So quiet in here this week!

    Hope everyone is ok...

I've been busy all week: rushing out of work to get home as early as possible to prepare for my first ever baking competition on Sunday :D SO much to do and I'm really exhausted. Cakes aren't up to what I would have hoped but the best I can do whilst working 12 hour days, too :( Still, looking forward to it anyway. Will get £50 voucher if I win any class to spend in the local baking shop, so that will pay for the tins I need to make my sister-in-law's wedding cake next year if I'm lucky enough to win

No more debt-busting yet this month. Unfortunately saw a familiar envelope on the doorstep yesterday, telling DH that he's gone over his overdraft limit, AGAIN! He's agreed to remove the overdraft after we clear it at the end of the month so hopefully that will remove some of the feeling that he has the buffer there that means he keeps going over it, IYKWIM. If he knows there's no buffer, my hope is that he will think a little more before spending....;)

Off to see my dad in a local production of Calendar Girls later this eve. Really looking forward to it but it does mean that I will have to come home and sugarpaste my cakes at about midnight :(

Have a lovely MSE day everyone

    xx

Not been on here for a couple of days as I've nothing to report, but there seems to be some fantastic payments going on here - well done to all of you! I've also been a bit cheeky, I've bought my first ever pair of killer heels! I've always wanted a pair but my feet are really fussy, so in the past have played it safe with a wide mid heel in black, quite boring but goes with anything type of shoe. These are a bronze colour and will still go with most things and they were in the sale - down to £16 from £36 so I don't feel so guilty. Hopefully will be wearing them to hubby's xmas do and to a wedding - all I need to do now is learn how to walk in them!

On another note I've lost another kilo, so now I've nearly lost nearly half a stone since September! Yippee!!!

Wow - well done on your weight loss:D I lost 7lb before my hols and have put 11lb back on  I'm hoping most of it is extra fluid retention from flying, but I'm too scared to weigh since :o

    The shoes sound lush!

Hey possums!!! How the devil are you??? Haven't caught up yet but just wanted to let you know I'm ok and haven't disappeared!

I've actually been very mse recently and have got my debt busting mojo well and truly back :j:j:j

I set off straight from work tonight and took back £127 of "stuff" I'd bought when redecorating my room last month but hadn't used. It is amazing how much I took back. I tend to do this, I feel down so go out and do a shopping binge but it's like an addiction and I HAVE to have these things. Normally it wears off in a couple of days and I take most of it back... I've learnt now to not take off any wrapping or tags until I'm 100% :rotfl:

It's all turned around as I've been told that I could get a mortgage on my own for up to £130k :j:j:j and with a deposit of 10% so my goal in 2013 is to save up £13k :D (I will have paid off about £15k this year but next year I'll still be paying £260/month off my loan). That means I'll be looking for a house about this time next year with a view to moving in roughly Jan/Feb 14. I'll then only have about 6 months left of my loan and then they are giving me £1500 cashback in Sep 14 which will be handy if I need a new bathroom or kitchen or whatever :j:j:j

I've also stopped being a self imposed hermit and am off to Liverpool tomorrow to a painting party to help a friend then he's cooking food for us all and having some drinks. Will be great to see them all again and be out of here for at least a night. I've got something a little more somber on Sunday as it's the 1 yr anniversary of my best friends dad's death and all his side of the family are coming over so my friend has asked me to help make sandwiches and generally just be there to support her. We'll probably sneak off to the pub in the afternoon as they are apparently very hard work! On Thurs I'm going to see some friends in Manchester, next weekend I'm seeing some friends in St Helens and then I've got another night in Liverpool on the 15th and 2 Christmas parties in December! Out of all these, I only have to pay for some drinks (my works Christmas do is in a Best Western hotel, we're all staying over and it's an all inclusive function which work are paying for )

So, in short, all is good in the Jemma world at the moment. I've seen a gorgeous black lace pencil skirt in Matalan that I'm going to get and put with a top I already have and just get some accessories to keep costs down. Nothing is more important to me that getting my own place now.

I've even struck a deal with my sister. I absolutely HATE and DETEST fleabay so my sister is going to list everying and she gets a 30% cut after fees. I must have about £700-800 of stuff that can be sold at least.

My other sister wanted a camera for Christmas to take pictures and videos of her baby due in Feb so I've swapped my Tesco clubcard vouchers for Jessops cos it's £5 for £10 which means I have £50 to go towards her camera.

I've also been arguing with RAC for another discount and won, I've been looking at my employee benefits and I get oodles off over 800 retailers so I'm going to make use of this for Christmas for me AND my family so we all save money. Lastly I'm going to be looking at getting a cashback credit card to see if I can start making some money when I buy fuel and food...

I don't think that's bad for a week considering that work is unbelievably manic! I get my Xmaas bonus at the end of this month (I know this as I work everyone's bonus out :rotfl:) and it means that I will have paid off everything except my loan and can start saving for a house :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Thank you all for being so patient with me. I cannot tell you how incredible it feels to be so close to finishing this challenge with so many of you changing your lives for the better. It means the world to me :A:A:A:A:A xxx

  • Well done Jemma, you seem to have your mojo back and great to hear that you are getting out and about.

Fantastic news about the mortgage. This seems to certainly have done the trick and given you the motivation you needed. Just think in 12 months you could have your won place. You could have a painting party for your MSE friends.:rotfl:
