Cyclists not using hand signals

Fair enough -- but you did twist about it being inconvenient to give hand signals and you did moan about indicators being too expensive.
Bear that in mind next time you get cut up because you gave inadequate signalling of intent.
nope, not what I said at all
what I said was there are scenarios where a simple indication isnt quite so simple
again I didnt moan about them being too expensive
too expensive and poorly implemented is what I said. quite a different thing
as forBear that in mind next time you get cut up because you gave inadequate signalling of intent
yet again, another sweeping generalisation. anyone in the city is welcome to come for a ride with me.
Then they can see first hand what happens every day.0 -
any indicator product is IME expensiveuntil its a legal requirement then its unlikely to happenI think its a stretch to compare what a cyclist has to do while signalling/preparing/making a maneuver
versus flick a lever and move your head slightly to look in a mirror
It would be an easy comparison if the alternative were to become cheap enough for you, and/or the law made you do it?
So your life is worth as much as a £40 set of lights, and is as important in law as your need to be made to spend that £40.0 -
On the subject of sweeping generalisations...
well that would be what is available
So it'll only happen when cyclists are forced to comply?
again, theres nothing on the market thats worth bothering with

do you have a link to the set of lights?0 -
sigh.since it was over your head.
drivers drink drive and speed don't they?
Not over my head at all. You didn't use the term 'drivers' in your statement, you used the word 'you' which suggested that you were specifically aiming the 'accusation' at Sharpy. In any event, even in this remark, you are making a specific claim that 'drivers' drink drive and speed. Not all drivers do for your information so don't tar people with the same brush just because you are obviously a cyclist with a chip on shoulder about motorists.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
The point he was making was that the sweeping statement that 'cyclists' run through red lights makes no more sense than saying 'drivers' (and therefore the poste, as a driver) speed and drink drive.
In both cases your complaint about taring everyone with the same brush applies.
Only custardy was doing it for comic effect.
For the record, my last bike was a Raleigh Grifter, so no axe to grind.0 -

obviously? Im a driver and a cyclist
however all i see on this thread is what cyclists do
so by the same logic, the drivers in this thread must follow the same path.
my chip as you put it,comes from real life, daily experiences
I have 20+ years of driving experience to go with it.
now have you still got your tar brush out?0 -
