  • I think so too Jackie!!

So today has been my first NSD for AGES :T. Infact I can't even remember when the last one was :o. Definitely something I can try to improve on.

Job 1 was fine this morning and then I went to a friend's after lunch for our youngest boys to play with each other. Unfortunately her boy pushed DS2 into the corner of a toy box and he now has a swollen lip and a scrape from the corner of his lip up to his nostril :(. He's still gorgeous though, just looks a little like a cage fighter :rotfl:.

Don't know if I mentioned it but I signed back up to L0vef1lm after they sent me a 3 months for the price of 1 offer to entice me back. I originally went with them as a Gr0upon deal, 3 months for £6, and we really enjoyed catching up on all the latest releases but I cancelled when it came to an end. That was just after christmas so there have been several new films since then and I thought it was worth the £9.99 for 3 months they were offering. Long story short, for this reason we then watched a dvd this afternoon after collecting DS1 from school. And another one when the kids went to bed :D.

  • Last day at job 1 today for 10 days :j:j:j. However, today is supposed to be payday and nothing is in the bank yet . The girl who pays our wages dropped off our payslips at noon so we assumed that meant she had done them (she pays them by instant transfer so they can go in anytime), but when we all checked our bank accounts there was nothing there. The boss says she will chase it tomorrow if nothing in by then. Luckily it's also payday for job 2 tomorrow and we still have a float from DH's inherritance so we aren't going to miss any d/d's due out regardless.

Went to Mr T's this afternoon and spent £60 on shopping and then got home to find the Healthy Start vouchers had arrived in the post :rotfl:. Typical! I'm off out shortly to collect DH's prescription from the Drs and then its chilli con carne for tea :D.

  • I've been paid :j:j:j:j.

DH is glued to a programe about the Isle of Man TT so I'm going to spend the next couple of hours catching up on some competitions. Haven't won anything for ages so here's hoping!

  • A jam-packed day!!

Weighed in the old clothes retrieved from Tuesday's wardrobe clearout and got the princely sum of £3.12 :rotfl:. Never mind though, that almost covered the cost of the cat litter at £3.29 in the next shop! Next was Arg0s and I got a new toaster after the old one finally gave up the ghost after 9 years! (It was a wedding present I don't normally keep a record of my appliance's birthdays :rotfl:). It was on offer at £23 but I still had the £10 voucher I got for free when I bought my washing ,achine from them, so it actually cost £13:T.
Also got a free 'sample' of wallpaper while we were out, to cover the ripped bit in my bedroom for when we get sorted enough to decorate:D. Need to do a bootsale first though as there is a huge pile of stuff slowly taking over the room. The idea is that the money we make from the bootsale will pay for the paint and hopefully a new carpet.

Met MIL and a friend for lunch which cost us £17:eek:. Strange how things change, at one time I would've thought that was cheap, or worse I would'nt have even noticed how much it cost!:o

Came home and cleaned the kitchen and then got ready and went for a 4 hour shift at job 2. It made a massive difference not having to do both jobs in 1 day though so not as tiring tonight despite it being busy.

Only downside to today was DH kept feeling panicky :(. He started the trazadone last night though so fingers crossed it kicks in and helps in the next 2-3 weeks.

  • Not in the best mood tonight :(.

Day started off ok, (if a little early with DS2 waking at 6.40am!) and we all had a lazy morning. After an early lunch I picked up DS1's friend and took them both to their gymnastics. While they were there we met my Mum, Grandma and Auntie for coffee which was nice. Grandma gave us £5 to pay for our drinks but then my Auntie actually paid and Grandma wouldn't take the cash back so we were £5 up.

It's DH's birthday soon and he wants a good camera which will be sort of achieveable if everyone gives him money and we pool it all together. So after we collected the boys from gymnastics and dropped the friend home, off we trotted round looking at cameras. Boy is there lots to consider, so I suggested to DH that he did some research on the internet. DS1 then wanted to spend his pocket money on a magazine and while we were in there DH looked at the photography magazines. He of course then decided he needed one and I swear all I said in a nice voice was 'how much is it?' and he went in a proper strop and snappily told me to forget it. Now normally I'm used to the mood swings but today I just couldn't handle it. I'm desperate for a new bra :o, new trainers and at least one new pan (if not a new set) but I keep putting it all off as I don't feel I can justify spending on myself. I do everything I can to keep everyone happy and I don't feel its appreciated. When I'm not working I'm always looking for little ways to save or make more money and I hate paying over the odds or for something you can get for free. (He got the magazine anyway, it was £4.10). Then when we got home I asked DS1 to help set the table for tea and he said no  which didn't impress me either. He's 7 going on 13 but I'm sick of all the take and no give. I've hardly spoken to either of them all evening which isn't me at all.

Since I started this post though, Ed Sheeran has been on the tv singing 'small bump' and it pushed me over the edge. The tears flowed and DH came running to comfort me. It's such a sad song anyway but it stings more at the minute as the baby I lost would have been due recently. Anyway, DH knew he had upset me but couldn't remember how or why :rotfl:so we had a good talk and I feel better now.

So onwards and upwards, will try my best to get back to the usual 'I can deal with anything' PLMBL!

Oh my goodness PLMBL, this is possibly one of the most inspiring diaries on here. It struck so many chords with me. My other half had a head injury following a cycling accident 18 months ago and had to have 2 metal plates inserted. Obviously nowhere near as bad as your DH as he was back at work after 5 months, but the SSP really killed us (as I too was practically a SAHM).

I am just like you, I have a list of things I need to buy (my trainers are 14 years old , I cut my own hair with the kitchen scissors and cannot actually remember the last time I bought myself something new to wear (I have a recurring nightmare about Gok Wan coming round to do that thing where he goes through your knicker drawer... :rotfl:) I think maybe all us Mum's on here should give ourselves a blanket permission slip to buy ourselves something that we desperately need... we can always justify spending a few piunds here and there on the OH and the kids.

Anyway, I have subscribed to your thread as I need a push myself to get everything cleared.

Thank you for sharing what must be such a difficult time with everyone on here :A

  • Hi splodge, thank you so much for your lovely comment :A. It's nice to know my ramblings are actually of use to someone!! And I love the Gok comment :rotfl: Sometimes I think I'd be less embarrassed if I was caught going commando than in some of the horrors in my knicker drawer :D
I'm sorry to hear about your OH's accident. I hope things are better for you both now, lord knows it's not easy. Good luck with getting everything cleared & please keep posting, we can spur each other on Xx

  • In a better mood today :D. I didn't sleep very well but DH got up with the boys so that I could have a lie in so I still feel rested.

We are off to some 'free' jubilee celebrations in the next village after lunch. I'm sure it will end up costing us some money though as they have rides etc there, but the boys were given some spends by MIL's friend when we saw her on Friday so I'm hoping to keep within that. Later we are going to a disco at a softplay which I got as a Livings0cial deal (£5 for 2 tickets). It came out of last month's budget so it kind of feels like a free activity today.

Fingers crossed for a good mood day all round! Xx

  • Well we are all still friends :rotfl::rotfl:. Few dodgy moments where I could see DH was getting wound up/fed up but we managed to rein it in between us.

The fair was ok, managed to spend less than £4 :j. DS1 had a union jack painted on his arm, hooked a duck and played a golf game a few times. DS2 had his first ever pony ride - soooo cute! They also did some arty stuff for free. Afterwards we had half an hour to kill so we went to the park and then on to the disco thing at the softplay which went well, although it cost us another £7 for drinks in the 2 hours we were there :(.

It's a year tomorrow since DH's accident . In some ways it feels much longer but in other ways I can't believe its been a year already. I kind of want to do something really nice tomorrow to start laying good memories down on the date, and also to celebrate the fact that we are all still together and not mourning a year since he died which it very possibly could have been. Money is a consideration though as I want to stretch it out as much as possible over the week, and also the weather but thankfully it's supposed to be nice. Will get my thinking cap on.

  • Well the day is here - a year today since the accident!! Had a few 'OMG, this time last year was when the police called' etc type moments, but overall it's felt like a really positive day and the start of a fresh new year :j.

We were going to go to a National trust place for a day out but just before we were ready to leave the Heavens opened! It was just a short burst but a heavy and unpredicted one and we didn't much fancy spending all that money if it was to continue raining. So instead we went shopping for a few bits and managed to get the camera DH wanted on special offer with £60 off :D. His Mum, my Mum and and my sister have all promised to give him cash towards it for his birthday next week so I can put the money back in the emergency account then. DH is over the moon :T.

We then came home and had a movie afternoon with the DVDs that had arrived on Sat from L0vef1lm. So not the bestest ever day but a nice one all the same.

Tonight, DS1, DH and MIL have gone to watch the local Beacon Lighting and fireworks. It doesn't even start until 10pm, so far too late for DS2 and I'm feeling a bit run down so I offered to stay home (and chill out!!).
