I just wanted to say hi and happy shiny new diary

In answer to your question re savings accounts
you can have as many as you like
i have 3. one for birthdays and Christmas, one for Car fund (MOT, repairs etc) and one as emergency fund (appliance breakdown etc)
i also have two bank account. A main account where our salaries get paid into and all bills are paid from
and a spending account where our fuel, food and kids hobbies money is kept.
that way i know that as long as the main account doesn't get used then there is plenty in there to cover bills.0 -
I'm back with my tail between my legs and in an even bigger mess than before

I'll post my up to date figures at the end of my post, but first I should probably record what I've been doing for the past few weeks since my last post.
I've been turned down for a BHS store card, refused a tesco loan and had both my credit cards declined for being over my limits. I've had a HUGE wobbler and felt really down for a couple of weeks, but you know what..............once I calmed down, I feel quite relieved in a funny way, because this is it now, I can't get any more credit even if I wanted to, so from now on, the only way is UP
I feel physically sick when I think of all the money I've wasted, but I haven't hurt anyone except myself, so I'm going to stop beating myself up about it before I drive myself mad!
You could say I've had a huge wake-up call
So, here's the plan - in 5 years or 60 months I intend to:-
1. Be debt free apart from my mortgage
2. Have saved enough to get my garden landscaped and made secure.
3. Buy an Old English Sheepdog puppy (something I've always wanted - hence the secure garden!)
I can't put it off any longer so here are the totals:-
1. NEXT - £220
2. Debenhams - £350
3. Halifax CC - £3,041.41
4. Nationwide - £2,755.24
5. Car Loan - 56 payments to go
Would like to see NEXT and a huge chunk of the Debenhams debt gone by Christmas.
I have the weekend off this week and BF has gone off for the weekend, so I've given myself a list of things to do while I have the chance.
1. Do some gardening.
2. Clean the car.
3. Do all my washing.
4. Do the ironing.
5. Get all my paperwork in order.
6. Shop around for cheaper house and car insurance.
7. List some bits on ebay.
8. Give the house a good clean.
Never been on my own overnight in this house till tonight - not sure I like it, its too quiet

Oh SundayGirl, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I've been there and it is absolutely horrible. But you're right about the positives, when you can no longer increase your credit there is only one way the balance can go and that is down!
My debt at highest was around £24,000, it wasn't until I could no longer get new credit that it started to get paid off. It was a real face up to it moment for me. But light at the end of the tunnel the final debt will soon be all gone and my final default will drop off my file in a few months ready for a real fresh start.
I got very maudlin and upset last night too, thinking about the money wasted, how I could have been debt free. But the past is done and it can't be changed, lets use this as an impetus to getting rid and living a good life.
I've subscribed to your diary and can't wait to see you get on and clear the debt!
xxTotal Debt 21st October 2012: £11737.03, Total Paid: £0Consists of real debt: £5737.03 and preventing future debt fund: £6000.
PFD is to let me have a shot at my dreams when I graduate without digging myself back into a money black hole.0 -
Hi BlueCrayon, thanks for saying hi and for subscribing. Its really easy to get maudlin isn't it, once you start thinking about all the money wasted.
I woke up really late this morning, feel very lazy now!
I started watching the Olympic opening ceremony (after saying I wouldn't) then couldn't switch off before seeing who would light the cauldron. I've been puzzling all week trying to guess who'd get the honour, and think getting the young athletes to do it was a brilliant idea.
I loved the bit with the Queen and James Bond, she's a good sport - I was convinced it'd be a lookalike till she turned around :T
I'm going to work on my list of things to do today. I've already got one load in the washing machine, just waiting to see if the weather can make its mind up what its going to do. I'll put the washing out, then set up the ironing board in front of the tv.
I bought a bra from Next Directory last week and the strap broke after one wear, so will send that back on Monday for a refund, which means £24 off the bill
I'd better get moving or I'll be sat here all day xFive years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

Phew!! Ironing almost done, just have one set of bedding and a few tops to go. Just had a cream slice and a cup of tea. Not good for my waistline I know, but really nice
:o
I know I called my diary "Nothing left to ebay!!", but the more I look the more stuff I find! It just makes me think WHY??? Why on earth did I think I needed this stuff? I wish I could say that I went mad after the divorce, but I've been a silly spender for years
I spent what little savings I had last weekend, when I went down to DS1's graduation. He got his Master's and I wanted him to have a day to remember. I was 18 and just about to go off to Uni myself when I found out I was pregnant with him. I can't tell you how proud I was seeing him up on that stage. His father decided not to attend, but as this is a debt busting diary not an "ex" bashing diary I'll say no more on that subject :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The weather decided to be rainy today, so the laundry's drying on the clothes horse, glad I did the garden yesterday :T
Ok, teabreak over, next job is to finish the ironing, put it all away (hate that job), photograph a few things ready to ebay and maybe list a few while I'm at it.Five years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

Hey
Just had a quick read while having a cheeky brew before work. I started a diary a couple of weeks back and finding it really helpful. Good Luck with your debt. Will be checking back soon. ( as I am now addicted to this site)

Hi Hannah, nice to see you!
All the ironing done and put away. It'll make a nice change not to have to iron my work clothes in the morning before I leave.
Found a few more things to ebay, but this lot really is the last of it. Once these sell thats it.
I listed a few, but I'm feeling slightly ebayed out so I figured out how to watch a DVD on BF's xbox - now I'm watching SATC2, wearing my snuggle blanket (its cold and I don't want to switch the heating on), eating Pringles and drinking beer...........what more could I wish for
Things to do tomorrow:-
1. Ebay the remaining items.
2. Give the house a really good clean.
3. Clean the windows if its sunny.
4. Go and see parents.
5. Clean the car.
I'm sure I had a signature but it seems to have disappeared. I'll work on a new one tomorrow xFive years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID

It is very easy in the first blaze of the light bulb moment, to plow on and try and e everything done now. Then when this fades it is easy to get down hearted and give up. So first off well done for not giving up and coming back to have another go.
Secondly when you did the SOA it seemed to reckon you had money left over every month. But you commented on how you didn't have this. So can I suggest the spending diary for the next month, to note down all those little spends! They really do add up. I remember one poster on here who did this realised she was spending 100 pounds on coffee a month. What an eye opener that was.
Well done to DS1 on getting his masters that is ace of him. I hope he is able to find a job in this market. Good luck to him. Bah to ex for not attending, it gets remembered believe me.
Hopefully you can now start moving ahead with the debt busting. One thing. When was the BF contribution to household bills set? Have bills gone up this year, but not his share? Might be worth doing a bills review to check that his share shouldn't be upped a bit.
good luck with your journey
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Back at last, been cleaning like a mad thing today, but the place is gleaming

Hi Chevalier thanks for saying hi! You're right about the SOA, it just doesn't add up. I need to take another look at it because there is definitely not that amount of surplus left at the end of the month. I've already started keeping a spending diary and so far since the 24th have had 3 NSD and the spends recorded are all essentials. I haven't bought a coffee or a magazine since before payday and so far have taken my own lunch to work every day. I know its only the 29th today, but I'm determined to make it to the end of the month without paying for lunch
I've done most of the things on my list for the weekend:-
1. Done the washing and ironing.
2. Done the garden.
3. Cleaned windows inside and out.
4. Washed car and cleaned inside.
5. Gave the house a really good clean.
6. Listed a few bits on ebay, but still have a few to go.
Really tired now though. Got some really odd looks from people this morning, you'd think they'd never seen someone clean their own windows before
BF came back tired but happy, I think he must have had a good weekend
Its back to work for me tomorrow, funny how days off always pass so quickly.
I hope everyone else had a good weekend xFive years/60 months to sort myself out - Month 2/608.33% PAID
