Return = 'to send back'
Not send on.
Go and get yourself stopped for supposedly shoplifting, shown up and stressed out and then perhaps you can get your own one.I know I would rather not go through such a thing in the first place.0 -

i think you are taking too much on to be honest
security had an issue with the reduced article
we werent there
i cant see it being a problem being called back and being asked about my purchases whilst i still have all my faculties
i worked in retail shops long enough to know that we all make mistakes and a voucher was offered as recompense0 -

If they do physically detain you when you have done nothing then at a minimum then it is an assault. If you are assaulted call the police.
thats bad advice because some twisted person or child you dont even know might have slipped something into your bag0 -

No, if someone else slipped something in to my bag then I didn't select it. Their case fails.
There is an acronym: SCONE.
It stands for: Selection, Concealment, Observation, Non-Payment and Exit.
All 5 of must be done properly before anyone is stopped and asked for evidence/proof of purchase.0 -
Maybe they mistook you for being a Television Chef?0

In that case security will have seen the other person put the item in your bag and will be able to tell you exactly what it was and who did it. If someone attempted to stop me I would continue to walk out. If they wanted to discuss it further it would be whilst I continued to my car. If you know you haven't stolen anything there's nothing worse than security guards thinking they have a right to stop you and search peoples belongings when they have no rights at all to do this.0 -
Why on earth would anyone volenteer to be put on puplic display for theft in any situation. Surely there security staff are trained to keep incidents like this as quiet as posible to not cause upset for you or other costumers. Just in case...
Anti-theft devices in meatball... sorry for making that connection but it did make me laugh.0 -

Horrible experience, OP! I really like the fact that you are pursuing your complaint further.
I've never understood why the burden of proof should be on the buyer; they should be the ones proving that the person attempted to steal something rather than forcing the buyer to dig out receipts etc first! Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?0 -
Being found not guilty doesn't necessarily mean you are in fact not guilty
Thats why we have 3 verdicts here in ScotlandNot proven basically meaning we suspect you're guilty, we just don't have enough evidence to find you guilty.
Personally.....if i beep while going through, I'd walk over to the customer services (aka cigarette counter), show them my receipt and give them my bags.
Maybe its just me but.....if i were stopped by a security guard....I'd actually prefer for it to be dealt with in the open with plenty of witnesses. That way everyone sees you walking out and know its been a misunderstanding.
If you're really worried about what other people think......imagine you see someone being stopped.....do you automatically think they're guilty or think its probably been a misunderstanding? Personally....unless they're legging it out the door, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and think its probably been a misunderstanding. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
