The "Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2012" challenge - PART 3!!!

Oh, Spag bol sending you (((hugs))) (but not the pervy threesome hug on here :rotfl:) You have to do what's right for you and your family. Do you really feel that moving would improve your financial situation enough to go through the whole process of moving?
Your children probably just see it as a way of life with you both working so hard. They'll also probably grow up to be hard-workers too
Maybe you should set aside one afternoon/evening when it's all about them - a games night, trip to the park - if you feel you don't get to spend enough time with them.
In the long run though, you'll be debt free in a couple of years and then you can enjoy life as you want so don't give up! You've worked really hard and you've paid an awful lot of debt this year and you should be proud of yourself for doing so not beating yourself up because you got into debt.
(otherwise we'd all have to beat ourselves up for getting into debt and this wouldn't be a pretty thread anymore :rotfl:)0 -

Spagbol, you are doing so well. Have you sat down as a family to discuss with you kids about how this debt busting is really affecting them, or is it just what you are perceiving?
I have two little ones, and due us working all the time and doing all the childcare between us we don't get very much time together as a family, and whenever my husband arranges time off (like today!) I book another nightshift as overtime (like last night!!- just woken up!!). But really what is the alternative? I must get this debt paid off so we can all have a stable future.
I said to my husband last year- give me one year and we will get to our target. And we will, with grit and determination! And so will you, and what an amazing feeling it will be!
Keep it up spagbol!!!xxxLBM 14th Oct 2011 TOTAL DEBT £8500  £8500/£8500 (100%) paid)

Thanks both of you, you have given me much to think about. I don't think the kids feel hard done by to be honest, I know I am not at my full mummy potential and am very tired and grumpy. I also (selfishly) want to do nice things that cost money AND also sit on my fat a**e sometimesThen I'll really be living the dream!
We can't afford much in the lower bracket here, we are in the lowest already really. We could go closer to the nearest town and get a victorian terrace (always fancied one) for about £60-80k less than ours is worth which would pay off a fair bit.
Hmmmm I just wish I knew what to do for the best. In a way I wish we'd just started a DMP 2 or 3 years ago but couldn't face that except as a last resort.
Anyway, I am just having a wobble (seems to be a monthly event whilst waiting for payday!) I am sure and will feel better next week. Thanks again to everyoneDMP started Oct '17: £79,974 :eek::eek::eek::eek:0 -

Hang in there - I feel like I have been on the debt repayment treadmill for ever (I think I'm in my 8th year  but next year will be my last thanks to you all) so I know its tough. I think the others are right - you are probably setting a good work ethic into your children, and in the "want it now at any cost" society we live in, its probably the best start you can give them. I sometimes get upset because I too am a grumpy mummy more often than I'd like. I have to travel 2 hours to work and back every day and I get so tired. I am determined to be debt free to give me more options - I too am thinking of getting a cheaper house so we are all under less stress. I think life is too short!!
Hugs to you all - the people who have paid off already are such an inspiration:xmastree:POMDB Xmas 2013 Board - Paid off £12k in 2012 :j:j :xmastree:

I was thinking that if anyone wanted to [STRIKE]takeover[/STRIKE];) help then we could each take turns in running the thread on maybe a monthly basis so it's not just one person? What do you think? xxxNew Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T
