I'm doing Snowdon today with my mum and i'm absolutely papping myself... i've done it twice years ago but this is different. I've not driven as far or done something so big since my breakdown 2yrs ago and i'm petrified that i'll have a panic attack on the mountain! Seems silly cos i haven't had one for about 18months but the fear is always there. and this pushes so many of my fear buttons... my mum is so excited tho i haven't the heart to tell her how scared i am... i need to be strong as i can't live in fear all my life. i need to keep pushing those boundaries to get the person i was back. Blimey, bit heavy for so early in the morning...

Hopefully Jemma, excitement will take over the nerves as you get closer. What could be more beautiful then being up Snowdon, that feeling of being on top of the world and free? Wind in your hair, sun (maybe) on your face and nature all around. Sounds bliss to me sat here in my dingy, dark office, the only light coming from the strip lighting, staring at a blinking computer with nothing to do and the drone of the radio and clicking keyboards. Not jealous in the slightest :D

You can do it Jemma. Just think of how great you will feel once you are up there and have proved it to yourself. If you do feel any sense of panic though, do talk to your mum, I'm sure she will understand. I working today, and would much rather be where you are!

    Anyway, confession time:

    #077 -£3,963.50/£16,660.26 -23.79% :eek::eek:

Soooo.....It appears that this figure was completely wrong and I was actually -49.57% that day, so had added 50% to my debt because of the wedding

However, we now have all of the gift contributions made towards the wedding and honeymoon en route to our accounts and with the extra cash we'd kept for non-credit card payments in the run up, this should is already down to just -25.86%, and a month from now we should be at just -9% :T

That means we will be starting September in about the same position we were in when I signed up to DFBX in November 2011. :o:o

However, I think it may still ***just*** be do-able before Christmas!! :j There are a lot of assumptions:
    1.OH doesn't spend too much!
2.No emergencies (not sure whether to count our desperate need for a new mattress as an emergency :p)
3.OH's tax refund of approx £1,200 comes though (and he doesn't spend it before I get hold of it )
4.Bonus and payrise to be at least what I have estimated based on the hints given to me by HR (will find that out next week hopefully).

That doesn't leave us any wiggle room at all though and won't include money for OH's birthday or Christmas....but I may well be debt free for my 30th birthday in January!!! how amazing would that feel?!? :j:beer:

    Jemma - my update:

    -£4,308.62/£16,660.26 -25.86%
    :j
    Debt Free By Xmas 2013 #010 £16,660.26/£16,660.26 100% paid, DFD 25/06/13! :D

Hi Guys, I'm so excited I've got to tell someone and who else but my MSE friends?

You may have wondered in the past why with a healthy savings balance I didn't just repay my personal loan early. Well, given that it was 5 years ago and my memory was a bit vague I thought we had some promotion going for a cash back if you left the loan to run for the full term at the time. I was pretty sure I wasn't part of it, but just incase I decided to leave it to term.

Well today I checked my balances and yes you guessed it I did get cash back £638.54 to be exact!!!!!!!!!! Wow wow wow. Main account has been going a bit overdrawn in the last 2 months just before payday,so I've left most of it there but also paid an extra £199.38 off the M&S card. :T

  • Hello hello - long time no post! :D

I'm so happy to see more names on the roll of honour - hello people

I keep popping in and lurking but never get round to posting so will do a quick update now and hopefully keep up a bit better than I have been doing :o

Soooo.... technically I'm not debt-free right now with all the wedding stuff going on - well I've got some money on a CC but have more in the wedding budget/savings than it would take to clear it, so I am *really* but would feel sneaky not declaring it!

We've found somewhere for our wedding reception type thing - which will be more of a gathering/party than a typical reception with us getting married in Vegas - that we can use the space for free and set the budget based on how generous a buffet we want to provide then the guests can get their drinks from the bar :D Very nearly everything is sorted - I've got the last £750 of the holiday to pay off tomorrow, ESTAs to sort out for me & Owen and then pre-trip pampering to sort out at the back end of September but otherwise DONE!! :T

Work has been CRAZY busy and I've ended up doing loads of overtime - which is good - but has made actually seeing Owen difficult so it will be nice to get a couple of weeks in the US where I can't be called into work at the last minute :rotfl:
