  • In post 4 you name a particular care provider. If this is your employer, I would edit it out immediately. You can be disciplined for discussing employers online if they find out - and MSE has a huge number of members, plus many others who read but do not post.

They may well notice - they may have computerised systems that will bring your fie to their attention however they'll just go with whatever your manager says normally whatever that may be.

so what it says online about the whole dismissal if not passed thing is just their for the sake of having to be their as a policy? My manager says it is up to her to keep me and not HR. But the HR say probation has to be passed etc. i was tired until i read that document now im too stressed to sleep or eat.

As above HR dont watch everyone everyday, if you are worried why not email your boss reminding her once last time that your assesment is due, that way if you are questioned about it you can go hey hang on, look ive asked.
Anyway it must be your managers responsability to ensure it gets done in time not yours so she should be the one to take any rap.

I don't email I can talk to her face to face she prefers that she told me she will definatly get it done. Which I beleive her but I am scared in 18 days HR will come up and go ballistic.

Ok but it will be too late now google catch's it instantly.

Erm no, typically google will scrape a site every 10 minutes or so. You're making assumptions and thats unhealthy.
So do HR departments watch u or not? I would hate to be sacked.

Why don't you re-read the above and stop asking this repeatedly. I have told you all I can tell you. You either accept it and move on or continue repeating the question pointlessly.
I would rather just ride it out for a year tbf and forget their was a probation coz after a year its too late

So why are you here asking? - You're the one saying you can't sleep and now you're saying you'd rather forget it? :cuckoo:

If it's any help at all, part of my role is to mentor people through induction and probation, and we have the 6 month timescale as well.

However as I only have the one pair of hands and a lot of staff are part time, it's not unusual for the probation to not be signed off on the dot. All HR do is send me a letter reminding me that the probation is due to be signed off, which does get done at some point. The only time I would formally extend a probation and involve HR was if there were concerns over someones performance or conduct, or if they were fannying around and not getting the work done that they need to do in a timely manner. Which again would be a performance management issue. Otherwise, a few weeks over is neither here nor there, and HR let me get on with it.
Stop panicking, if you're getting on with what you need to do and your manager hasn't raised any concerns with you, then there's nothing to worry about.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

HR isn't a person - it's a department. 'IT' doesn't have emotions or feelings. It has policies and guidance which the staff follow - as mentioned previously this usually involves doing whatever your manager tells them to do with you.

Are you taking any notice of things we're telling you?

This may not help, but I'll say it anyway. You can be dismissed for any reason (discrimination and a few others excepting) in your first year of employment, so probation is a red herring.

Of course HR don't watch you every day. What they will have are records which highlight anomalies such as sickness, disciplinaries and yes - probably extended probation periods. Usually, if one is extended, they'll ask your manager why. They'll get a good enough answer and say 'fine'. But HR is there to support managers, not take the decisions from them (when run properly!). You don't need to be signed off on that exact day. You really are panicking unnecessarily; take a more measured approach.

But ultimately Big Brother is not watching you, and getting through probation doesn't give you any protection with regards to job security until your 12 months are up anyway. :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

and do your HR policy and guidlines state dismissal is possible if not signed off? Have u ever had a member of staff either

    1) Sacked on the grounds of not doing it in time or

    2) Got over the year (where u can no longer be dismissed) without it being done

The reason I say email her is then you have a record, talking to her face to face wont give you that.

Anyway I agree with the general answers you are getting, you will be fine. Chill a bit :)
