  • Make sure your mail is dealt with. Returned mail shows them that if they take you to court, you won't get the court papers and won't show up in court, so they can win the case by default. Unfortunately, the legal system doesn't have draws. They may not come after you for the money, but they can claim this as a court case victory.

The mail won't be returned, but it will just stay at my house, but with all due respect if I'm out of the country I can't very well come back to attend a court date for a parking ticket.

And by all accounts, these people won't even get as far as a court date.

The point is, they might have a wild punt if they get wind that you are away. As long as they don't then yes, they are extremely (0%) unlikely to try court.

Warn those at the house that if they get an envelope with return address a county court (It's usually Northampton) then it will need to be dealt with.

But the chances of it are absolutely minimal.

I've just had my first letter for CP Plus Charge Notice for spending 3 and a half hours at Morrison's - well it's my partner because I'm disabled but the car is in my name!

It's for £70.00 going up to £90.00 after 14 days. I was absolutely gobsmacked!:(

I am going to ignore it after extensive research on this one and all the other sites saying do the same thing. I haven't replied, yet, to this first one. Is that right?:j

    I hope somebody can help!

I've been waiting to try this ...

There is no point in appealing, They always reject them. What's in it for them, letting people off.

If you don't respond, they'll have to pay the DVLA £2.50 for your details, but that's another part of this national scandal.

Mind you, anyone who spends 3 1/2 hours in Morrison's deserves to be "sectioned". :)
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

The other point is if you weren't the driver then there is no way you could be responsible in any case. And though they ask you to name the driver there is absolutely no obligation on you to do so. So don't. Just ignore them and they will go away when they realise they haven't hooked a mug.

Yes indeedy. Old-ish 2010 link here talks about the DDA but it is now the Equality Act 2010 that protects you:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8488737.stm

It's unlawful to harass a disabled person in this way for taking longer to shop when parked in a restricted car park. You could sue for compensation if you were there that day - if you are up for suing then please post again here.

You'd be suing the supermarket and the PPC jointly and I expect they'd settle out of court for maybe 4 figures. Not joking!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
