  • I keep trying to tell myself no one can be upset about £84k being knocked off their mortgage, but life would be so much easier without the other £26k either.:o

DH has taken himself off for a lie down. We've been to the job centre this morning to conform with their red tape (read 'money wasting'!) and I think thats what has started his panicking and feeling sick etc. I wasn't worried about the meeting in the slightest, and as I thought, the advisor was surprised he'd been asked to go in. Basically he'd passed a medical in March by one of their Drs, but the Dr had put on the form that he didn't think DH would be long term sick so he was then invited to interview to see if JCP could help him put things in place for when he's ready to return to work. I totally agree he wont be incapable of work forever, but we've always been told it can be a 2 year recovery period after a head injury and we are almost at the 1 year mark now. Anyway, we did what they asked and he gets extra money per week now because of it so thats never a bad thing.

Must get ready to get DS1 from school now and then I'm at job 2 tonight :( I was up last night from 1am to 2am with DS2 and then it took until 3am for me to get back to sleep as DH was snoring so I'm shattered. Its me that needs the lie down!

    Hang on....

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    Ok, feel better now :o

**Whinge Alert** Still feeling a bit down :(, DS2 getting up at 5.30am didnt help!(Think he might have an ear infection, double :(). Neither did the customer that shouted at my colleague in job 2 last night. It wasn't aimed at me but it was a horrible atmosphere and I hate confrontation like that. Job 1 wasn't bad this morning but I was so tired it seemed to drag. DH is a bit better than he was yesterday but still confused and quite down, its a little like living with an Alzheimers sufferer. I want to run away and hide, cant even have any chocolate to cheer me up!!

Anyhow, Sister is coming over for tea again tonight as a last minute thing (Luckily I was making a roast chicken dinner anyway so plenty to stretch to another meal. I'm veggie, the others aren't, so there's always loads of meat left over). Hopefully she can cheer me up.

Had my buildings and contents insurance renewal through the post today as well so that's something to get my teeth into and see if we can make more savings there. Feel like I've taken my foot off the pedal a bit with the money making recently so have to get my thinking cap on again.

    Hi plmbl,

I'm so sorry you have had such a hugely traumatic year.
Am very impressed with your positive attitude, though. Sounds to me like you are doing so well. Really hope your OH keeps improving.

You deserve some absolutely fantastic luck!

  • Thank you teatime that's so very kind of you :A.

Had a good chat with my sis tonight and its perked me up a bit. Hopefully I'll get a decent night's sleep tonight and I'll feel even better tomorrow. (I hope so, I've got a shift at both jobs again yawn!).

So, I've given myself a talking to and there's lots of people out there in a worse position than us, so I promise to stop whingeing and get on with it now :D.

  • Hi naomim :hello: nice to 'see' you!

Well after a super-busy-rushed-off-my-feet shift at Mr A's, I'm home and fed and looking forward to 2 whole days off from both jobs :j:j:j:j. Bliss!

Plans for the weekend include taking DS1 to a party, gymnastics and the children's cancer run, searching online for cheaper home insurance and energy supplier, catching up on competitions, doing survey, cleaning the house and anything else that I can't think of now as I'm too tired. Off to bed now, night all.

Plans for the weekend include taking DS1 to a party (done), gymnastics (done) and the children's cancer run (tomorrow), searching online for cheaper home insurance (done) and energy supplier, catching up on competitions, doing surveys, (all planned for this evening)cleaning the house (done bare minimum:rotfl:)

Super thrilled at the house insurance results! Renewal came through at £282.25 but I've just signed up elsewhere for £134.86!!! :jAnd we get a meercat :D And we get rid of Santander for something else :T. Don't know which bit I'm most excited about :rotfl:.

  • So DH and DS1 did the 5 mile children's cancer run in under an hour this morning :T:T:T Super proud of both of them. There were thousands of people there and it was hard to keep DS2 (aged 2) entertained, but I managed it with the help of a fairground ride (£2) and a hot doughnut (70p)! I was desperate for a doughnut too as they smelled devine, but I was a good girl and didn't have one. Not a bad morning out for £2.70 and it put DH in a great mood as he felt a sense of achievement for doing it :D.

Still need to organise the gas and electric switch so will try to get onto that this evening, but for now its teatime and then bath time for the kids.

  • Still haven't done the gas and elec switch :o Will try to do this tonight or tomorrow as I'm off then.

Had a busy day so far, job 1 this morning and then shopping this afternoon. Weighed in some old clothes for the grand sum of £1.90 :rotfl:. Its a joke really but better than I'd get by putting them in the bin.

Had some really sad news today that a lad I knew has had an epileptic fit and died :(. His sister commited suicide a few years ago so his poor parents are down to just one remaining child from three. I know we've had a carp year but at least we are all still here. I can't even begin to imagine how they feel and it puts everything into perspective. I'll be cuddling my 2 extra tight tonight.

Off to make tea and then its Beaver's night tonight, so heading out there in an hour or so. We are doing the water safety badge so I envisage lots of pretend drowning and general chaos. Gotta love a group of 6-8 year old boys :rotfl:.

  • A productive day so far :D. I have:-

    1) Cancelled the Santander home insurance renewal and enjoyed telling them to shove their ridiculous quote :rotfl:.
    2) Chased OH's outstanding benefit payment of £145 that they have owed us for weeks and I have a promise it will be in the account on Friday :T
    3) Paid the normal monthly payment to credit card 2 and calculated how much we now owe exactly to the penny.
    4) Changed Gas and Elec supplier to save us £245 per year :j
    5) Called home phone and broadband provider as the internet has been slow the last week or so but they are aware of a fault and expect it fixed by Thurs. Took the opportunity to find out how long I'm tied to them for and it's Feb next year :(.
    6) Chivvied DH along to put up another light in the loft (which we've needed since he boarded it all out), so we can actually see to use the space that's there! This means a) we can sort through loft and make it tidy, b) add more to the bootsale pile and make more cash and c) put more of the bags of stuff that are taking over my bedroom up into the loft where they belong. And most importantly, d) it made DH feel he has done something useful. Just need to find the time to get up there and sort through now :rotfl:.
    7) Took DS2 to the softplay that I have my 10 sessions through Groupon for, so it felt like a freebie as the payment came out of a previous budget:).
    8) Sorted through a pile of paperwork.
    9) cleaned bathroom.

Off for week 4 weigh in of my slimmathon shortly. I've been super good again so hoping to see a decent result. Wish me luck!
