problems and barriers due to her disabilitiy, but I'd never expect her to give us anything as she has been sensible with money her whole life and we haven't so it's our problem not hers. She has helped us with shopping etc on occasions since the accident but this latest cash was totally out of the blue. Will update after I've spoken to her tonight as to how the land lies with it.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

I love this :rotfl:.
We moved in to our house 11 years ago and the bathroom was already shabby then. We've done nothing more than replace the shower curtain a few times and paint the walls white again (only the bits around the bath and shower are tiled).
