I'm not doing ***as*** well as I'd hoped, but things are looking so much better!!

    .....

Although I am now very unlikely to be debt free by Xmas, I will most definately be debt savy and hopefully reach the 25% less debt if I work hard!!

Keep up the good work people xx:T

I realised I wouldnt manage to make it to DF by Xmas too a while back, it is hard when you have a high starting figure, but even 25% off is a massive achievement  Keep up the good work

    Hello all!

Well done to everyone who has been making payments, little or large!

Good news on the job affordmylife!

I have a CC that I rarely use to buy stuff but now and again put something on and then pay it off in the same month. I also have a minimum payment going out just in case. This month I bought some glasses cheap that I saw on the newsletter. However, I paid the balance too late and the minimum payment went out as well and now I'm £5 in credit. But who knows when I'm next going to use the card!! Problem is, I can't remember the pin so can only use it online.

Debtwise, there's so many things coming up and stuff I want to do, I don't think I can cut off another month. I'll pay it in the 3 months reminding and that means I have to pay less each month releasing more funds to do fun stuff.

    Hi guys

No real update on debts here but I did want to report I have finally got round to getting a load of stuff on fleabay yesterday.

    57 piece wedgewood dinner service
5 dartington crystal wine master wine glasses
    A dartington crystal claret jug
    A radley passport holder
An Aspinals briefcase (already had 2 bids on that!!)
A brand new M&S wrap (unwanted gift)

It was free listing weekend so I put a reasonable staring price on most things e.g. £20 on briefcase but I have put a reserve on the dinner service as I don't want it to go for peanuts. It is a 8 place setting service so I did think about breaking it down to two 4 place setting or even to indvidual items, but I don't think I can take the stress. I'll just have to see if it goes or not this time.

I'll update the results next week when the auctions end.

    Morning all!

    Congrats on the job affordmylife.
Lou, don't make us send jake's mum round with one of her trusty frying pans, you can and will do it!
Jemma, I know how hard it is when work makes you so unhappy. Maybe you need to break free of it especially if it's not helping you get back to the place you want to me emotionally.

Well, my CC has taken a bit of a hammering this week, I guess paying off £400 at start of the month was a bit optimistic really as I've managed to run short. SO I've decided this month I'm just going to pay the minimum + interest, especially as we go on holiday in September. It will increase my debt a little but hopefully I won't need to use the CC next month.

It's great to hear from so many of you who have still been plugging away at your debt free journey!!! I think the total for August is going to be AWESOME!!!!!

Affordmylife - massive congratulations for getting the job!!! I'm so proud of you, I absolutely cannot wait until you're on the DFBX12 Roll of Honour x

Malmol09 - paying off 25% by Christmas will be fantastic! Just think of where you've come from and how proud you should be of what you're doing.

CW2 - tough one there hun, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I have a HSBC loan which I will get £1500 cashback if I let it run to term in August 14. In the meantime I can save the money I was going to use to pay the loan off early for a house deposit but it means that "technically" I won't be debt free but I'll have the money in another account to offset. For me this is as good as being debt free as it'll be better for me!

You've all been so supportive of what has been going on at work with me, so a massive thank you!!! Update: After a very uncomfortable meeting on Thursday and subsequent bouts of tears, I dug deep and decided to push my boundaries to the limit and drove on Saturday to Droitwich and then came back through mid-Wales, through Chester, Liverpool and back home that way. It was a 6 hour round trip and my bum was numb but I am ELATED that I did it. Honestly, I am so proud that I managed it and didn't really have to fight myself. Whenever I thought about where I was I just keep recalling a poem from a brilliant book about a woman who is the 4 time Ironman World Champion, a guy wrote the poem and a line in it is: "This is not a dress rehearsal, this is it. Your life. Face your fears so you can live your dreams..."

I sent photos of my car outside one of our depots to my boss and 2 other work colleagues and they were so happy for me. I got lost on the way back as I didn't have sat nav or a road atlas so ended up in a layby surrounded by corn fields in the middle of nowhere but it didn't bother me and I just followed my nose and got back.

Was a bit of a baptism of fire but well worth it. Whilst it was a massive step I know I still have a way to go until I'm 100% me again but things like that just prove to me how strong I am and that I CAN get past this!!!

On a slightly sour note, I got a fabulous takeaway from Liverpool and opened a well earned drink but pretty soon after felt very unwell, hot sweats, shaking, dizzy and bad tummy. I thought it was the takeaway but it turns out it is something going round. Have felt delicate the last couple of days but getting better.

My screensaver at work is now the picture with my car at the depot and I keep grinning at what I've achieved. I know this will sound mad to some people but it's a really big deal for me xxx

Hope you're all well and are plugging away at those pesky debts as we've only got a few months left. I've only got 5 paydays left now so they all need to count!!!!

    xxx

  • Well done Jemma - that is huge :D

I hope you feel very elated with your self X

I pushed my own boundaries at the weekend. I went along to a kayak/canoe club to try it out on friday. Near the beginning the guy said we all had to have a go at capsizing on purpose to show we could get out of kayak ok. I was PETRIFIED

I amazed myself by doing it and will be going back again
