You will lose working tax credits, not child tax credits. Childcare is paid for on child tax credits so you'd still get it.

You will not be better off on income support. Your partner wouldn't qualify for benefits due to being on a full time course.

    This is incorrect.

Childcare is part of Working Tax Credit, but is paid normally with child tax credit.

The OP will not be entitled to help with childcare costs if she isn't entitled to WTC.

However, she must not be claiming help with childcare costs anyway because if you are part of a couple you must be both working at least 16 hours a week normally.

Also, you should get a full benefits check as the loss of WTC might be made up by IS/IBJSA/Housing Benefit/Council Tax benefit and other benefits so you won't lose nearly as much as you think.

Instantly when i read your OP i thought you meant you was losing the childcare element thus why you wanted to leave your job.... but actually you state you dont get the childcare part of WTC anyway so you probably wont lose as much as you think - some careful budgeting and it CAN be done

On the DFW board there is a SOA (statement of affairs) - fill that in, post it, and people will do their best to help you minimise your spends/bills

But i REALLY wouldnt leave a job to go on income support - As others mention, you might not be entitled to it in the first place

As IQ mmentioned - your loss of WTC MAY be made up other ways - HB, Council tax benefit etc. You really need to look into every avenue before giving up your job.... Once you have given it up, there may be no going back as such

im leaving my job as we're unable to fin another 8 hours to make up for working tax credits i will check the SOA see if i can get more help. i have no choice but to leave my job as my payments have already stopped and im losing all of my working tax credits each week an we cant afford to live without it. im not looking forward to claiming benefits but i dont think i have a choice

Won't voluntarily leaving your job, exempt you from claiming some benefits?

I don't understand what it is you want? People are trying to give you options, as you asked for help. But you seem hell bent on not listening, giving up your job and claiming what you can. When this isn't your only and necessarily best option.

As you lose working tax credits you will be entitled to more Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. This will account for 85% of your loss. So your loss of a small amount of working tax credits will mostly be recovered through HB and CTB increasing.
