I got that after
Have a look on: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/benefits-check
Check you are getting everything you are entitled to - Fill the form in as you are now - without the WTC
Then fill in an SOA - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html
If you post it on the Debt board (whether you have debts or not) they are fantastic at helping reduce the costs
Hope that helps0 -

I don't understand what it is you want? People are trying to give you options, as you asked for help. But you seem hell bent on not listening, giving up your job and claiming what you can. When this isn't your only and necessarily best option.
ive listened to all the options given and ive tried them all ive tried working over time which isnt available, ive tried finding extra work, what other options are left for me? im very thankful for all the help all i asked was what money would i be entitled to before i hand in my notice as im already worse off by losing my working tax credit.0 -
he's full time which includes monday 9-5 weds 9-2 thurs 9-5 fri 10-2 the days he has off are the days i work,
If these are the times he's studying then there are loads of free hours to get another job. Bar work for one. A Saturday job, Sunday job. If you work sat and Sunday then you'll both have every evening in the week to find a job. Looks very flexible to me.
It seems you have many options but don't want to see it?
Not having a go, just I can't see how you both don't have time to fit in another job. Many families struggle but still manage to work and would love the 'free' time you have to fit in a job without having to put their children into childcare.Faced up to my debt Jan 2012.0 -

Exactly so you have already decided what you want to do. Give up your job and see what you can claim. People are trying to tell you that actually you could still work and would probably be better off doing so with hb, etc.
Also that those hours, it must be quite easy to find a bar job, cleaning job for one of you to go over. But you don't seem to want to hear it?0 -

There are lots of benefits you can get while in work, eg housing benefit, council tax benefit, free school meals, your partner could get income based JSA.
There's a lot of disingenous propaganda about people being better off on the dole. It's possible, but unlikely. If you post details about your circumstances we might be able to help. Eg income, do you rent or own your house etc.0 -

You can't claim income support as that is for single parents with children under a certain age, carers etc -people who aren't as able to work.
You'd need to claim jsa instead. There is a condition attached to that that means if you quit your job then your claim can't start paying for,I think it is,6 weeks.(that used to be the case anyway). It also means you will have to continue looking for work.Your partner studying does not leave you able to claim income support as there are two of you so at least one is able to work.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
How about your partner stops his training temporary, gets a job for 8 hours during the day (surely he can find something with no restrictions), then during that time, both look for another job that would allow him to return to his studies?0

I am not sure how this change works but can't you do something self employed for 8 hours a week? Register as self employed? Say you knit or crochet things and sell them on eBay or something. I just checked the tax credits website about self employment and you'll be surprised at what counts towards your "hours" such as visits to wholesalers! Cleaning your premisis. You could easily suck up eight hours. And it would take eight hours to knit a pair of crochet slippers each week to sell on eBay.
Remember also that self employed people are not entitled to national minimum wage so even if you earned 1p per week self employed you are not breaking any law that I can see.

Just to reiterate what IceQueen said in post 13, you will probably find that the short-fall in your income will be offset by an increase in entitlement to housing benefit and council tax benefit. As you say, you don't want to give up a stable and secure job so perhaps wait to see what happens with the other benefits before making a firm decision about leaving your job.Happy, Happy, Happy!0
