Woohoo - hubby and I got a wage increase this week but rather than tell him about it (noticed on our bank statement) I'm just putting that increase into a seperate bank account (e-account) to save for our holiday in November. By then we should have £900 which is enough for our 2 week trip in Florida - and we won't have noticed we were saving it as its not something we ever got used to. Does that make any sense to anyone but me?

Makes total sense to me! Thats a great idea - esp if DH hasn't noticed it :rotfl:

When are you off to Florida? We're going in October :j

Thanks Jakes - Mum - that made me giggle at the thought of you waiting for 20 mins for him to remember that you were there!! That sounds just like my lot :o My parents are coming up to collect them on Tuesday & they will spend a week in Cornwall then - it will be really strange with no kids at all :( But they're doing us a huge favour so that we won't have to pay out in childcare costs.

Lol re your DH - mine is very careful & doesn't spend on anything unnecessary really - I think that makes it harder for him because theres nothing he can cut back. BUT that doesn't explain where his £60 goes does it ???:rotfl:

His attitude would be to pay back slower & live a little more. I see where he is coming from as the kids will only want to spend time with us for a few more years, so what is the point of scrimping and scraping to pay back the mortgage early :(:(

BTW How are your tonsils now? All better i hope!
    Ruth

If I remember correctly, my sister walked in and found me sat there and hollered for him to come back :o. Enjoy the peace and remember how much you missed them the next week when they return and drive you insane :rotfl:.

DH has the same thoughts re debt, im firmly in the scrimp as much as you can for a year and get rid of the noose completely train of thought. Once the debt is gone I will tackle the mortgage but nowhere near on the scale ive been tackling the debt. We will both have pocket money each month and there will be (for the first time) an entertainment fund which will cover a meal out every month for the 4 of us and some activities for school holidays. Plus I am determined to have a holiday fund so we go abroad every year :o.

Makes me sound such a control freak, reading that back to myself

The tonsils are alot better thank you for asking, even though I had to stop taking the antibiotics after two days as oooo didnt the half make me feel sick .

We are going in November - bought into DVC whilst we were there at Xmas. They gave us a free year of points as an incentive so accommodation not costing anything this year, we were there 4 weeks over Xmas so got annual passes - and they are still in date. Only had to pay for flights - I'm trying to find reasons why this trip is so MSE - lol

Gordon bennett, 8 pages to catch up.

Well very bad week. After resisting so long have splurged out on little one and spent more then intended! Even husband has noticed and said "I thought you were meant to be spending." So I'm £75.51 behind my signature. However its pay day in 8 days, so hopefully no more spending! Spoke to the council and they have asked me to some more digging so going to take a bit longer then I thought.

Sprig clean complete however husband went overboard and through out something I was keeping for the PTA at school.

So spent the evening forcing myself to work on my spreadsheet! Faced up to a massive reality! Still on track for October but chewed with myself! Onwards and upwards!

    Hey Guys,
Wow I've been trying to catch up for a while, lots of things about Bras on fleabay :) good to know you guys are managing to sell all kinds of one man's trash for treasure so to speak :)
I'm feeling very pleased with myself for not spending any money on snacks and fizzy drinks all week at work, trying to just spend money on my transport and that seems to be working well. its not just for money saving (although that helps) but for saving my waistline too :-)

I've loved reading what everyone else has been up to as usual. Really hoping to update by totals soon, but for now I know that things are being paid off ok so Im happy to wait for a while, hope you guys are too. :rotfl:

My mum always told me, whenever you get a pay rise, put half the difference into savings - you will notice that you're better off, but your savings will benefit the most! I'm definitely following this when my debts are clear!

On a plus note, I was given a leaflet for a free £5 on a bingo site, so sat most of last night spending it and won £56! Will be trying this out in future!
