  • Hi everyone, have scanned down the latest posts and want to congratulate everyone on some amazing figures this year. Particularly those of you who have hit your DEBT FREE DATE! :j

I'm here to post probably my final figures for this year:
    #256 £11,983.14/£15,000
Haven't reached my goal for this year but have nearly hit 80% which I am pretty pleased about. Will definetly be back next year as have approximately £17,000 still to go. Am feeling quite inspired by the stories on here and plan to knuckle down in the New Year, hopefully I will be debt free by Christmas 2013!!
Paid off £16,715/£16,550 by Christmas 2013
Now to pay off all remaining debts by Christmas 2014
    Total to pay #041 £7,086.97/£16,500
    Only £9,413.03 to go

Now now Jakes_Mum, we know you're not the shy retiring type :)

The Debt Free Roll of Honour thread is a brilliant thread that offers inspiration to people in debt, it's not a buddy-buddy-chatty-chatty place, but it's friendly enough. I don't think I've ever seen a negative post on there.

I don't want to push you into something you don't want to do, but it's a great thread for newbies to go to for inspiration and as most posts offer a pearl of wisdom there are tips and motivation there too. :D
  • A bit belated but congratulations JM :) (I'm just a bit green really!)

I really need to rein in my spending... gutting to think I could have been so close if I hadn't suddenly gone on a spending binge these last few weeks.

I have had to sit on my hands at work to not buy things, I did buy some Xmas presents for people but that's OK as i see that as money saved as I get a discount so I buy what I can afford and people get nice gifts for my money :D

I am so happy not only to have been able to reach my target amount for this year, but to also pay off more than I thought I was able to pay..This was by no means all of my debts, as I only have a small amount to pay debts with each month.. I will be back next year and the year after that..

    #192 Pd £1950.47 / £1000 - 195% ? :T

Well done that is excellent, I will be here next year too, but i am determined for the debt to go!!

Shrewbie – hey hun, how are you doing? Have you managed to sort anything out with your OH or...? xxx

Recurrent-ostrich – well done on paying off over 75% in a year! I know this is 75% of your target figure and not your total debt but it’s something you should be amazingly proud of! I started 6 years ago with £43k of debt and am now down to virtually nothing, I only actually started trying to do something about my debt in this last year. You’ll get there hun xxx I think you’ve done the sensible thing in paying off the Very debt with the holiday fund as that kind of interest is disgraceful!

Nctmum – has your car been behaving itself recently?

Spagbol – how have you been getting on with reducing your overdrafts? Is it still a faff with all of them?! I would LOVE to see you reach 200% of your original target of £10000 this year. Even if you don’t, then the amount you have paid off is incredible. Fingers crossed for your PPI claim!

Vw campervan mum – hey VW, how are you doing? Have you managed to go back to work? How are your stress levels hun? I’ve been there and done that, it’s awful xxx

Minicooper272 – so how are you liking your tablet? Have you managed to find anything for your Xmas do’s you?

Kerri_dfw – are you still climbing? Have you made any more friends in Cardiff yet? How’s the sewing going? Sold anything more?

Lemonpopsicle – hey hun, have you had a date for removing your cyst yet? I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed for you that it’s nothing sinister xxx

Brightpurple – you are so close to 80% which is incredible in a year!!! Look forward to seeing you on the team next year!

CW2 – WOW!!! Your total is fantastic! I’ve always included any savings to reduce my debt figure as I have the money there to pay it off if I wanted. So do you think you’ll be debt free by Xmas???

Parsniphead – has the munchkin destroyed anything else recently???

Kerfuffle – You are sooooooo close to 50%!!! Have you managed to find out if your payment was the last one to Santander yet?

Mumof3plusoh – so how is life on the black side? Is it still a novelty to see all those balances with a C next to them?

seriousDFW – is it only 2 more pay packets until your DFD? Have you decided how you’re going to spend your 1st one without paying any debt? Got anything special planned?

Affordmylife – how are getting on with buying your Xmas pressies? Have you managed to stick to a budget?

Glenda – well getting to 60% paid off is a fantastic achievement, hope to see you next year and maybe you could be debt free by the summer!

Helen Pie – have you been having any more nightmares with NW??? Well done for paying off your loan!!!!!! How did you do in the baking competition? Sounds scrummy!

His missus – Wow, £195 for your stamps and SAD lamp, that is awesome!!!

Mrsyallop – over 75% paid off, woot woot!!! Wow! 28lbs lost between you?! That is fantastic!

Jakes-mum – soooooooo, how is the bigshot???? I really need to get my !!!! in gear and start making some Christmas cards!

Psychopathbabble – so what is your total now hun? 14.5lbs!!!! Sooooo jealous....!

Ruthy1604 – how’s your mum hun? Glad to hear you had a good time in Florida, you deserved it!

GreenSaints – well done for nearly reaching 30% paid off!!! The amount you have cleared since Jan 2011 is phenomenal!

Choclover – well done on losing another kilo! Have you found an occasion yet to wear your killer heels???

Canucksfan – how is the baby??? How long is it now until you’re due??? It must only be about 6 weeks?

Fallenwiccan – thanks for the advice on the £5k for fees on top of the mortgage. I seemed to have been a bit obsessed recently with buying a house but I seem to be in a much more balanced place and can see the logic in waiting a bit longer!

Loubie_lou – so any improvement on the situation with the guy you went on your dates with? How is your new job going???

NewlyFrugalMumof3 – great to hear from you. Don’t worry, part of getting more money savvy is understanding that the best laid plans go haywire when life gets in the way! What is important is how you deal with each time and you sound as though it hasn’t fazed you in the slightest!

Sharronej - £1200 for a pram??????!!!!!! OMG!!! Glad I didn’t offer to pay for one for my niece! Wowzer...

Avogirly – come on you can do it, you’re almost at 90%!!!!!

Suzitiger – do you think you’ll be able to make it to £800 hun? Come on, you can do it!!!

Tinks14 – wow, just shy of 50%, well done!!!

Oompa Loompa – nice one for getting over that 50% mark, that is a great achievement!
Banwa – it doesn’t matter in a way how much you’ve paid off or what your actual debt is, the fact that you are actively taking steps to change your life for the better and have learnt lessons from your past is what is important. You’re doing great and paying off over £7k is a fantastic achievement let alone with the uncertainty of your OH’s job. Xxx

Munchin – well, reaching over 3/4s of the way is a blooming brilliant achievement, well done!

  • Wow Jemma that is a mammoth post and ty for including me. Not really noticed much for the first month as with Christmas and having a holiday at half term just stayed in the black.

Had a good day today as emptied my sealed pot and have managed to save £326.40:j:j:j:j:j

Feeling slightly pleased with myself as have worked really hard to become dept free and also saved a bit towards Christmas. Hope that doesn't sound too smug as it is not meant to be.

If I can do it anyone can :rotfl:

My plan for next yr is to try and save more and be more organised.

Keep going everyone you are all doing brilliantly x

  • Wow, I turn my back for 5 minutes and all sort of crazy happens!
Jakes-Mum, that is a spectacular amount to have paid off - you can have a bit of a breather over Christmas now!
Hi Jemma, what a marvellous stroke of luck for you, getting repaid like that! Buying a house is like a dream come true for you. It sounds like you know what you are looking for and that you won't rush into any big decision re a house. What a great ending to a tricky year for you!
And for the hat-trick, congratulation to Muppets for your new debt-free status...hurrah!
Baby continues to grow well and I now have the date for my section. We still don't have a name for the baby...the other children are compiling lists of names for the middle name. All the girls' names are coming from Disney Channel Shows and all the boys' names are coming from the band, One Direction (squeeeee!)... and not one of them are going to appear on the baby's birth certificate! No way, no how!
I am still not receiving any money from work, while they argue whether the injury is pregnancy related or not. I am going to buy a lottery ticket this week...if I win, a couple of mill might get me through until the Mat Leave starts!
Good Luck in these final few days peeps! x
