Virgin Media Sky Channels Chopped.

That's for them to tell you, but they are saying it.
My personal gripe is that I don't want to be with Virgin. I don't like the brand, I find them to be arrogant bullies, and I've chosen not to do business with them in the past. To accuse Sky (hardly my favourites either, and yes I do moan for the sake of it lol) of arrogance after telling me that they "own my contract now and will do for six months, so tough" (yes really) is just par for the course with Virgin.0 -
normanmark wrote:Totally understand your concerns, but if people are pulling out of contracts because of no sky channels on Virgin media, then why on earth did they not sign with Sky in the first place?
... and after 10 seconds of consideration, why should they not sign with Telewest instead of Sky? If they wanted Sky One, and Telewest was a more attractive proposition, it would have been silly to sign with Sky.
Also, people aren't pulling out of contracts AFAIK. Virgin are telling people that they can't.

Where in your contract does it say you will receive Sky One? Or that you'll receive x number of channels?
But it does say the channel lineup can change.0 -
There was someone from Trading Standard on the Radio earlier today, saying that the loss of these significant channels, would be a significant enough change for customers to challenge that this is not the product they agreed to pay for, therefore customers would be entitled to cancel contracts without penalty or ask for a reduction in their subscription fee.0

away for work at moment, exactly which sky channels have we lost?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0

Sure Nej, but does that mean Virgin can stop receiving every TV channel if they want to? What is an acceptable loss of service? 5 channels? 50? 500?
Of course, market forces would put them out of business if they cancelled the lot, but the problem is not that Sky One has gone per se, but that there was no consulation, Virgin are not compensating, not giving any sweeteners, not apologising etc. It's the arrogance of this filthy brand that does it for me
What it would cost them in monetary to refund the real cost of the Sky channels to their subscribers would be more than made up for in the reputation and the kudos they would get out of it.
TBeckett100 says that Sky asked for 3p per person per day, approximately a quid a month per user. Virgin say that Sky are doubling their prices, so we can say that it cost Virgin a quid a month per user previously. If they gave that quid a month back, or even more, an on_Demand movie free (would cost Virgin nothing at all would it?) per month for the length or their contract then that would at least show some form of contrition and feeling for their customers.
Instead, it's arrogant, faceless "It's not my fault, it's that horrid Aussie's fault" baloni!
To mark the difference, Telewest went off in our area while the X-Factor final was on. Not a great problem to me, but anyway....... we had a letter from Telewest a week or so later saying "Sorry about that, beyond our control, but here....... have a free Front Row movie on us by way of an apology". Now THAT'S showing feeling for customers.0 -
Jillie if I recall it's Sky One, Sky Sports News (unless you pay for the Sky Sports package), Sky News, Sky Two and Sky Three.0

It would be interesting to see what would happen if somebody did complain to trading standards about the loss of Sky One which is/was pretty much the main channel on Cable. I suspect that VM would end up being forced to allow customers to leave without breaching their contract.
I think I will write a letter to someone in authority in VM about this.
Anyone got an address for complaints etc?0 -
thanks just checked with hubby as we apy for sky sports but we have lost the sky sports news as well..
may need to call them when i finally get home'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Reelcrazy, it's.....
Virgin Media Limited (company number 2591237) and Virgin Media Payments Limited (company number 6024812) are both registered in England. The registered office address for both companies is: 160 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5QA.
Interestingly, it was well tucked away on their site. No mention of it in the "Contact Us"... they'd evidently rather talk you down on the phone or ignore your email instead
I had to get the address from the Legal Stuff on the site. 0
