CP Plus parking charge

Come on, admit it. You're going to miss them when they go, aren't you?0

I am a delivery driver and received a ticket from CP Plus at a Glasgow hospital for not parking in a designated parking space. As I deliver to stores I never use the hospitals car parks so never see any parking signs or regulations. I was taking a break on a small road at the rear of the hospital and not causing an obstruction, there were no road markings indicating parking was not permitted and yet two goons crept up behind me in a golf buggy and handed me a ticket. Following other posts on this site I will not be paying any charges but I have one simple question - why did they not simply ask me to move? After all their web site states "Encouragement and positive prevention is how we like to promote enforcement issues. Identifying those who constantly re-offend, not punishing those who don’t."0

I'm afraid you have totally misunderstood what the purpose of a private parking company is. You seem to think it's about car park management. Nothing could be further from the truth.
It is all about making lots of lovely money!
Asking you to move does not achieve that purpose.
Though fortunately, as you have found this forum, this is one ticket that WON'T be making them any money.
Cannot believe you thought what they put on their web site was true... or are you tongue-in-cheek?0 -

Because they lie - they even pretend that their business is about 'parking management' (LOL!!!) when it's all about farming car reg numbers for money.
If they'd asked you to move they would have not been able to issue a fake PCN. What they didn't know is that you weren't daft enough to pay it! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes, I think they put that garbage on the website to dupe the establishments mug enough to hire them.
That way when the retailers' customers start disappearing, they can say, "not our fault, we only ticket persistent offenders".0 -

Effective car park management requires quick thinking, the ability to work within a Team, as well as leadership skills, and personel skills in dealing with both other people in your team, and assisting the public.
inefctive car park management involves slapping a ticket on a car with some outlandish fee attached to it.
If your doing it right then people will park where they are supposed to, and if they dont a polite word will often help them to move.
If you put a ticket on a car, it isnt going to sudenly stop blocking an entrance/exit, and you will only end up upseting the motorists.
These PPC people who walk up and down with the sole intention of issuing tickets as a revenue making scheme only end up causing people like me, who often run/manage car parks at big events ( anda few smaller ones) agro as the motorists can sometimes get confused between us, PPC people out to generate revenu through punative tickets/letters, and the council employed bods. From the Plain Language Commission:

Hi All
New to this Forum and have had a notice from CP Plus today, also had ones from Parking eye and euro car parks in the last few weeks for our company vehicles. Obviously will not pay them after reading various forums. My concern though is that all our company cars are contract hire vehicles, therefore the registered keeper is the fleet company not us, BUT the letter is addressed to us. The contract hire company have not seen the letters so where are they getting our address from? any ideas.0 -
Not written on them, is it? There must have been some means of identifying them as yours and it would be just like them to save the DVLA fee.0

You mean that your company is the 'registered keeper'? And the lease hire company is the owner?
The PPCs will have got whatever detail is lodged with the DVLA by paying £2.50 for the privilege. You could send an email to the DVLA and ask why your details are being released when your company is neither the owner of those vehicles nor (obviously) the 'driver' - ask what information is stored and who obtained the data and when. I THINK the DVLA do issue the keeper's details so in your case this seems the correct data to me but no harm in following it up with the DVLA to complain about the data release.
Either way ignore the PPC and the debt collector letters that follow. Have fun and stick them up on your Fleet Noticeboard for everyone to have a laugh and learn about this scam.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi guys 'n gals, thanks once again for you help & support with my original post. Just a quick update . . . . I know the general advice is not to correcpond with them at all, but a couple of people had said that while the charges they issue are grossly excessive, it could be argued that the driver is liable for any unpaid parking fees, in my case with Roadchef it was £10 for anything over the first 2 free hours. So, have posted a letter to them this morning, without a stamp of course, offering to rimburse their clients for their actual loss (£10) but without admitting liablility in any way. At least doing this I feel that should it go to court (unlikely, I know) I would be in a better position. Anyway, will keep you posted. . . . :-)0
