Maybe she has a phobia of hats. Like clowns, they're ostensibly supposed to be a children's party thing, but a notable number of children don't like them.
I do like fancifiers, although I've never tried one on. They are fascinating bits of nothing! Lol.0 -
You are another "bundle of fun" aren't you?
I have never seen a wedding where the ladies are not wearing hats - respect to your MIL:D
i guess my friends'/families' weddings haven't been very posh...... i don't think i've ever been given a dress code at all!:happyhear0 -

Truly posh people don't need to be told a dress code, they just know.
I think hats are de riguer for mothers of the bride and groom surely? Never been to a wedding where at least those two women weren't wearing them, and I'm certainly not posh at all! These days most people seem to go for fascinators though. Having something daft on your head at a wedding is traditional!0 -
Fascinators! That's the name! *palmface*0

Bloody hate silly facsinators. I do like a proper tasteful hat, like a cute little pillbox. I asked that people wearing hats took them off during the ceremony. You always get some !!!! in a hat who obscures the view.
I had a see through white dress lady as well, my cousin's gf. Could see her thong through it. I wasn't bothered though, you'd be a pretty shoddy bride to be upstaged by a bit of dental floss on a flibbertygibbet.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

I remember seeing a guest dressed very revealingly. She arrived in a family group. While I think that a Rubenesque figure has a lot to plus points, squeezing it into a two piece outfit a couple of sizes too small does not do it any favours.
I must confess to staring in horrified fascination at the resultant sizeable muffin top overspill, thinking "Don't your family love you? Why didn't they say something?"0 -
do eye brows and lashes count as facial hair ?0

I can't help but think that if you dislike your prospective guests so much, you don't forgo the reception and just get married on your own somewhere."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
