Wow, you have been productive! You even did ironing, thats my most dreaded task and as a result I'm normally pretty creased. Its nice to have the place gleaming when you start a new week. My place is not so shiny, concentrating on clearing clutter first, I surely can't have bought this much stuff, I think its been breeding.
Hope you have a great week at work.

Hi BC hope you're having a good day

I'm one of those sad people who actually likes ironing :eek: If I can set up my table in front of the TV I'll happily iron all day. Actually, if I didn't live in the wilds of Wales, perhaps taking in ironing would've been a good way of making extra pennies. I'm a bit out of the way for potential customers though.
Didn't go to work today, woke up with a thumping migraine this morning, probably due in part to eating too much junk over the weekend and stressing about money all the time.
Felt a bit better this afternoon so I've been having a look around for better deals for my car and home/contents insurance, both due first week in September. If I haven't made any mistakes filling in the quotes, I should be able to save about £60 on my Car Ins and about £90 on my house and contents :T
Tonights tea will be whatever I can rustle up from the store cupboard, probably something with pasta
I need to have a look on the OS board later as we have BF's two sons staying with us for about three weeks starting Friday. Two extra teenagers means lots more food required :rotfl:

have you tried AF (appr0ved foods) for snacks etc. It's out of date stuff (although i've had lots in date from them, i think they must have been end of line stuff) and you save tonnes of money on usual rrp! xMortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. Hi DFW, I've tried AF once, and still working our way through some of the stuff I ordered. Some of the stuff was great, but I made mistakes with a few items and ordered huge catering sized packs of curry sauce and curry powder, but that was my fault for not reading the descriptions properly

This evening we had pasta bake made with fried onions, mushrooms and a tin of pork luncheon meat (from AF). I made the sauce using cheese sauce granules (store cupboard) topped with some leftover Gruyere cheese I had in the fridge and popped it in the oven for a few minutes. It was lovely
I cooked a bit of extra pasta, so tomorrow's lunch is sorted too. I'm having tuna and pasta with tomato and cucumber mixed with salad cream - Yum!
Had a nice surprise earlier, DS1 is coming up to North Wales for a work meeting, so I have him overnight on Wednesday. This isn't meant to sound awful, I think his girlfriend's a lovely girl, but he's still my baby and its nice to have him all to myself sometimes
Just placed an order with MrT online. All in all it came to £54 and should see us though till next payday (hopefully!).Five years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

There's nothing wrong to wanting him to yourself for a change! Even when Bob and I were together I liked visiting my family by myself every now and again. I especially liked him visiting his mother alone as she is rather hard work

I'd love to find any household task relaxing as I hate mess, but I'm just no good at it. I'm a dreadful procrastinator, supposed to be tidying my study right now but I'm on MSE! Going to try and get myself into a routine and out of my negative mindset about it all.
Stress is a bad one for triggering migraines, glad you're feeling brighter. Dinner sounds gorgeous, I love cheesy pasta bake! I'll come to you and you can feed me and do my ironing, shame I nowhere near North Wales.

Hi BC, nothing wrong with procrastination either, I'm a champion at it. If you could win a medal for it, I'd probably get gold or silver. I'm just having a good week this week - it won't last

I don't have much of a routine either and that's something I'm working on too. I've told BF we're not spending anything at all on takeaways this month so I need to get back into the habit of batch cooking and cooking from scratch. Having his boys here will help with that.Five years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

Good evening!
Back to work today, wasn't too busy, but had just enough to do to make time pass reasonably quickly.
Took my lunch in with me, so the day started well, but managed to spend £20.50 in my lunch hour on a pair of garden shears. I'm not going to feel bad about it because I really needed them. Parts of my garden are on a hillside, so I have lots of bits that need trimming, but you just can't get to them with the strimmer (unless you're part of a gymnastics team!). I'm not very good at growing things, but I'm ok at weeding and trimming. I can get a bit carried away with the pruning shears at times though which is probably why my boys wouldn't let me cut their hair after the age of about 5
I sent the faulty bra back to NE*T this morning, which should hopefully mean a credit of £24 back onto my account in a few days. I also posted a few ebay parcels and should have about £100 in paypal ready to transfer to the bank, which means I'll have about £200 in my savings.
My car insurance is due at the beginning of September and I managed to find a quote for £187 yesterday which quite a bit less than I paid last year. My house and contents insurance are also due to be paid in September, but we should have enough reserve in the joint account to cover these.
I really hate living like this, just going from one bill to the next, but if I stick to the plan, next year should be different.
MrT delivery just arrived, and I received everything I ordered, which doesn't happen very often
Tomorrow's list of things to do depends on the weather. If its wet, I'm going to clean out the kitchen cupboards, if its a nice dry day I'm going to do some gardening, well cutting things with my new shears anyway

I've just written a really long post.............and lost it!
Probably not a bad thing, cos it was full of me feeling sorry for myself and having lurked on a few diaries this week, compared to other people, I have nothing to feel sorry about, I'm just having one of those days
So enough of that, I'm glad I lost the post
Haven't done anything I'd planned today. Its been too wet to do the garden and I'm not in a cleaning mood.
I got my 6 month bill from the Water Board this morning and I'm a bit fed up because although they owe me £1.66, they've increased my direct debit by £4.50 per month - the cheek of it! I know bills have gone up across the board, but its really annoying. I've been on a pay freeze for 3 years now, but everything else just keeps going up
Took 7 parcels to the PO and managed to come back home without buying anything else, so today will be classed as a NSD (so far!).
I'm hungry, haven't had lunch yet, so I'll probably be back with another update later xFive years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

Cheered up a bit now

Just had a lovely tea with DS1, just him and me tonight
We had the four bird roast from A**i with home made potato wedges, it was really tasty. I'd forgotten how much he can eat, so we had just enough left over to make two packed lunches, one for him and one for me. Its nice to be able to do these little things for him, I really miss him, although I see him more now as he has to travel a lot with his job. I'll change the subject now before I start blubbing, I have tears in my eyes!!
Believe it or not I found a few more things to ebay. This is REALLY it now. No bids yet, but plenty of watchers so keeping my fingers crossed.
Back to work tomorrow, then working for 5 days till my next day off. BF's two younger boys arrive tomorrow for 16 days, but I've a feeling they won't want to go home till the end of the summer holls. I don't think they're getting on with their mum at the moment.
Being a step-parent isn't easy no matter what anyone tells you! BF has 3 lovely sons and I get on really well with them, but you don't relax the same when its someone else's kids. I just feel a bit overwhelmed at times eg. if my boys were noisy I'd just tell them to quieten down, but I don't like telling BF's boys to be quiet cos I want them to feel welcome here any time. I suppose if they lived here with us it'd be different because we'd have to set some ground rules. I don't mean to sound like an old grump, I've told BF his boys can live with us if they want to, its just a bit daunting.
Today was a NSD :j and aiming for another one tomorrow.
My brother invited us for a curry next week, but as much as I'd love to go, I just can't afford it, so I had to say no.

Morning

Felt a bit down yesterday so didn't feel like posting, was never far from tears all day, which made for a difficult day as my job involves a lot of contact with the public.
Nonetheless, yesterday was a NSD and I'm hoping today will be the same. August payday will be 3 weeks today and I have £30 available for any extra spends until then. Technically, I shouldn't NEED to buy anything, but I'm sure I'll have a chocolate craving before then
I've made my lunch (today is ham and tomato sarnies) and am taking a book to work to read in my lunch hour, so I shouldn't be tempted to buy any magazines (my downfall!).
Better get moving, hope everyone has a good MSE day xFive years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID
