Well 24 hours have passed since our horrendous journey home from Scotland yesterday, the traffic on the M1 was quite awful, it was pouring with rain and lorries were still tearing down the road at 80mph, spray everywhere and not a copper in sight. One lorry hogged the middle lane for well over 40 miles, made life very difficult.......

We found the official letter offering us the teneancy of the flat when we got home last night. Today we rang the office and accepted it and were told that the flat is to be cleared, cleaned and decorated before we move in, so we hope to be in by the end of March. We telephoned the officer in charge and he told us we could visit this afternoon, so OH did a bit of garden pot removal this morning, we have taken over an allotment so we are not without a garden completely and this afternoon we went to visit. The living room is a decent size, I have acertained that I can get a table for my machine in the corner of the bedroom, so I can continue to sew......there is a largish cupboard in the hall for storage and we also have access to a small part of the roof void. We have had a couple of estimates from removers, both are prepared to do the move in 2 stages, to move the bedroom so we can take up the carpet and get it relaid in the sitting room. We went to see about a carpet and have found one for £220 laid including underlay and new grippers, so we will move as much of the smaller stuff as we can and just leave the larger stuff fot the removers........we will then sleep at the flat, so I have to sort out the curtains for the bedroom right now......I am going to have to sell the curtains I had made for the living room.....it will cost me more to have them altered than to buy new ones and they really are too nice to cut down.............I cannot get the dishwasher in either, so that is also going to have to go along with the washer, dryer, gas cooker and the small freezer that is in the garage, and many more bits that we do not have room for, the dresser is going with us, we have a long wall it will go on......I love that dresser............we worked so hard to buy it.

We have found that we can get the basic TV programmes without having to subscribe to NTL, so I may transfer the phone to BT as we are now and arrange for my tame computer man to link me up with his provider, he is looking for another lap top for me the desk top is having its hard drive cleaned so I can sell it as well, we do not have room for it.

Well thats all the news for now, we had a good time up in Edinburgh revisiting some old haunts........and my how the place has changed since we left......

Tesco shop today £58.81 afraid I went well over my budget for February, but have only drawn enough cash for this months shop. We filled up with fuel before we left Scotland so thank god are not caught up in that mess.
tomorrow we are going to have a look at Dunelm to see what we can find curtain wise, my kitchen curtains will fit ok, we need 2 pairs for the lounge, two windows make it really nice and bright, the sun was shining in whilst we were there.......
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Hi everyone.
I didn't post yesterday as I had a busy day at w**k, then parent's for tea and by the time I'd got home, bathed kids, ironed uniform, made packed-lunches etc I was too tired!
At school yesterday I made biscuits with the children which was messy but great fun. Next week I'm going to teach them how to make smoothies.

CCstar Glad you're still in one piece after your accident.

Congratulations to those who get the school of their choice. I'll be going through it next year with DD1! I'm sure our LEA only sent the letters out today (probably 2nd class post).
    Have a good evening.

    Hey all,

Haven't read the thread yet and this is the first time I've checked in since half term but just wanted to say hi as I have survived my second parents evening of my teaching career and am generally very proud of myself! Ha! :j

Hope you're all good, apologies if I've been totally insensitive and missed any major dramas!

Love and generally positive vibes to you all.

    :D

Hello loumac, nice to see you back. Pleased survived second parents evening, think that is something that will scare me when I eventually qualify.

Csarina sounds like you have everything organised, know what you're doing etc which is good news.

My dog (the youngest) thinks she's a cat and keeps sitting on the back of the sofa  mad as a hatter that one.

DP seems to have calmed a little since I lost my temper about his moaning about the uni work, just called to say he's now read 25 pages (before was screaming after 5 pages) and that he's done most of it before (lucky for him been over 14 years since I last did it) and didn't moan/swear or loose temper once. Maybe just needed to point out I'd had enough of it being taken out on me. I'm trying to get off Prozac not be pressurised and more stressed!

Anyway, I've done a little sorting of paperwork but not all of it, clothes etc out ready for in morning inc my dog walking stuff for first thing, have managed to make everything ready to put in SC and switch on tomorrow inc veg prepared etc, need to be organised as have a lot on tomorrow!
One day I might be more organised...........

    Have caught up now....ish....! :j

I can never remember names - especially when speed reading!

    However:

-Well done to all those successful secondary school applications
-I'd heard about Brum council messing there's up so sorry to hear about those too
-Keep chins up those with PMT and general blues
-hmmm...... damn I've forgotten everything else I wanted to say but it is nice to catch up with you all.

Lil_me - parents evening is no doubt the scariest bit of the job but it is fab really. It's so nice to get to know your parents and you find (not surprisingly!) that they know their children co very little comes as a surprise!

I can imagine it's interesting, saying that I also find them scary as a parent.

Just realised My MOT is due 2nd April and insurance is 29th March, just been requesting quotes from insurers and it's actually MORE than last year! Got 2 years ncb and experience thought would go down :(

Only got to Page 3 of the thread so far.

Shirley - How gorgeous is he!!! I am a doting granny expecting third grandson in July so would you expect anything different! I am 55 and still broody!

Glad to hear about positive results for children getting in to school. Still have to catch up with rest so I do so hope not disappointment. I know how I would feel if it were mine.

Feeling so much better today with energy and my colleagues at work said today I was obviously much better as I went a wee bit OTT with my racy sense of humour!

Got an e-mail from DH in Bolivia as he has been worried about me. Reassured him that I feel so much better - I have been a bit off since about Christmas because I think I suffer a bit from SAD too.

Anyway, if I don't catch up with everything tonight, love and hugs to all, congrats as ever to those doing good things, welcome to anyone new.

Hope move goes OK - sorry not all will fit in! Sorry weekend wasn't the best weather up here! Anytime I go into Edinburgh it changes!! Roads and weather are just the pits aren't they. Took DH's car to work today and speedo not working. Took over bumps tonight in case of loose connection but no joy. Maybe another big garage bill.

    Love
