For the record can you all stop "Richard Branson this and Richard Branson that" he's a minority shareholder all thats happend is he's allowed ntl to use his brand name and he has little if anything to do with all this.
Essentially it's all still ntl albeit with a different haircut and nothings changed (apart from the channel line up).

BTW you can download the latest episode of LOST several days before Sky show it from the internet, I got next Sundays episode yesterday fom a site called mininova.

anyone that has a problem with loosing Sky Repeats and advertisements from their Virgin Media should leave if they are not happy.
Im sure Uncle Rupert will welcome you with open arms.
Excellent advice. Not happy? Vote with your feet, it's what customer choice is all about.

I am very confused as to where customers stand with this situation and what the best course of action is.
My contract (which as far as I'm concerned I signed with NTL not Virgin) doesn't expire until August but we are not getting the services that we signed up for.
Will the Sky channels be coming back on to Virgin? If not, surely we have a right to cancel???

your contracted to Virgin Media - all NTL did was marge with telewest, and bought out virgin mobile - and rebranded - nothing else... as someone has previously said - most PayTV operaters have in their terms that channel line ups can be subject to change

NTL is now virgin media, I am currently with ntl freedom broadband and talk (dial up) and received a letter a couple of weeks ago that I would be billed in future by virgin media and nothing was to change regarding my account etc. My tv is with sky and am in the process of joining sky with my broadband/talk. Although I am not affected by this as my tv is with sky, I would be annoyed if it was the other way round, and even if I didn't watch sky one that much it would still get to me.

On the national news last night the battle between sky and virgin media came up and the concerns for virgin media customers who had lost their sky channels, included was what customers should do and whether they could take steps because loss of channels.

It was said that The National Consumer Council had got involved - there is an article here:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6410435.stm
The National Consumer Council may ask for a review of the digital television market after Virgin Media stopped broadcasting some BSkyB channels.

It does appear that something will be done soon to resolve the matter.

Regardless of whether virgin gets the sky channels back, I am getting a sky box fitted on monday, I will then downgrade my virgin tv to the free pack as I have phone and broadband with them, and have sky and virgin tv, and be £5 a month better off ( sky is £15 for the pack I want, virgin is £20).
the virgin channels are a nightmare at the moment, have been since the switchover, constant freezing, no programme listings etc.
Sky one is the only channel in our house that is consistently watched by all of us. I can't live without my Stargate.

Can't say I've encountered any problems. Maybe its a problem in your area. I don't understand why the changeover should cause a problem as to all intents and purposes nothing has changed.

For those of us that really don't care about sky, this has been a fantastic renegotiating tool.

You've got until end of March to cancel due to loss of Sky channels if still in contract period.

This reminds me of the Virgin/British airways dirty tricks campaign a few years ago.
Sky is just trying to poach customers.
I hope Richard Branson sticks to his guns.
