.....AKA, VM have chosen not to supply it to their customers. Sky One *IS*/was available at the right price. The rights or wrongs of that price are for another place, another time.
You've paid for a year's service up front?
Did you explicitly say at the time you signed the contract that you were signing up specifically for SkyOne? If not, I doubt you have much recourse.
... screw Sky One. If you read my previous postings, the channel per se was never an issue.
Why? If you had read your contract, you would see the clause that says that channel line-ups are subject to change.
Out of the 3.5 million subscribers that Virgin have, only 200,000 watch sky one... that's 5%. Hardly a massive pull now is it?
..... big enough for the Office of Fair Trading to express concerns apparently?
cheers,

Omertron, I really don't seek to belittle your point in anyway but what do you call "watching sky one"?
As an example, I watch E4 every week at exactly the same time every week. If you asked me if I watched E4, my answer would be "not really".
Again, if it's good enough for the OFT then it's good enough for me.

... they were though eh?. If I choose not to pay the price for parsnips at my local convenience store, that does not mean that I am not legally allowed to receive parsnips. Same argument with Sky.

.... effectively yes. I have a contract which Virgin will not (despite my efforts on 26/02/07) release. I have to pay them that money whether it is up front, staggered, whatever.......

.....see my posts to Nej earlier. IMO this is big enough to be considered major. It severely compromises the conract that the publicc signed up for in their thousands. Hence the OFT involvement.

that's subjective. You have one set of figures, I could find another.
best wishes,

That'll be Virgin Media gone for me as soon as and Hi to Sky. I watch more Sky1 than any of the other channels, mostly because the other channels either have boring stuff on when I want to watch - and I certainly can't miss my Battlestar and StarTrek.
As for what used to be Teleport Replay, it's Ok except it's so selective - only recently have they had anything other than what the BBC made freely available for download on their website. The V+ is expensive, and not much point if there's not much worth watching, and Virgin Central frankly a waste of space. I'm paying a lot of money for not much more than I could get on Freeview.
As for Richard Branson - I don't trust him any more than I trust Sky. Richard Branson started his business career when he was a student through dodgy dealings I understand (VAT scam), and has just traded on the Virgin image while running the brand like a franchise. Anyone remember Virgin Utilities (electric and gas), or Virgin Cola (not sure if it's still made.). Now it's Virgin TV and Phone.
Virgin media don't intend to offer us a reduction in fees for losing Sky1. I don't trust them - as a big business themselves, they're in it to maximise profit and they're trading on people's perceptions that Virgin is a trailblazer that stands for 'good value'. Virgin perpetually pretends to be 'the little guy standing up to Big Business'. But it's not actually the case for any of their operations, whether or not it was true for his first Virgin operation. What Richard Branson is a master at is making the public believe his hype and an absolute Force Master at marketing and PR.0 -
anyone that has a problem with loosing Sky Repeats and advertisements from their Virgin Media should leave if they are not happy.
Im sure Uncle Rupert will welcome you with open arms.
The channels that have been lost are either rubbish or filled with crap ads for loans and insurance so is it really that big a loss afterall. You dont even get a good 10 minutes of a program without an ad break.0
