Quote a few of the jobs you know of that are available that would suit your average unskilled worker.
Should be simple eh.
A flock of sheep beat me to it.
point is the "the are no jobs" mentality is not going to get anyone a job/extra hours. There are options if people look.
I've worked on a breakfast van, a chip shop and now im a receptionist. i called in every shop near me. i asked everywhere and i got jobs. Being unskilled does no equal being unable to earn money. Any job is a job. Its being a willing to work regardles of what you do.Faced up to my debt Jan 2012.0 -
You've been given loads of examples on this thread. Baza. Also I've just been into town today. As a friend newly moved into the area wanted a cleaning/housekeeping/bar job to tide here over until she could get a nursery placement. She walked into a job as there were TWO places with signs up before we even got into the main drag.0

Why not just say she does Avon for 8 hours a week but earns nothing.
Do you think running errands for old people will pay the minimum wage. lol
Well you can so easily make up the eight hours self employed and like I said before self employed are exempt from the minimum wage. And if you are working and paying class one national insurance you are exempt from paying class two for additional self employed work if you earn under a certain amount self employed.0 -

Really, I thought they were cracking down on the self employed that earned nothing on paper but claim full WTC0 -

Any job is a job i completely agree.
Where i live the majority of unskilled jobs have been taken by people from other parts of the world.
Before you shoot me down in flames its a fact.
It just annoys me to hear people that have jobs harp on about how easy it is to get one.
Im skilled in my profession and NOT looking for work but i have enough friends that are looking for work and unable to find anything.
If you want to help the OP why not link to the jobs you know of and she can apply if she wants to.
Otherwise it just sounds like your spouting off without being in possesion of the facts.0 -

I would take some advice and check the hmrc to fully confirm but you can work employed and self employed and you can currently get tax credits when you are employed and self employed. Look up about class two national insurance exemption for self employed people too. The exemption amount increases each year like tax allowances do. Remember also you can claim your expenses against tax for your self employment too such as some of your electric, postage, stationery, computer equip.
Remember also that you don't need to do just one thing self employed you can do several to make up the hours. So kmt services could do ironing at home, crocheting and growing plant to sell at the gate.0 -
