Shrewbie – hey hun, how are you doing? Have you managed to sort anything out with your OH or...? xxx

Hey Jemma, thanks for your epic post! The OH and I moving out of our shared flat on Monday:( It's complicated and I hope we will be able to sort things out by living apart but I'm not sure if it's the best thing for either of us. I won't go into it but it was a beautiful relationship that turned sour for a number of reasons most of which were my fault... Sorry to be depressing! this means I am moving in with my mum for December as the flat hunting on my own got a bit overwhelming!

Sounds like you've got your head screwed on with the house move, can be difficult to rein in the urge to get cracking so well done!

I have become a bit side-tracked by Xmas but soooooo want to be debt free by end Jan - £1,500 ish to go!!!

Well done everyone, you are inspirational! (think i'm feeling a bit emotional this week, seem to have mislaid my sense of humour haha) :T

hmmmmmmmmmmm having a nightmare week with my car.... it broke down Sunday...Monday....Tuesday....Thursday...and... Today!

I had to have a new throttle pedal (actually it was 2nd hand -very mse) which the Vauxhall dealer was going to charge £311 and I got it all done for £75! However, on the way to the garage yesterday I broke down as my back passenger wheel locked and black billowing smoke was coming from the wheel... My dad had to come and help me and we limped the car into the garage. They fixed the throttle pedal and said to keep an eye on the brakes locking.... Guess what happened this morning...?????!!!! Yep, it locked again and I can't get my car off the bl00dy drive!!! I've tried jiggling the handbrake like my dad did yesterday, I've tried rocking it forwards then back but the smell is awful. I think it's friction from my tyres but not sure. Then I tried pouring hot water over the brake incase it was just frozen. Nope. So I'm stuck working from home for the 3rd day this week. Not amused. Plus.... It's fat friday and we always have KFC but my nearest is 12 miles away which is a bit of a hike...!!!!!!!! Doh! I'll have to walk up to the chippy later... My dad is on a half day today so hopefully he'll be able to get my car moving enough to get it to the garage. I was meant to be going to a big Christmas party in Liverpool tomorrow with 18 friends so I'm absolutely gutted as there is no way I will be able to go. Even if it gets fixed tomorrow then I'm reluctant to drive an hour from home without seeing how it is for a couple of days. Last thing I want is to break down on the motorway and be stranded...!

With regards to the house, I've decided not to go for it, at least not yet anyway. The mortgage advisor has given me a mortgage in principle for £138k so it allows me to look at houses up to £152k. I'm going to leave looking until I have a bit more money together and might be able to get a really lovely house in the middle of next year. I don't want to go anywhere near £150k especially cos of the stamp duty over £125k but at least I could put in cheeky offers. Not worrying about getting a house and fretting about getting every penny together for the fees and deposit has actually made me sleep better. I got very obsessed with it all. I need to get obsessed with having a deposit plus fees plus a surplus if possible to change things and redecorate. I'm still excited but at least I know I've more options now and it's up to me to make it happen.

    xxx

Eep- sorry to hear the car isn't working! Everyone seems to be having problems with their cars just now, both my line managers, and several work colleagues. I'm not taking the car anywhere this weekend, just in case! Hope you get something sorted house wise soon! No flood plains though.

Well tonight two of my colleagues got together to throw a sales party. Unfortunately, as they're single Mum's, and I'm just a single, I had to buy a few things I didn't need to support their new business ventures. It's so hard to explain that you can't afford anything in these situations (you guys probably know how, but I haven't figured it out yet), so I kept the purchases to things I would probably need to replace soon anyway. And it was nice to actually have a friendly night with the work colleagues. They usually leave me out, as I seem so 'serious' at work (really I just keep my head down and work hard, as I could do with the pay rise!).

Debt update tomorrow, when I've recovered from the spends tonight!

    Happy St Andrew's Day everyone!

Oh dear, I'm afraid last night I came home a little bit tipsy, and had a comment splurge. Facebook did not escape, and neither did you lot! I'm playing the waiting game now, I know the hangover's going to hit, but I don't know when...

Unfortunately in my wares, I didn't read much beyond the first comment I came across, and have missed some important posts.

Well done Lemonpopsicle on being debt free for Christmas 2012!

Kerri, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandad, sending hugs your way!

Jemma, thanks for the mention - I am enjoying the tablet, but unfortunately it has made access that much easier for drunken commenting ;)

Just needed to share this...we've spent about £4k on interest this year!! And that's without even starting to think about mortgage interest!!

I can't believe how stupid we've been. So pleased I had my LBM last year! I'm just off to bang my head against the wall repeatedly :D :wall: :rotfl:
