Prices go up by 25% people look for alternatives. I am sure I am not alone on this.
Likely effect of a feedback loop of less post getting sent, more price rises etc.
Only way out I see is to privatise it, and get the unskilled labour down to minimum wage, or somewhere close. I'm afraid the days of jobs for life, pensions schemes etc are gone for manual labour.
and now you see the big picture0 -
i have instructed my company to NEVER use the postal service. Everything can be emailed, faxed or scanned. There is no need to use this dismal overpriced service so a load of lazy postal workers can retire on huge pensions. Anyone who carries on using it deserves to be ripped off. Junk mail is all it is good for these days.0

thinking? well the thinking that charges more for "timed delivery".
RM can give you early deliveries if you want to pay for them.
again, folks need to accept things change.
RM used to prioritise business deliveries, however now routes are planned to get as much done with as little staff as possible.
you are another one who is stuck in the past.
in what world do you see 12 as being 'last'?0 -

yes, at 3k a year I can see that really being popular with small businesses.
From a customer point of view RM is in a downwards spiral with regard to service & prices. Your view seems to be it's the customers fault. Which is fair enough, and quite typical of public sector thinking.
I just think this will hasten the end of the PO as we know it. Can't say I'll miss it that much.0 -
Why has the franking ink for work literally gone up £8.50 per cart!??!

you seem to be mistaking reality with a skewed view
its costs X to provide a mail service
RM have been hankered by DSA and the universal service
this has been ongoing for years
before that it had no investment while times were good
hence the pension holiday while it was making massive profits.
you said offering services below cost was stupid. except that exactly what RM is required to do with the USO and DSA
you feel that it should do this and offer priority early deliveries to your business
that requires more staffing and doesnt fit in with the new delivery designs0 -

Yes, very efficient having up to five different RM workers (each with their own van) delivering to my offices some days. They've completely lost the plot.
I wouldn't actually mind late deliveries if they were consistent, but it's the scatter gun approach that causes problems for small businesses. Sometimes my normal mail arrives around 10am, other days 3pm, more often than not around lunchtime, sometimes they don't deliver it at all. That's the problem. It must be absolute chaos at the sorting office - doesn't seem to be any structure anymore.hence the pension holiday while it was making massive profits.
A lot of businesses were prevented by law from continuing to make payments into their pension funds if the actuarial reports showed them to be grossly over-funded. Not necessarily the fault of the people running it at that time.0 -

.
which is all a result of slash & burn cost cutting
not so long ago all staff were full time
all were assigned set duties with 'firms' duties
now you have part time workers, not enough staff and duties covered ad hoc day to day0 -
