Lone_Ranger wrote: »I am still at a complete loss as to what you mean! please enlighten meMy very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Go back and read post #58. Manxred couldn't quite recall the solicitors involved (called Flint Bishop) and described them as Bishop's Finger - that's how the reference first arose.
Bloody hell, talk about delaid reaction, :rotfl:that was ages ago. These days I can only just remember what I did yesterday.but thank you for your reply PieFace, at least I know what you're on about now and thank goodness nobody mentioned "Black Sheep"

I've waited much longer than that for laughs before.

Where are all the Flint Bishop cases we were promised?
PS. And please don't call them Stinking Bishop either.

Hi please keep this thread updated as I also got a ticket at peel centre in stockport, Went into toys r us to get change for the machine came out and there was a ticket on the window so I asked one of the wardens why he put it on as I was getting change and he said we allow 10mins to get change and by his watch it was 11mins, he said that I can appeal against it and for me to goto the cabin to get an appeal form so in reply I said well ive not broken any laws and that its just a money making thing to which his reply was "yes it is". It says on the form if I pay before 14 days its £60 and if after 14 days it goes upto £100.
What should I do? :mad:0 -
unimatrix1, you should really start your own thread to ensure your query is not lost.
However, in the meantime, ignore the ticket and do not bother to appeal as they will simply reject it.
There are lots of reasons to ignore, many of them in this current thread, but in summary, this is an unenforceable speculative invoice that has no basis in English Law.
Only time not to ignore is if you receive genuine court papers (very unlikely) or the ticket is from the Council.0 -

I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see the outcome of the OP, How come if it has no basis in English Law then they can still issue tickets?0 -
Because its not illegal to issue invoices claiming someone owes you money.
These companies thrive on people's ignorance of the law, which leads to the startling reality that people will simply pay up, oblivious to the fact that legally speaking they don't actually owe the company in question any money.
Its a wonderful business plan.
The problems only begin if they decide to overstep the mark in their subsequent threatening letters, if they mis-state the true legal position of the recipient, and if they themselves rather foolishly decide to take legal action. Most don't, out of 1.8M tickets issued in 2011, only 845 claims were brought, and the PPCs managed to win just 25, a few of those may have been default wins, or they got lucky with a district judge having an off day.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
