rockaroni you shouldn't be going around peoples homes begging for money because thats what it is anyone at my door ignoring the sign will get a peace of my mind regardless of a sign or not I do not want beggers, salesman or anyone other than people I know

No one should give personnel details to beggers at the door no mater who ther suppose to represent for all I know you could be a scammer and as for charity I give money when I want to and not made to feel guilty in process. Chugging is immoral and any charity I know does this will not receive one penny from me

4 signs 1 under letterbox above and 1 in face 1 on door bell still knock I.m disabled and use 2 walking sticks to get to door and was told when asked for id you get me sacked

    That's terrible :(

    That is manipulation.
Tell them so, and tell them the problems you have getting to the door.

I would take a note of all the organisations these people work for and either phone or email them to complain.
Tell them the problems your disability gives you.

Try to speak to a 'higher up' There used to be a website with companies listing their chief executive. The site was to help people with complaints communcate with the chief exec of said company.
Cheif executives don't like complaints about their company and usually get things done.

    hope that is helpful

Its about time the government banned cold calls once and for all no matter who they are, at the very least make the companies accountable and be able to fine them if people put notices up. Anyone who ignores the sign faces discipline

I do not want these parasites at my door no matter who they are I dont give a damn

I've had JWs ask if my parents were in when I answered the door (I was 26)- cue my puzzled face "ermmmm I own this house..." followed by tumbleweed and them backing up the driveway trying to pretend they don't exist.

I had Talk Talk at our last house while we were waiting to be connected to them and the guy at the door tried to convince us to cancel our current order and sign up with him as it would be quicker

My MIL told me about JWs arriving at her house one day approx 20 years ago, she didn't answer the door so they knocked on the window as they saw her. MIL proceded to open the window and let them know that her mother was currently in hospital dying and her husband had recently run off with her best friend leaving her to raise her kid on her own and that God should f'ing well turn up himself right now rather than send his salespeople (all this was true). To be perfectly honest I'm not sure they've ever dare return to that house.

A note as an Avon rep - the no cold caller signs are confusing to me as I have so many customers who have one but order regularly that I tend to ignore them when dropping brochures. I would respect a no brochure sign though however I haven't come across one. I do have a system with people who do not return catalogues- I will knock to ask for it the first time, if they haven't aswered and do not return the second one then I don't return- why waste my/their time or my money. I also put a slip in with EVERY brochure that has a tick box if they do not want to receive it again whether its the first time I've given them one or they've ordered 20 times previously and changed their minds.
If you come to a house saying "no cold callers" you could still knock, and say to them "I see you have a no cold callers sign, I don't want to bother you if you are not interested, but some of my other customers also have this sign, and therefore I have not been delivering leaflets to these people, however I have since heard that they do want a brochure, is this the case with you"
    Or
You could make a note of this and get it printed, adding at the bottom "On this occasion a leaflet was not delivered to you, but if you want one please contact (your contact details)

That way, you get to keep customers without pi$$ing others off.

If I had a sign and you tried that, it would still pee me off.

Avon, Kleeneze, various people reporting to be from various charities, various energy companies, Safestyle and probably a few others have all ignored signs that expressly state I'm not interested in their services.

And just to add to the annoyance, almost all of these seem to have an aversion to closing the damn gate.

    Dunno then.

I don't think it would !!!! me off, cos the caller would be showing a bit of empathy for the householder, realising that doorstep peddlars are a nuiscance, and she would not actually be peddling at that stage.

With Avon reps, though, they have to get business somehow, especially if they have big expenditure. And, some people actually do like Avon. I used to like it.

Empathy? A cold call is still a cold call. Can't you see that?

Oh I know you have a sign saying No Parking and I know it's a nuisance but but I thought I'd ignore it ....

Have to agree. If I wanted Avon I'd seek out a rep or order online. The sign is there because I dont want you at my door, no exceptions. If I was going to dither on the doorstep deciding whether or not I was interested the sign wouldn't be there.

No cold callers means just that. No exceptions. Its not about empathy its about being left in bloody peace in my own home as requested in large red letters by the door.

What p*sses people off is not the lack of courtesy the cold callers are showing, but the fact they are having to stop what their doing and go out of the way to answer the door. So the fact your asking them if their interested rather than assuming they are is no different.

I feel particularly sorry for the person who posted here with 2 walking sticks having the struggle to the door because cold callers have failed to read the "4" signs.
