Welcome on board gaz, I've found this thread to be really supportive and has helped me deal with a lot of my debts...which will hopefully be gone before Christmas.

Good luck affordmylife, the excitement of payday doubled every month! And less time between each one....no more feelings of 'I'm skint, and it's three weeks six days until payday!

In order to take me over the 10k mark, I made a payment on to the credit card, but this is the last one before payday, unless some money appears out of thin air. Updating figures up to:

    #123 - 10150 / 10762
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.

    Hi all,

Well I am struggling to stick to budget this month with the kids being off & DD starting a new school in Sept so she needs a complete new uniform. I’m finding it hard to find any school trousers that will fit and that she likes (she is short and ultra skinny) so we’ve had several strops about that. I am fed up with traipsing round the shops & I could really do without the temptation.:o

I have paid £900 to Mr Branston – my 0% deal ends in October so I’m throwing everything at that , and I’ve paid £100 into my $ account for spending money. :j My holiday balance is due this month so I’ve been a bit naughty and applied for the RBS 0% on spending deal & will put the holiday on there. I should have enough saved by Jan 13 to pay this off, but will keep it in savings till the 18months is up.

    So my new totals are:
    #306 £11251.97/16779.81 67.06%

I am determined to get the debt under £5K this month.:D

Psychopathbabble – well done on your %! You’re almost there!!

Helenpie – I also vote for the baking, but remember that you’ll have to declare it to the taxman and pay tax on the profit so your actual hourly rate at the beginning might be lower than the bar job. In the short term the bar job might actually be the one that gets you a regular income as there’s no overheads to factor in.

Jakes- mum – well done on the Bingo Win! :T

Recurrent – ostrich – I would pay it off the Next balance too. I’m another one who keeps letting the overdraft creep up. I paid mine off a couple of months ago & it will be back at the end of this month for sure. I keep saying to myself that we will have a cheap month next month, but next month never comes! Affordmylifes post is really great advice & that’s what I would do. I have liked your post just in case you win the Euromillions!!
    ;);)
SpagBol – well done on hitting 20% you must be so pleased.

Welcome to gazfocus – good luck in your DFW journey. Don’t forget to tell us all about it.

Superheavy – your almost there!! :T

Afford mylife – any news on the job yet – my fingers are crossed for you.

And finally a massive thankyou to Jemma for keeping the thread up to date & calculating gow much we have all paid off. Half a million is amazing & motivating.

  • Well it's now less than a week to payday and I was feeling down with car repairs going on to cc that my aim of paying £500 off will now only be about £300. So...I decided to do something small but at least its a small step in the right direction. I cancelled my Next catalogue as the cheeky monkeys charge £4 for it and it's more temptation to spend once it's there and you start flicking through it! I know it's only £4 but I'd rather have £4 in my pocket than Mr N's! ;)

What small but significant steps are you all going to take today?

    Great question!
Well today I was a bit cheeky :o & reminded my friend that she had offered (a few weeks ago) to look after DD today. Normally I'd be polite, say nothing & assume she'd forgotton, but last night I texted to say "is it still ok for you to....." Lol - she texted straight back to sat that she had forgotten, but DD was definately welcome.

So I saved £22 holiday club & the cost of a packed lunch (and tuck money):D:D:D Oh and I have a happy DD too :j

    Hi Guys

I haven't left and i've still been reading everyday but i just want you to give me a good kick up the @rse!

I am a carer as some of you may know so i've decided that i'm going to get an extra job for a few hours whilst i am on 'break'. I usually work two on one off. I figured that if i can earn an extra bit each month (and stop spending of course) it will spur me on.

I have a plan. 4 debts and 3 of them being under 4k. I want to raise this 4k and do F&F before the end of the year.

    SPUR ME ON PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEASE!!

    Thanks
    xxxxxx
