Hey everyone, sorry I've been awol :o. I've been really struggling to be honest.

Jemma - I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time at the moment.

You should do what feels right for you, and if not doing the Snowden is what is best for you then don't do it, and don't feel bullied into doing it either. You shouldn't have to justify why you're not going to go and if there's a possibility that you'll be given a hard time then just don't turn up.If your boss's bullying attitude closes the line of communication and deters you from telling him beforehand then he shouldn't be a boss.

I don't want to speak out of turn or offer unsolicited advice, but I think you're too hard on yourself and that you set the bar high. I think you should concentrate on just 2 things this month, your running which is obviously bringing you pleasure, and paying your debt down more quickly as this will ultimately bring you more pleasure, freedom and independence from your family.

Do the map and ribbon chart, but restrict yourself to just overcoming your fear of one place per month, select the most 'do-able' one first and identify one place per month. Then when you've been to where ever it is and have conquered it bask in the feeling of achievement and enjoy it, don't then set another hurdle the same month.

I think a lot of posters have been a little demotivated dealing with their debts lately as it's been pretty quiet on here, but there are always lulls, the point is to recognise it, accept it for what it is, and move on. Tomorrow is a new day, and this time it's a new month as well which is even better, so put yesterday and the last few days/weeks behind you, harden your resolve and start again.

There are always plenty of hugs of this site so don't go wandering off on your own, or sitting in your room on your own, swing by here pick up a few virtual hugs and be reminded of the good that you're doing here.

    <<hugs Jemma>> :grouphug:

I won't be setting myself 5 things to achieve during August, my main goal at the moment is to pay the debt down, I'll pay off as much extra as I can and that's it, there are things I want to do around the house before my Granchild is born and before my parents come for a visit, but if I don't get these things done it won't matter, the world will still keep turning. Maybe I'm just too much of a lazy moo, but that's the way am I :A

Here's to a better month for everybody :T
  • Aaaargh!" Really hacked off today. Did the months budget last week in my little book where i keep the bank details, but I for some stupid reason forgot to put the council tax on the list.

So, the £150 I thought I had for trips out for the kids over the holidays is now only £50.:mad::mad::mad: I'm such a stupid woman. :(

Trying to keep myself cheerful by the thought that we can pay the caravan money off our debts at the end of the month (it's sitting in the bank account at the moment masquerading as "us not having an overdraft" :rotfl:but the overdraft "rate" is less than the Next rate so it'll pay (almost all of) that off when the bill comes.

    Hi Jemma,

I want to add my voice to the chorus of support for you really... and I wouldn't feel bad about not going on a trip to Snowdon at this time of year, personally I wouldn't want to be there in the summer either.

My reason for not wanting to go there in the summer may be slightly different as I don't particularly like crowds, and there are hundreds if not thousands of people on the paths there every day at this time of year.

The real joy of Snowdon for me is coming over 'Crib Goch' (a ridge nearby) in heavy rain in November, when I can be confident that I'm likely to meet one or two hardy souls at most.

When it comes to explaining this to your boss, just be calm but firm when telling him you can't go.

On a positive note, my Sharesave is due to mature today, so over the next week I'm hoping my loan will be no longer and that I have some money left over too.
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.
  • Jemma - *massive hugs*. You're doing the right thing not going to Snowdon if you can't cope with it - as others have said don't let your boss bully you into doing things you don't want to do, especially ones that aren't even in work's time. I know it's hard to get out of things that are 'expected' but sometimes it's just got to be done, whatever the consequences. And basically what can your boss do if you don't go - he can't fire you for not going on a weekend trip? You'll just have to avoid him as much as you can if he's being 'off' with you (easier said than done I know but after a week or so, it'll be 'yesterday's news'). Sometimes, you have to put yourself and your mental health first and s*d the others - you are more important.

I think you're right to concentrate on debt payments so that you can get a place of your own. It's much better when you have a space where you can relax in peace and do what you want. I'm glad your running club is making you happy :j and giving you something non-money related to aim for, that you also enjoy xx

    Good morning everyone.

One of my dd's comes out today so that's another £300 off my debt.

    #103 - 2840/19000 14.94%

I really want to add on the payment for my mortgage to bump up the figure but that wasn't included in the original target figure so it would be cheating.

    Great news !
Oh Jemma so sorry to here you have had a rough time recently. You are doing so well. You need to do what is right for you with regards to the weekend at Snowdon. I don't see how your boss can say anything as you said you will pay for the BandB so don't worry about it.

If there is anything that I can do to help on here PM me.

Well we are off to Wales for 12 days tomoz so wont be on here. Stay safe everyone and keep plugging away at the debt.;)

Have a fab time in Wales - hope the weather is kind for you :j.

I took my DS x 2 to optician's yesterday and youngest DS needs glasses (like me :o) - he's really unimpressed by having to wear them (cue mega sulks while choosing glasses and comments of 'I don't care what they look like as I'm not wearning them'). It's cost me £49 for the frames as the lenses are free so now not only is my shortsightness costing me money but my children's is too . I'm also going to need varifocal lenses soon but I'm going to try and do without them until I finish uni and get a job as my lenses always cost £200 as my sight is bad. In the meantime, I'm going to £Shop to get some reading glasses and they'll have to do me :D.

Me too!! Although ALL of mine will be going towards the two interest paying cc's which are slowly creeping up :( Then I'll have just one left with 0% interest... yay! I'm slightly excited yet nervous as my particular shares are bouncing all over the place, and I obviously want as many pennies as possible :D
