  • Hope everyone had a good day today, I'm in a good mood tonight, just had two of my three boys here on a flying visit.

DS1 and his girlfriend have just moved into their own flat and he looked so happy. I wish them all the luck in the world. :D

He did however manage to make me part with a £10 sponsorship, as he's taking part in a sponsored run on Sunday, but its for a good cause and I used my paypal to pay for it. I could do with some good karma :D

I have two days off now, so I'm sitting here with a bottle of wine and some onion rings. Not very healthy, but just what I felt like tonight! The wine was a gift and didn't cost me a penny, BF bought the onion rings. :D

Will probably have to visit Al*i on Thursday to top up the storecupboard, but so far we're well within our £200 budget for food this month. :T

    Things to do tomorrow:-

    1. Do the washing and hopefully hang them outside.
    2. Iron whatever needs ironing.
    3. Clean the windows if the weather's nice.
    4. Make a nice lunch for DS1 and myself. He won't have long because he has to go back down to South Wales tomorrow afternoon.
    5. Go to see the parents after DS1 goes home.
    6. See if I can find anything else to eb*y. Dont think I have anything left really!
    7. Try and win the lottery :j:j

I'm off to have a lurk now. Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow x

  • I hope everyone had a good day today.

Its been a funny old day here. I was full of good intentions last night, with a list of things I was going to do today, but I haven't done much. I've been in a funny mood all day.......plenty of things to do, but couldn't really be bothered to do any of them :(

I think I'm having a "mid-month slump", next payday feels far away but the debts are going down far too slowly :(

Just ignore me, I'm feeling sorry for myself, my motivation needs a big kick up the b*m :(

Don't worry....Indiana Jones always manages to cheer me up........and the Last Crusade film is just about to start :

I did manage to drag myself off the couch long enough this morning to hang out the laundry and "forage" some more blackberries from the field :)

These are now soaking happily in salted water and will join the others in the freezer tomorrow morning, ready for my jam making session whenever that may be.

One good thing about being a lazy bones, is you don't spend any money, which makes today another NSD. I'm also off tomorrow so will have to go down to Al*i for a top up shop. Before I go I need to do a freezer/storecupboard stockckeck and work out a mealplanner for the next two weeks till payday.

Right, I'm off to catch up on some of the other diaries, hopefully I'll be in a better frame of mind tomorrow :(

  • Morning :D

Just back from the doctors this morning, it seems I'm asthmatic now, so I came from there with a prescription for an inhaler. I've also got high blood pressure, so he wants me to go back to see the nurse next week to have it checked again. Apparently lots of people get high BP when going to see the doctor.........I hope so anyway!

We're off shopping to Al*iin a little while but at the moment I'm stuck indoors waiting for someone to come and pick up an item I sold the other day (£100 :j). As soon as they've been we'll head off.

I'm a bit fed up with E*bay customers this morning. I've had to cancel a sale for the second time on the same item because silly people don't read the description and bid on pick up only items, when they live miles away :mad::mad:

I'll be back later for another waffle after I've been shopping, hopefully to report loads of bargains :D

  • Hi Sunday girl

Your struggles so reflect mine and it is inspirational to read about someone who also lacks motivation from time to time! :D As soon as I have finished this I am going to:
Write all my debts out - especially with your idea of % paid off - that will help to motivate me
    Go and do some weeding
Walk to the garden centre (I am trying to loose weight as well :-) and buy the bargain plants to cheer up entrance to home.

Can you please update your % ages on your signature so we can all see from the start of your new diary in August how far you ve got? You seem to be doing really well - I ll be back to check out how its going. I'm a newbee so I need to work out how to do a signature now :-)Thanks

  • Hi Lynplatinum thanks for saying hello :D

I still feel like a newbie too compared to some people on here.

I never fail to find inspiration on these boards, some people have managed to clear huge amounts of debt AND have some sort of life while they're at it. Its really hard to find that balance, I haven't quite got the knack yet :D

We went to Ald* this afternoon and spent about £50 which should keep us going till the 24th, then, when we came home I had a huge "cookathon". I've made enough spaghetti bolognese and shepherds pie to feed a small army. My freezer's not very big so its now packed full of ready meals, with no room for anything else!

I injured myself in the process, grated half my thumb while making the cottage pie. That'll teach me to try and do two things at the same time :o

DS2 came over for dinner tonight. We had roast breast of lamb (free as it was given to me by my dad because mum refused to eat it), roasties, new potatoes, carrots and swede. Yummy and we have leftover carrots and swede for tomorrow!

Back to work tomorrow, then its five days work and then TEN days off..........can't wait :T

  • Back again!

Didn't really have a NSD today, I bought a small piece of furniture on ebay the other night and have just been to pick it up. Spent £25 on it, but I hope to give it a make over and turn it into a lovely little piece of shabby chic furniture. I've never done anything like it before so, wish me luck. I'm not very artistic so this is going to be a challenging project, but as I can't afford to buy ready made shabby chic bits and bobs, I thought I'd have a go at upcycling my own :D

If I ever manage to learn how to upload photos on here, I'll post some before and after photos when I've finished.

Other than that, I didn't spend anything else, so its not been too bad a day. Work was pretty quiet today, but the weather was glorious so tomorrow should pick up a bit (hopefully).

Nothing much else to report, can't wait till the 24th so I can pay some more off those bills and see the totals come down.

Hope everyone else had a good day x

  • I'm not doing so well on the money saving front this week, nothing serious, just bought a few bits that I shouldn't have bought. :o

I'm also fed up with the ex. The boys need clothes for college/uni and he's refusing to cough up any money to help pay for the stuff they need. I'm not meaning to sound like a whinger, but I'm so tired of all this, no wonder I have high blood pressure, it seems like some things will never ever change. I've offered to go half and half but he's having none of it!

I'm taking DS2 shopping on Thursday and DS3 at the weekend, so any savings I had put away for Christmas will be spent on kitting them out for the new term. I'm just so angry, but he knows I won't let the boys go to college looking scruffy, so he's still manipulating they way I have to live, even though it took me years to break away from him :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I'm sorry about ranting, I had to get that out, I don't want BF to get fed up of me moaning about the ex all the time. I feel better now :o

I managed to collect some more blackberries this evening. I'm building up quite a stash. I think I probably have enough to make some jam now, but I'll keep picking them while they last.

I'm off work for 10 days from today, so I'm hoping to get a lot of things done. I'll compile a list tomorrow and hopefully have a productive week. I used some of my paypal funds to buy a sander for my little table (only a cheap one). This is going to be my pet project so I can't wait to get started :j

I hope everyone else is having a good week and I promise to try harded to have a NSD tomorrow x

  • Your much better off without the ex, how nice of him to put differences aside for the sake of the children.

Hope you're enjoying your break, I'd love to see a picture of your project when its done. I've lots of projects I want to do but no time at the moment!

  • Good evening! Hi BC lovely to see you :j

I'm enjoying my time off, but not doing so well on the money saving. Had a lovely day out with the boys on Thursday, but almost completely spent up now till payday which is on the 24th :o

    I'm absolutely hopeless!!!

Been home alone all day today, BF on a trip with his mates till later on tonight. Its too quiet here when he's not about :rotfl:

If its not too late by the time he gets home, I'm going to see if I can get him to a carboot tomorrow, but we'll have to leave about 6.00am if we decide to go so I'm hoping he won't be too late tonight.

I think I might have got the shabby chic "bug". I've sanded down my little table, just waiting for the paint to arrive now. It should be here on Monday or Tuesday.

BC - I'll try and post a before/after photo when I've finished, but someone will have to tell me how to do it, cos I've never tried.

I've been lurking on the "shabby chic" thread a lot this week and read my way through about 150 pages. Haven't been brave enough to post yet though. I can see how "upcycling" can become addictive.

At the carboot I'm hoping to get a kitchen roll holder that I can paint or maybe a set of shelves for my kitchen or an old mirror. My kitchen has already been sort of "upcycled". The kitchen units are all old dark wooden units I painted with pale blue F*rrow & B*ll (bought pre LBM). They look quite good actually even though I say so myself and much much cheaper than a new kitchen :T

I felt really brave this morning! When I was cleaning, I moved the magazine rack and this little black creature scuttled out and under my beanbag. I trapped it in an old jamjar, then Googled images of cockroaches, which thankfully it wasn't. It was a huge black beetle that must've sneaked in somehow, so I took it outside and sent it on its way. For someone who hates anything small and crawly this was an achievement :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm off to make some tea now. My BP was still high on Thursday so I'm trying to eat healthily to see if losing some weight makes any difference. I'm having WW lasagne and salad.

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

  • Just remembered, I'm also looking for a nice old picture frame tomorrow. My mum gave me a little oil painting my grandfather made of some flowers. That would look fab on top of the table when I've finished (hopefully!) :D
