Thank you Jemma for my Roll of Honor post!
Spagbol - being a DFW is definitely a hard journey that has its many ups and downs. Sometimes you need to adjust to them, sometimes you just need to push ahead but really only you know what is best for you. I was pretty focused on debt busting for a long time. Then second year I was with ex bf (3yrs ago now) I decided I finally needed some reward and went for my first proper holiday with him. Then I broke up with him and met my current BF and we soon moved in together which meant eventually my DFD got pushed back by a year. But it was so worth it because I finally got what I really wanted, a BF who really wanted to be with me and I'm still very happy with him.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Well volunteered!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I was thinking that if anyone wanted to [STRIKE]takeover[/STRIKE];) help then we could each take turns in running the thread on maybe a monthly basis so it's not just one person? What do you think? xxx

Well done Tirlittan!!! (I hope I spelled that right)
Just a quick drop-in for me, no updates but I've been wracking up expenses like nobodies business! I've been trying to absorb them into my debit account so that I can benefit from the nice reimbursement next month, but it's made things a tad tight atm. Pay day in 2 weeks!0 -
Congrats tirlittian! Excellent work getting yourself debt free and hope you can go on to start enjoying life in the black again!DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Hang in there - I feel like I have been on the debt repayment treadmill for ever (I think I'm in my 8th year :eek: but next year will be my last thanks to you all) so I know its tough. I think the others are right - you are probably setting a good work ethic into your children, and in the "want it now at any cost" society we live in, its probably the best start you can give them. I sometimes get upset because I too am a grumpy mummy more often than I'd like. I have to travel 2 hours to work and back every day and I get so tired. I am determined to be debt free to give me more options - I too am thinking of getting a cheaper house so we are all under less stress. I think life is too short!!
Hugs to you all - the people who have paid off already are such an inspiration
It's so hard isn't it? You have done so well too- 8 years!! It must feel so good to know one more year should do it, well done :jWell volunteered!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm happy to help as long as someone writes me a user guide because I'm sure you've mentioned spreadsheets before to update the front page and that all sounds rather complicated :rotfl::rotfl:
Could we make it easier by just updating our own totals in our sigs? The front page is brilliant :T but I presume that is what takes up all the time?DMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -
Hello all!
Payday tomorrow although my CC payment will basically cover the bed we've just ordered on it (I know it's not officially on the CC yet but it will be on the next one) and the interest due. So my debt won't be going down this month but.. it won't be going up either! There'd have been a time though when we'd have ordered the bed on the CC and just paid the minimum and upped our debt.
Also getting a £250 bonus in my pay tomorrow for my "high level of skill, responsibility and understanding in a particular task" just for doing my job IMO but I'm not complaining - it's nice to be appreciated for my hard work
Can't decide whether to pay extra off the CC with it, put it in the cruise fund or put it away to pay for Christmas...0 -
Awww Spagbol I'm really feeling for you
We used to live in Oxfordshire (which is expensive), we had two small kids, DH worked full time in a job he had loved but had started to hate. I had worked and commuted PT and then had a breakdown following post natal depression. We felt that we were just about keeping afloat but we never had any hols, treats etc and were up to our necks in debt and mortgage. We were avid watchers of that Castaway programme in 2000 with Ben Foden and when my hubby had his 2 weeks off at Xmas 2000 he couldn't face going back, we had had such a lovely time all together. We decided we'd had enough and were going to move somewhere where we wouldn't need a mortgage and where the kids could have a better life. So in May 2001 we moved to Pembrokeshire having sold our house privately :money: and bought a wreck at auction. Neither of us worked, our work was rebuilding the house (we lived in a touring caravan in the garden) which took a year. The kids had a ball and we had a lovely house with no mortgage. Bliss. Sorry to waffle. There was a brilliant poem on Castaway called Risk which I'm sure you can get a copy of online, this was stuck on our caravan wall to remind us why you sometimes have to take a risk (we are definitely NOT risk takers normally). x

Oh WOW lemonpopsicle, you are living the dream!! My dream that is :T Sounds absolutely amazing! I would worry though about leaving friends behind (not family, I'd rather put a few miles in between :rotfl:) and DS1 is in juniors now...how old were your kids? Also how do you find the switch from home counties to Welsh climate? :rotfl:
Did you find new jobs there? Sorry for 20 questions...pm me if you'd ratherDMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:0
