The "Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2012" challenge - PART 3!!!

Mrs Addicted to Spending – I bet you can’t wait until your loan is paid off in Dec as you sound as though you’ve felt a little frustrated by not being able to make additional payments due to DH’s job situation? You’re showing the true spirit of this thread though, life throws curve balls and it is up to us how we choose to react to them. You’ve picked yourself back up, re-evaluated your position and are carrying on. I really admire you for that and I hope it inspires many more people on here that it is not a failure if you’re not debt free by a certain date. It would be a failure to give up. And what will giving up achieve? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Every penny paid off your debt is a step closer to freedom. We’ll be with you next year to see you accomplish this goal x
Thanks very much Gemma - you are so kind and supportive :T. Like you say, I'm trying to be positive - we've only got 3 months until December and at the end of November, we will be opening our Sealed Pot so I'm going to use that to pay off a little bit then. Even if I finish the year with only 45% of my debt paid off, then that's 45% less debt than this time last year. So thank you ever so much for running this thread and giving me the inspiration to do this :A:T.

Choclover - Ive put 2 kids through potty training, DS's nursery pretty much did it for me and started when he was in first room  i'll be honest it made not an ounce of difference, he did it when he was ready and not a minute before.
DD's nursery refused point blank to have any knickers until she had been completely dry for a week (preferred this to be honest!) and again, she did it when she was ready. I would take the decision out of the nurseries hands and say you feel its counterproductive to be trying to force her to train when she is not ready 'in your opinion as her mother' and that you will return to nappies at nursery until she has been dry for an entire week at home. There really is no point upsetting the tot with wetting herself bless her.
Jemma - Ahh ty my lovely, yes DH's Nokia was also white and he said its a girly colour too, I just bought him a 99p cover off fleabay :rotfl: I am still 'looking' at the Big Shothe's taking me to Cambridge today to *look* (please read that as co-erce me into buying) at beads in hobby craft :rotfl: he's totally been bitten by the crafting bug and was sat yesterday going 'look love, these colours go together so well, if you make it like this . . . ' like I havent been crafting for years! and got in a right strop because I used all my beads making bracelets so he couldnt play :rotfl:
You likey my chocolate bouquet thenits sat in my fridge at the minute :rotfl: makes me smile every time I open the door
I agree - this is definitely the key to "potty training" - they do it when they are good and ready.
Like your chocolate bouquet btw JakesMum!

This is a health warning for all those that are entitled to a flu jab but haven't had one yet. Go and get it done quick!. I've been in bed with the flu since last Saturday, god I've been ill. I am never off sick but literally couldn't get out of bed for work on Wednesday, today is the first day that I've got out of bed and my jimjams. If I hadn't been a fit bunny it doesn't bear thinking about, I've lost nearly half a stone since Saturday!
Hope you feel better soon.Blosson_Petal_Rainbow wrote: »Hi i know im a bit late joining but i have wiped £1395 of my deb in 5 months...only £625 to goim so proud of myself. Just though id say i feel like a weight has been lifted and can not wait to be totally debt free!! Well done people xx

Jemma, thanks for including me in your mega reply!
I am pleased that I've paid off a chunk of debt, but I can't deny that I feel guilty and frustrated with myself because I know I could have been DF by now if I'd really worked hard at it.
To be honest, my OH and I haven't really adjusted our lifestyles very much at all so I know we have wasted a lot of money. We are our own worst enemy, both of us have our weaknesses and we can't seem to be strong in the face of temptation!
However, I am hoping that we will be DF by the end of January and that seems really close now. Work is manic at the moment so hopefully being busy will make the time fly by and then come January 28th we will be having a massive celebration!
I am inspired by all other posters here though. I shudder to think what state our finances would be in if I hadn't found MSE, and I doubt I would have paid off anywhere near as much debt without the inspiring stories of others on this particular challenge thread.
So another 'thank you' Jemma and it's great to read about all the positive things going on in your life. I genuinely have no doubt whatsoever that you are a very strong person and will succeed in getting where you want to be in life!DFBX2013: 021 :j seriousDFW £0 [STRIKE] £3,374[/STRIKE] 100% Paid off

Very dodgy situation here. I live in a house share, housemate moved in last April, her bf started sleeping round almost every night (even while she was away on holiday for 3 weeks) but he never officially lived here, he has his own place nearby.
We started getting mail coming for lots of new people, the new housemate, her bf and a couple of others whose names we did not recognise, but she took them all into her room. Very odd.
New housemate moved out after 3 months, she got home-sick and went back to her home country. We keep getting lots of mail for her bf though - Tesco Bank in particular, DVLA, and a debt collection agency. Starting to get a bit paranoid about it, why is his car registered here  We've told him several times to change his address, not happened yet. What do we do?0 -

Even though you aren't supposed to open peoples mail, in the past I've rung companies to tell them the person doesn't live there. We had loads of debt collection companies and bailiffs turning up at the door... very annoying.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

See that's what concerns me, if I call someone, will our address be black-listed, and all future tenants have trouble getting credit cards, insurance etc?
Psycho, when you called them up, were the companies understanding?0 -

I'd have thought that if there is something going on re. debt collection agencies that there would already be a mark against the property, but I'm no expert. It might be an idea to post your problem on another board, where I'm sure there will be someone to help.Life's little instructions- Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated..Watch a sunrise at least once a year..Strive for excellence not perfection:j£2 SC no.70 £140/£350SPC no.73 SPC9 £248 SPC10 target £250DFBX12 No. 069 £7719 / £7719 DEBT FREE 30/11/122013 mfw No.4 MORTGAGE FREE 5/8/130 -

Hmm, at first they will probably think you are just mugging them off but eventually they got the hint. I think I gave them the letting agents details instead. I also took to just repeating 'they moved out over 2 years ago, leave me alone' without so much as a hello when the phone rang too.
I'm fairly sure it won't affect you or future tenants credit checks but I'm positive the anwer will be on this forum somewhere. As long as you aren't connected by name or financially then it should be ok.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
